There’s a lot of negativity on this forum regarding the Revenant and with good reason most of the time.

With this thread, I’d like to bring people together to discuss what they like about the Revenant! What builds do you run for fun or enjoy doing even though it may not be the most optimal?

I really, really enjoy the thief in heavy armor vibe. So I enjoy running Shiro/Glint most of the time. Unless I’m in a serious PvE raid, or a serious WvW raid playing frontline, I’ll have Shiro slotted. Gladly this is actually meta most of the time.
I also swap shield for sword and axe sometimes just for fun. And I also sometimes bring hammer to sPvP and roaming because while is not ideal, it is still pretty strong and fun.

Something else that I also love on revenant besides gameplay is the visual identity. From promo material to animations, icons and effects, I find everything amazing.
Except Glint ground effect. They could have done better.

I love the permanent*passive*stuff. You can slack 50% of the time and still contribute. I love the exploration with him, especially with friends. I love the StarTrek visor/visual identity. I love the 60% very easy part (passive), 40% very hard to master player skill needed to get 100% of it, it’s a challenge.

Edit: OMG I forgot, I love the way it fights with a staff, I feel like in TMNT action game. Awesome.

I love the overall theme of the profession: warrior channelling legends from the mist, the visual identity, effects etc.

My fave thing is how the Ventari tablet was implemented. Its design is unique, it requires a lot of micromanagement but is awesome in the right hands.

I’m not gonna mention how I hate the design behind Glint, how it promotes passive play and is so much better than the other legends, I’ll leave it for another time

I love the jack of all trades feel to them. While in the past jack of all trades professions have just felt weak, Revenant feels decent enough in most roles. I am a slave to boons though. And Dragon Stance is just godly. They designed facets how they should have designed signets in my opinion.

Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death.

I really agree with this! This is what Signets should have always been

I’d love if Necromancers had a condition version of facets, on their signets, kinda similar to plague but not a form ^^

Love my rev. One of two of my mains.

Despite the negativity in this forum, I think it’s very well designed, even base rev. I think all that needs adjusting is some number tweaking.

I also feel I have a bit more freedom when running solo as Rev. It kinda has the WoW druid feel to it, something which I sorely miss from my time on WoW. Focusing on a build, then being able to switch forms either when it’s efficient or when it’s most useful to my allies. Rev isn’t quite there yet, sadly. Ventari is still too clunky for me to go ‘off-healer’, Mallyx is just too weak vs conditions without his far too focused traitline. But it’s getting there. I have alot more hope for Rev than my previous mains in ranger, necro and Engineer. Rev just works with me better.

Edit: Just saw Lonewolf Kai’s signature and that put’s why I like rev in a nutshell. “be like water”.

Love my rev, everyday he’s becoming more and more my #1.

Even though I do understand the negativity in the forums, because when you put rev side-by-side with the other classes, they do have some serious and glaring weaknesses. But, when I die on my rev, I truly know that it’s my fault. It has that feeling of, “Well, yeah, I don’t have nearly enough cleanse and that sucks, but I shouldn’t have let that mesmer bomb me in the first place.” And while the same could be said for any class (play better!), I like that you really feel it on the rev and it inspires you to become a better and more aware player.

Also, having permanent access to swiftness without the use of a utility skill/weapon is the greatest thing ever for WvW and Open World PvE bumming around. Seriously, spoils it for all my other characters who feel so slow now.

Haha, thanks for noticing it. It’s a very simple, yet deeply profound statement.

I definitely enjoy the concept of the class, as it can do a little of everything fairly well, despite its many issues.
Its because I enjoy it so much that I'm sick and tired of the constant nerfs, over compromises and fixes for some of our serious problems. Its like there's so much potential and its not getting realized to its fullest...

My first, and still current, love was condi revenant. Hopping around with Unyielding Anguish, tearing open rifts in the Mists to burn and torment enemies, and almost becoming a demon yourself are all things that make me love the condi revenant. Sooooooo much fun! I just wish I could raid with the build…

I completely agree. The class has soooooooo much potential, it’s simply saddening at this point to see how much of that is wasted(because its potential is being wasted…).

Herald is one of my favorite professions. Not sure I’d like Revenant quite as much if we didn’t have Herald, but since we’ve never known it any other way… it will be interesting to see what the next elite spec brings since using it will make Herald unavailable while the new spec is active.

I just really wish there was a way to disable the Herald ground effect and associated organ music without needing to turn player instrumentation off.

My favourite profession! It’s a shame it took until Heart of Thorns for it to be released, because I would have been playing the revenant from the start otherwise.

I am concerned about our lack of condition damage options (and the lack of viability of our condi-spec, for that matter), but I really enjoy all the other specializations. I hope Ventari can continue to see some more quality of life improvements, and to see Riposting Shadows finally escape the nerf-hammer lol.

Looking forward to whatever comes next on my rev.

Resource management. Many MMOs are heavy on resource management, but most of GW2 is very light on it. For most professions, your only resources are your hitpoints and your cooldowns. Because Rev utility and weapon skills have an energy cost, every button you press requires a little more consideration, and this is very rewarding.

I leveled a rev from 1 to 80 this past couple of weeks. First rev I made almost a year ago I deleted out of boredom. I have no idea what I was thinking back then. This class is chock full of interesting nuances. The combat is pretty engaging with the right weapon/legend combinations.

I have been jumping from classes to classes until Revenant came along and captured my heart. The concept is very interesting, it’s really cool to channel the power of legendary to fight! It has really nice fighting moves like a thief but with heavy armors!

It’s really unfortunate that there are so many nerfs because I don’t know how I could part with my Revenant. I have been thinking to main my warrior these days because I have been disappointed over and over that I couldn’t bear it anymore. But Revenant……..oh revenant……………… what a waste. I just don’t know how to part ways with this profession.

I’m trying but the nerfs and the bugs most of all remain and it’s kinda killing my excitement to log in and play mine lately.

Still love the whole idea though and the cool skills!
