I enjoyed the stress test for the Rev this past weekend. I love the mechanics of the Hammer. It’s the first prof I actually enjoy the hammer.
I thought it was creative to make the staff “melee”, but at the same time it’s mechanics don’t make sense. The staff’s skills seem to focus on “support” so making it melee ranged seems like a bad idea to me.
Suggestion:
1. Staff, Since the theme of the Rev seems to follow through with “spirits” and “portals” I had a unique idea for the staff’s 1 attack. What if, instead of melee the first attack was a ranged attack as such:
The idea of the staff 1 would be like an “extend stick” (monkey king) idea, but instead of actually extending, the staff would phase into a portal and exit out up to 1,500 feet. So, another wards, if the enemy is at 1,500 feet or less, the staff auto attack would reach the enemy dealing damage. And maybe it’s 3rd hit causes confusion or something.
2. Also, I don’t know if it’s already in the works, but I hope the Rev gets great sword (gs) and also gets a unique play style. It would be awesome if the great sword on a Rev functioned like a yoyo or something. Similar to the Mesmer Great Sword throw (4 I believe), except it would come back similar to the hammer 1 on the rev. And it’s other attacks would be similar yoyo mechanics. “Around the world” would send it out forward and then spin around the Rev 360* a couple times before returning to the caster while the Great Sword spins horizontally. “Walking the Dog” would center the GS in the ground while rotating the blade vertically through the ground and in a linear path forward 1,000 feet or something.
Just some fun ideas I had. Doubt something that creative would happen, but would be cool to see. And I’ll admit, it would make using the Greatsaw Chainsword super epic! Everyone would want one just for the Rev YoYo mechanics.
