Rapid Lacerations
2% skill speed was pretty bad imo since it doesn’t reduce aftercasts but I agree. If they buffed it to 3% skill speed per stack it would’ve been fine.
yea, i liked the 2% speed with frenzy, feels cool.
If I recall, the reason it was changed was because some people complained about it’s usefulness and how it directly competed with Assassin’s Presence, which most of the min-max crowd would consider almost mandatory (For good reason, it’s a really good trait). It was thematic, but the numbers weren’t comparable, so it was reworked into a flat damage boost.
I personally liked the attack speed boost, and would like to see it changed back, honestly. Free 10% attack speed is glorious.
I thought it was changed because there was no point of having it plus Impossible Odds.
I wouldn’t say there was no point to it, Impossible Odds has a big impact on play but with a big price that has no way to be sustained. Rapid Lacerations has a smaller impact yet can be sustained.
Every so often both could be active giving 60% skill speed.
The damage numbers and how it compares to the other traits in the line are not the issue that I have with the change its how the profession feels when played, It was a lot more enjoyable for me with less damage at higher speeds. saying that I’m not asking for a nerf to damage as I plan to play rev as my Main and hoping the ideas that they had when they first made the revenant stays as close as possible to what we fist saw
I was right. This is from Roy’s opening post on the above sticky:
Devastation
There was a bug fix here and the redesign of a trait. Increased attack speed bonuses felt lackluster when you have access to Impossible Odds, which grants quickness. The increased attack speed values did not stack so I felt as if it was a good place to add in a damage multiplier that would also help out sword’s damage.
- Rapid Laceration: This trait has been changed to Vicious Lacerations. This trait will now increase damage by 2% per stack while attacking with a sword equipped. This stacks up to a maximum of five times.
Eh, I’m not too happy about that change. The Rapid Lacerations variation was more meaningful for builds that did not take Shiro.
Though I guess if it didn’t stack with Quickness I can kinda agree with its uselessness to an extent in organized groups.
If swords played slower, yeah it would be a worthwhile opinion to have that it’s a playstyle change. But 10% attack speed on Sword/X is hardly noticeable. Save for UA, most of the abilities are pretty much instant cast. It also lowers the channel time of the block…so the longest lasting ability isn’t the one you want to shorten the cast time of.
