hi everyone!

First of all, I wanted to say that I greatly appreciated the revenant, it’s very fun to play and it finally feels like it hits hard. However, I feel like we lack “options” when playing the class. Let me explain what I mean:

If I want to play power rev with a one-hander (bc. I want to use the shield, or maybe the axe in my offhand or for whatever reason) I will HAVE to use the sword as it is the only power oriented one-hander.

If I want to play a condi spec, I will HAVE to use the mace anyways, as it is the only condi mainhand weapon revenant has. Now as the mace doesnt really have alot of utility and is really just there for condi dmg (fire-field and explo dont count as utility). I will also only use the mace for CONDI builds, never for power builds.

but what about my secondary weapon set in condi builds? staff? sword/x? both aren’t BAD and have some utility, especially staff, but they dont apply ANY conditions whatsoever.

So, here is my idea to give REVs SOME degree of freedom as well as to satisfy the need for another condi weapon; I would suggest adding a mainhand RANGED condi/power hybrid weapon with SOME utility (to make it viable over f.e hammer as a ranged power weap.)

EXAMPLE: scepter

autoattack 1: throw a bolt of mist essence at your enemy, applying the “curse of the mists” effect on them (doesnt do anything atm, continue to read to understand)
autoattack 2: throw another bolt of mist at your opponent, applying 1 sec of chill to them
autoattack 3: release a beam of mist energy at your opponent, dealing high dmg and triggering the “curse of the mists”, applying a condition on your opponent based on the legend you are in atm (effects tba.)

skill 2: “ghastly winds”
release a small tornado of poisoned air at your opponent that will apply poison and chill

skill 3: “blazing stalagmites”
this would be a gound targeted spell that would “summon” spikes (that would look like stalagmites) at the targeted area, burning opponents, knocking them back and applying a few stacks of torment

all those skill (especially the auto -atk) would have acceptable base dmg, skill 3 would also do massive power dmg , but would have a 15 sec. cd, encouraging you to weapon swap

the poison would make me reconsider taking the venom enhancement trait. the chill applied would work both for condi and power builds, same goes for the knockback. the fact that it is a RANGED main-hand weapon would allow for MUCH greater build diversity. Also it would be perfectly suitable for the rev theme, having no bleeds and cripple and having “misty” effects

I know it may be strange introducing a weapon without a legend, but I think rev really needs this!

So.. what if all the mace skills were made to be ranged 600/900 like all other “ranged” condi weapons in the game so far? Is that an acceptable alternative? Sure, more weapon choices would be cool… but, looking at time-until-release… and considering there is tons of balancing left to do and two more elite specs, they do not have time for that. Altering the range on the current weapon and leaving skills as is… easy-peasy

I like and dislike your suggestion

giving mace ranged dmg would be interesting and would definitely solve the “lacking ranged dmg” issue but then we would go back to a similar issue: condi rev would only have ranged condi dmg :P also it would still not add some “build diversity”

And yes, I do agree, with the amount of time we have left until release, it is very unlikely that we will get a new weapon. I dont think it is overly dramatic or anything like that, I just feel like the rev, while still being really fun to play, will have very limited customizability with the current amout of weapon choices we have. also the fact that each legend locks you into a certain set of skills doesn’t help either

but the latter isn’t bad actually, I guess it’s the way the rev works and I’m ok with that.

I just hope they will (someday) add another condi/power weapon for the rev!

I’d personally rather have the use of a greatsword myself. I was looking forward to playing a Shadowknight(EQ2)/Dark Knight(FFXI) archetype and am sort of bummed i can’t use a greatsword.

Well the hammer fulfills the role of both a ranged and AoE based power weapon, so I think a mainhand axe doing a similar thug would be pretty unnessary when we already have two Melee power weapons that have cleaving attacks.

Well I think dual wielding means that you have 2 weapons equipped (two one-handers) (thus the name), they dont have to be the same. Or at least that is what I think but I’m not 100% sure as it is.

Yes so mace/axe would count as dual wielding. Any 2 one handed weapons.

Though not sure if shield counts for that.

