This seems to be something that is rather concerning for me. Since you can now swap weapons the Revenant is missing a ranged condition weapon. Even a hybrid weapon would due. We have hammer and thats really it. Which isn’t ideal for a condition set on any angle. With its powerful single hits and slow attack it doesn’t benefit very well as well as a quicker weapon might.

Of course, I feel the Revenant is very limited in allot of ways and this is just one of them that I feel should be addressed soon. When I thought that some Stances might provide something similar to a conjure weapon or kit I wasn’t concerned. But now that we know that isn’t the case I’m concerned.

As for what weapon should be our ranged Condi weapon? I’d say short bow. Though Rifle or Pistol would be fine too.

The same thread has been made many times. When hammer does 4k damage with AA, why do you need a ranged condi weapon? Slot in some condi sigils if you want and you’re done.

If your spec has no power in it… then at least the ocasional condi application would be great… even if its say…. a 2nd and 3rd part of an attack chain… or a trait that makes some secondary effect the hammer has apply condis. Something…. I can put sigils in the maxe/axe… and make it do more condis.

Oh… wait….

If your build dosent use precision, the you just wont crit enough with it for sigils to work….

Revenant doesn’t have much condi output anyway (even with full Mallyx uptime, that is not a great idea energy wise), so it’s not really a great idea to forget about power. The best option for a condi build is Sinister + some Carrion, or maybe just go past 700 condi damage and then stack Berserker or Valkyrie stats. So you’d probably end up doing more damage with Hammer then with many ranged condi weapons other classes have.

Also if you stay in Mallyx all the time you’ll end up sucking badly, since you have far less energy output compared to somebody who swaps to Shiro/Jalis/Glint relatively often.

So you actually want an hybrid build that is capable of handling conditions and do some raw damage.
So it’s really a bad idea to have no power on Revenant unless you’re going full supporter.

Mace/ axe is loaded with condi. And even of you use anything other than mallyx just to keep up energy regen you can still do an effective condi build.

And lets say you go full support with ventari and mallyx, and apothecary gear. Your dps falls through the floor with a hammer.

Which is fine, untill you are fighting say the dredge suit/ ice elemental fight where you need ranged… unless you simply want to resign to buckets all the time.

Or lets say your using carrion gear… the hammer hits… ok? With a secondary stat power…. but your conditions fall off, which is your primary damage source…. and you have no precision, so no help from sigils.

Or say you kit out with rabid…. now youbhave the precision to have 48% crit rate…. so 1/2 of the time, you crit, and 2/3rds of those crits (rounding) apply 1 stack of a 5 second bleed? And then 1/3rd (rounding again) of those apply 1 aoe 5 sec torment….

So…

Feels like a ranged condition weapon is lacking to me.

I vote torch MH, with thrown torch skills that burn, a fire breath thing similar to the gaurdians #5… and perhaps a burning block, make it feel a little like scepter on mesmer.

Then give us dagger off hand with a fan of torrenting daggers, like ranger’s axe 2…. and perhaps summon a ring of spinning poision daggers around your target that hits enemies around his position the you can ‘detonate’ for confusion on the target mob.

Just spit balling and wish listing…. but it feels like it fits the flavor.

+1 for a ranged condi weapon.

It’s not the same to pick up a sigil with which you can keep up 3 stacks of bleeding thanks to your crits.
In beta most pure condi revenants ran with dual mace/axe. Sorry but I hate to run twice the same weapons. It just doesn’t feel right. But we don’t have another condi weapon option

Also nearly every other class has to option of 2 ranged weapons:
Ele: Staff, Scepter
Guardian: Longbow, Scepter, (Staff, only 600 range on AA)
Warrior: Longbow, Rifle
Engineer: Pistol, Rifle
Thief: Shortbow, Pistol
Ranger: Axe, Longbow, Shortbow
Mesmer: Staff, Greatsword, Scepter
Necro: Staff, Scepter, (Axe, only 600 range)

So another at least 600-900 range option for the revenant would be nice.

Is a bow.

So maybe add a shortbow with condi skills which usually has a range of <= 900.
So a rev has 2 weapons as options for a condition build. As well as a 2nd range weapon.
