I tried setting my Rev up for DPS, and had the same disappointing experience as everyone else. Since the DPS issue has already been discussed ad nauseam, I thought I’d introduce a topic to discuss other types of play for this class.

I set up my Rev in full Cleric’s, and have so far used the staff with the Ventari legend. I’ve had a lot more fun today than I did yesterday, just goofing off with my friend, who is using the default build and equipment.

So far as I can see, the Revenant is not a solo-friendly class. I usually solo, but when I group up, I like to run floater classes (off tank, field medic, battery, and all around PITA to the opposition). I didn’t care for this class at first, but now that I’m exploring other styles than DPS, I see a lot more potential.

Thoughts?

Speaking from a PvE standpoint, it’s doable, but other professions will be able to do about the same amount of support on top of doing around 8x the dps of a cleric Revenant with staff.

Playable Tengu please!

It needs to be solo-friendly in all Legends. It can also be group friendly, but first and foremost needs to be able to stand on its own two feet in all modes.

I’ve done a cleric staff Ventari build as well. It’s good at taking a beating and giving some residual support to allies, but not much else. Has very minimal damage, no mobility, and no real unique utility outside of a potentially permanent projectile bubble.

Would probably be ok in sPvP as a node holder, but maybe only in hotjoins. I was glad to see that I was able to make a very tanky revenant using the Ventari legend, but it’ll need more than what it has now.

I believe that the Jalis and Ventari Legends were put in to appeal to the players who post about wanting to play healer and tank. I’m not surprised if they kind of work in those roles, as I believe that is how they were designed to be used.

true, i however went a different route and focused more on conditions and i must say that it works if you go a bit more rampagers route. i have full krait runes. And I can actually burst people down with my elite skill when using the demon stance.

I can totally get behind rev as a support class, and am actually excited for that, but it is going to need a baseline dps increase through either larger hits or faster skills if it is going to be a serious choice for any party.

I like staff/ventari with a splash of dwarf. Makes me feel like a dedicated healer. And I could almost see staff/dwarf being a dedicated tank(but it is missing…something). Hammer is ok too, but doesn’t really synergies as well with the released legends.