I just want a one handed range weapon (preferably condi weapon) similar to necro scepter. Condi builds don’t really have much going for them for ranged options currently.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I’d love to see Mace’s 1 attack chain changed be functionally similar to Necro Death Shroud’s Life Blast: attack with a melee attack that also sends out projectiles that travel up to 900 range, but if you hit with the melee attack it applies either additional or longer lasting conditions. Basically, make it a flexible auto attack that CAN be used at up to 900 range but is BEST used in melee range

I definitely wish there was more in in regard to conditions for the revenant. Condition builds are more fun than power ones sometimes, but the revenant doesn’t have too much to work with, especially being stuck in melee with mace. But as much as I’d love it, i’m skeptical about a new condi weapon being added before HoT release.

you have 2 auto attacks,
Scapter can be
skill 1 900 range auto attack by shoting burning mists.
skill 2 240(sort of melee) range spawn a mist sword for 20 sec that flys near u like the shiro heals skill, and it flips to another skill that hits and can apply vuln
skill 3 throw “x” in a cone, wen it lands on the ground it opens a rift on the ground like guardian symbols for 3-5 sec wen allys stand on it, it give swiftness foes stand on it it slows 300 radious from itknokback 600 range weakness could be perfect for condi/power if u only change or apply difrante condis

I guess that would be interesting too, theres so much that speaks for the addition of another condi weapon right now imo… We’ll see how that goes. Though it seems alot of the rev changes will involve balancing (I hope for a lack of nerfs, and a ventari buff/ minor rework) and I highly doubt we’ll get a new weapon sadly.

I also would like to see another weapon set added to the revenant a condi ranged weapon other classes have two ranged weapons. Dagger/Dagger would be an interesting set offering an one handed weapon and unique since no other heavy armor class uses them. Also giving a distant weapon while wielding a shield.

You can’t really use Mainhand Pistol for a Condition build, either. :P Offhand’s alright, but Mainhand gives barely anything compared to Kits as far as damage goes, and certainly isn’t equivalent to Rifle in terms of relevance to their respective builds.

Well personnaly i’m absolutly fine with weapons that revenant have acces. Sometimes you must adapt with what you have and i find you have choice with revenant. Mobility, conditions or range. You also can have tankier offhand or mobility one. For me it’s perfectly fine with this and don’t ask for more. Don’t forget that revenant was a pretty strong class too this BWE so buffing him don’t seems a great idea. I myself don’t have any problem with power mace. With the fire field and with brill, impossible odds and facet of nature i have landed powerfull blows with mace and it was devastative.

All works a s DW, actually everytime you use 2 slots is DW in GW2

The good thing on Rev is that every OH is not tied to power or condi so any is good:
Sword is pull + block
Axe is teleport+CC
Shield is prot/healing + invuln/big heal.
MH you have 2 style, Power with sword, Condi with mace. Both short/medium range.
We have 2H power melee/support with Staff.
We have long range power/CC with Hammer.

What we lack is a range condi. For the sake of weapon distribution I’d say rifle, but it really doesnt fit Rev extremely, even tho can work.
If we keep on the plain/physical weps (staff is used in a physical way) best candidate is Longbow

Edit: Is over-rated and mesmer has something similar, but i won’t mind a ranged condition greatsword :-D

Personally, I’d be inclined to bring in the Mists links here. The magic used by the revenant has connections to the ritualist even if the playstyle is quite different – a sceptre using ritualist-like skills would give a nod to this connection without needing to be specific to a legend (its powered by the energies of the Mists themselves rather than a specific legend).

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect on release (less than two months to develop and test a new set of primary weapon skills?) – but it would be nice to see it coming eventually as a core weapon rather than a specialisation one.

I also would love to see an additional ranged main-hand weapon added for Revenant. Preferably one that leans toward condition damage. I like the hammer, but I’d love to have another ranged option, and also something main-hand so I can benefit from the dual-wield trait too.

I definitely think Rev would benefit from a ranged condition based weapon. Scepter,long bow, short bow, rifle or axe main hand all sound like good ideas to me. Could also use the mesmers ranged great sword animations and use it as a ranged condition weapon.

Right now I am running a Carrion Mallyx build Mace/Axe with Hammer on weapon swap since it is the only ranged weapon we have. I do like the utility that the hammer provides with the projectile block, the blast finishers and the life steal from auto attacking through hammer four.

I think it wold be nice to be given one of the bows as a ranged condition based weapon. I would prefer the long bow though, I would like to have 1200 range.
