Revenant Elite Specialization Unveiled
We all knew it was Glint, but I’m still sulking that Rurik didn’t end up being one of the legends. Missed opportunity, that.

i thought that bit was funny, mainly because theres hardly any aquatic combat left.

I’m curious how “two auto attacks” work (for the underwater spear). Do you still have to select one of them that auto-fires?

yet. the framework’s there, we could see rurik in the future. also doesn’t exclude him from showing up in the story.
B-iconics: 4 ladies, one dude.
Revenant legends: 4 dudes, one lady.
So, if I bring my Revenant to Living Story, I can finally get the EEOC off my back.

The water abilities were obviously created when weapon swap wasn’t planned to be allowed. The duel function seems to have been their answer to not being able to swap. An interesting idea, one I wouldn’t mind seeing attempted with a land weapon as well.

I don’t know as how Ruric was particularly legendary, really.
Jalis? Infamous Dwarven king who discovered and enacted the Rite of the Great Dwarf, effectively ending his entire species to transform them into eternal guardians against Primordus.
Mallyx? Incredibly powerful demon lord who had been approaching the level needed to challenge his own god. Took over Hell after Kormir ate Abaddon. Was also a significantly more difficult fight than Abaddon was.
Ventari? Central figure and something of a Founding Father for the entire sylvari race – and even then, his inclusion is a little sketchy and his ability set stinks.
Shiro? Biggest meanest nastiest human* kitten in Tyria’s history. Transformed an entire region on a geographical scale through the sheer power of mad. More singularly powerful than any other mortal threat the series has ever faced.
Rurik? Rurik is a guy who ticked off his dad, got thrown out of the house, and then failed in his self-appointed mission of escorting his country’s refugees through the Shiverpeaks – he got them part of the way through, died, then we finished the job. He failed to be relevant for three quarters of Prophecies’ storyline, only to come back for a once-off cameo as an undead slave of the Lich.
Rurik didn’t accomplish anything worthwhile, save for expediting Adelbern’s inevitable defeat. I don’t know if he’s even remembered in GW2’s timeframe, save by historians who have made it their job to remember these sorts of things. He’s certainly not a shaper of history, nor a household name. I can’t really imagine how a Rurik legend would be much of anything except a basic Warrior skillset. Or a way to really, really bother Rytlock over his sword.

after all that pestering they just had to do it to shut the “muh undawota cumbat!” crowd up.

They were reasonable complaints. A good deal of world exploration and storyline quests as well as some dungeon and fractal locations take place under water. Not having the weapons or skills to deal with those would make it impossible to progress through certain places on your own.

well it was obvios that the rev gets underwater combat if its done like all the other classes got and need… but jesus.. the kittening was unreasonable. The kittening was already there before they showed shiro and all the traitlines.

i don’t think that was the point either of us you quoted were trying to make. Yes i know that aquatic combat is ‘necessary’..at least in the sense that there are some very situational uses for it. Spears at least need to make their way to land already.

So to solve the stacking problems in PvE… Anet designs a spec entirely around stacking for these upkeep auras. Flawless logic.

I Imagine these Upkeeps have a pretty large radius if its anything like Pain Absorption the effected area is quite huge so plenty of room for not stacking.
