Returning player, current State of Revenant?
Revenant is awesome. If you plan on Power DPSing it may get a bit boring (best damage is heal+attackspeed skill+auto attack). For pvp Mallyx (dondi legend) is ridiculously high damage if done well. Ventari (heals) does a lot of healing and cc but near to no damage. Herald (Glint legend/elite spec) is great to give yourself and your teams boons, and gives any combo great survivability. Jalis is supposed to be defensive and tanky, but some people combo it with shiro (power dps) for damage. At the moment jalis is meh for tanking.
With PoF we might see some interesting synergy between Mallyx and Kalla (new elite spec, apparently also condi)

Thanks, for the reply, I’m going to have to research 90% of what you said Being on 4yr break I’m so far behind that most of what you said doesn’t make sense to me. So all the names you tossed Mallyx etc are those weapons? I played mine last night and got to lvl 6. what weapons should I be using to prepare me for 80?
Thanks,
In PvE it’s one of the easiest classes, in PvP it’s one of the hardest ones. Generally performs better in PvP/WvW but isn’t abd in PvE either. There isn’t much build diversity however,
as some one who is about to make a rev… I have noticed, I do not see alot of them. I see gobs of Warriors, and guardians but almost not revs. I like that and that is why I want to play one. but that also means lots of more room to look bad.

Mallyax and such are what Rev’s call legends it is like a elementalist’s attunments.
A rev can have 2 weapons like normal, and then 2 legends equiped. each legend has a set of utility, elite, and heal skills that you can activate. NOW note you can not change what those skills are.
So for example there is legendary dwarf stance which will give you a whole set of themed utilities and such based around the dwarf legend. you can have a spectral road drop down and give swift ness. you can have hammers flow around you.
Or in legendary assassin stance, you get a teleport charge, and an elite that turns people into jade statues.
In Legendary Dragon stance which is the Heart of Thorns Elite spec, you get things called facets which are like signets which have an activation and they put a buff on you and people around you and then you can use that skill again to get a major affect.
It is super fun.

I recently returned to the game, but from what I gathered, the class was in a bad place before the recent patch, so that might be why. Personally, I went from Rev back to Ranger because the glint/shiro build had gotten boring to play, but didn’t feel condi rev was gonna be a thing for me without a second condi weapon/legend. The new elite spec might change this for me.
There’s a beta ongoing for the new story where I believe you can make any class with their HoT elite specialization. You might want to try the revenant out there
Rev was one of my first raid toons til the nerf bat hit at the knee….
I for one am hoping Renegade just might play out now as a viable condi raid build since Spellbreaker is all power. Just nice to have both covered and my Rev was fun as hell at one time! Here’s hoping!!
I recently started running Rev in WvW because my elementalist build finally felt significantly diminished from all the nerfs. I decided on a condi Rev build since it appears to offer group support with Glint and fairly good dps with Mallyx. So far, after learning the rotations, I’m starting to really enjoy it for front-line. I was surprised after hearing such awful things about the class. Did the latest balance patch enhance this class or hurt it? It seems that the condi damage on my current build out dps’s my condi necro – which either says something about my necro build or that rev is getting an undeserved bad reputation because of previous nerfs. What does everyone think?

As far as I could tell, the patch was pretty much buffs across the board, mainly to traits and legends that were underperforming, such as Jalis. I’m holding off on making any condi gear for my own Rev until the expansion is out and I can slot Renegade. I kind of want that shortbow as second condi weapon before I commit to a condi build.
