So I played Rev in PvP season 1 and 2 and loved it. Safe to say it flowed well with my play style and I kicked ass getting to diamond first time then legendary the second time. When the nerfs came in I retired my Rev to PvE and WvW and my Ele took over as my PvP character which has taken me to consistent platinums with the new leagues.

With the recent slight buffs to Rev and my undying love for the class I decided to try my hand again in PvP recently. I have played 20 games in the past few days and all I can say is that it just sucks. I post this to try to understand what everyone else thinks or what I’m doing wrong.

To start with the damage doesn’t feel terrible. But half of my attacks just seem to bug out of miss. Chaotic release is always blocked or misses. The same with Jade winds. UA always cancels itself out and leaves you motionless ready to be killed in high action situations. Frigid blitz just goes on CD without working half of the time. When it comes to survivability bow rangers, warriors and Mesmer can literally CC lock me to death. Anything condi melts me in seconds.

Don’t get me wrong, when I’m playing on my Ele the only class I think I have never lost against in a 1 vs 1 is a Rev. But this begs the question why isn’t there more complaints about Rev in PvP?

Because played at perfection holds on vs most of the other classes, even the “hard counters” as condi Mesmer and Necro. But because is so hard most of the time ends wiping the floor or being subpar, which is bad for the ego but good for progression.

I did leave DH two seasons ago despite I was more successful with that class, but now I don’t want to go back to a class with access to stability and good condition cleanses. The only thing that I still call broken is how strong is stealth in this game, but even then from time to time I’m able to beat some haughty condi thieves.

But to some extent I think that is because is a lot like in fighting games: you like a character, you like it’s gameplay, you’ll keep chosing it as your main even if sucks.
