Raid Rev build question
I have Exotic Berserker’s Armor and Ascended Berserker’s Accessories, even with Facet of Darkness, I dont reach 100%
Full ascended berserker equipment in a raid setup gives you about 50% critchance +40% for fury (with Roiling Mists) + banner of discipline/spotter buff (~7% each)…
So yeah, while banner is up you are slightly overcapped. With banner on cd you are still slightly below 100%.
So theoretically you could get away with about 70 more thoughness or vitality instead of precision most of the time.
But what good will that really do for you? 70 thoughness does not change much, neither will ~600 HP more.
Raid builds are about optimization, more precisely optimizing your damage output (and/or offensive group buffs), because damage just isn’t an issue in the end.
It’s all about knowing positioning and how/what to dodge. You will never find a moment, where you die because you’re missing a few HP or armor. If you do it’s 100% because you/your team failed… either some mechanic or a dodge. (Situations you reduce by killing the boss faster btw…)
As for “only 1k toughness which is slightly low to survive”:
Most people beside you will be more squishier than you because they have lower base armor and/or lower base HP. If other classes can survive, you can as well ;-)
It just takes practice (and a bit of experience with the specific encounter).
Another thing to is that Mobs prioritize targets based on toughness, and it takes a lot of damage to override that. I’ve also noticed the AI likes to switch targets more often now, so if they start ignoring the tank, toughness raises you high on the target list.
Because of this, you don’t want to raise your aggro enough to pull from the tank. This aspect is tricky because a toughness speced tank doesn’t do a lot of damage, but a zerk tank that knows how to avoid hits can hold aggro as long as the the DDs don’t burst too high. Thats why you usually see the Tank mix in a little toughness to exploit this behavior, but just run everything else as damage spec to keep DPS up.
The second reason is that pretty everything in this game can be mitigated better with boons and skills then with defense gear stats. Theres really no reason not to run DPS spec (which if you’re power is going to be Zerks, or Valks if you have alternate source of Crit chance), because raids are still DPS optimized. In fact, Raids still rely heavily on very high damage spikes, which would kill anyone without all def spec gear anyway…. so its not worth the loss in DPS since the rage timers will kill you instead.
