Since this will be a test in the live-game world including WvW/PvP..

Will we be gaining currency and things for our live account? or will these still be ENTIRELY walled off characters?

Considering that we have the Beta character slot, the latter is most likely. Besides, I will definitely test the Revenant, as well as the bugs that will be in it (guaranteed), but won’t really invest trying to get to 80 in a couple of days.

Mostly get a feel for the class.

I know I’ll be there, but my only real questions are;

- What time does it start this weekend?

- Are we allowed to record? Because I’d love to record only if we are allowed to

It is of course also worth pointing out that since the test will happen on the live server it will be impossible to have an NDA since people will be able to see the Revenants running around ^^

Inb4 the first, “I had <insert precursor of choice> drop on my Revenant…” topic pops up on Friday.

Hopefully it’s anything that isn’t soulbound to the Revenant can be banked, any anything not soulbound in their inventory will be mailed to you after the event is over. Would really like to try out some stat arrays other than full Celestial with the Rev, and I’d like to have the option to just give them all my Warrior’s ascended gear for the weekend to do so.

If we use tomes to level the toon and equip it with gear, bag expansion slots, … will we either get those ‘refunded’ / not used up, or will we be able to keep the toon (respecting any changes made to skills, etc.) come launch, or will we be able to auto-level it to 80, …?

[I’d like to test it in WvW, but as a geared level 80 and not an upleveled level 1 toon with minimal skills and traits (specializations).]

I am just wondering if the revenants made will be instant level 80s or will we have to level them up. I can see a point in letting them level to test any problems with that, but that will make WvW or any high end PvE content unplayable unless we use consumables to level them. I’d rather not do that as I am saving the consumables for when HoT goes live.

Also wondering if they will be able to bank anything they receive from playing that isn’t soulbound. Would hate to play a revenant for the content that I would play with my normal characters and lose out on all the loot from it.

Seems most likely yes, however, it could just as well be that those are preparations for the next beta.

Next beta assuming you talk about wvw one is on a different client. All i am curious about is if we that gear is ascended actually. Sadly no power line so we dont know if rev will be getting passive +25% bonus forcing everyone t pick up traveler/speed runes.

Either way cant w8 to make a review about how bad this class is when it comes to pvp due to lack of stunbreaks haha

Nope, I was referring the next weekend event that they said in the news post was coming soon. Taking anything datamined as anything even resembling a confirmation is not a good idea was the point I was making.

One of the Invocation Traits makes swapping legends a stunbreaker. So… A stun break every ~10 seconds or so.

Yah i know it sounds good on a paper but it reality its far from good, i will just force anyone playing on revenant swap then stunlock them 100-0. Its not hard to do on a mesmer/warrior/engi/necro. Even point blank shot>rapid fire will be enough to do so, then its down to do wolf combo in a form of 1,5 sec taunt+2sec fear after when rapid fire come off cd

Jalis elite skill breaks stun and has no cd, Revenant is infact the king of stunbreak, pun intended :P

I thought the Jalis elite skill was a stun breaker with no cd, or did that change?

It is a stunbreak for 50 energy which lock you into animation as long as prepaparation mantra of distraction – 2.75sec for a 5sec 50% damage reduction buff. If you dont have a dodge to break the animation you in reality selfdaze yourself opening for a burst from anyone. Thats why its bad and i dont count it as a real stunbreak. In fact that skills is poor as it wont even safe you from a burst unlike lets say endure pain which is instant..

Your best bet is to spam stability road like no tomorrow and pray to not get it corrupted into fear.

This is my thought. For the actual HoT beta weekend(s). Those will probably be like the stress test (nothing gets associated with account), so that we can test out the HoT (Verdant Brink again probably) as players see fit, instead of forcing us to use celestial.
And I doubt they’d give us stuff for free (unless it becomes soulbound, unforgable, and unsalvageable).

Also, not all datamined stuff becomes actual ingame stuff. Quite a bit seems to get either unused or discarded.

Lets see how that will work for you then ^^ im going for mallyx/ventari in case of mace/axe. Theres no way ill dedicate a whole set of utilities just for one subpar stunbreak over much needed condi removal.

Why they wont give us answer on official forum? I never understood that.

If you can use items from your own account, I’m looking forward to the first thread where someone put his gemstore harvesting tools and 20 slot bags on his rev, then the char gets deleted at the end of the test period.

I’d wager it is exotic, because ascended being account bound might cause issue with the separation of the beta character from the rest of your account. Even if you couldn’t bank it.

Ascended armors have collections etc, but it could also have to do with how they intended to clean up the beta data from your account once they are over and done with, I’d wager having everything soulbound to a character will simplify that process.

You’ll have a beta character slot you can use to create a Revenant. When playing with a beta character: all progress, items, etc. you get will not be saved once the event is completed.

You can however use your existing characters to play Stronghold, and will continue to earn rewards/progress that is permanent on your account.

While I agree with you entirely, they can just do this again once the final legends and specialization have been announced. For now though, I wouldn’t expect any surprises.

Yes please, no precursor RNG on beta slot… I don’t want to even have a chance of something like that happening and having to lament loosing it.

We all know how pathetic droprate of precurson is and yet i believe we will see “rain of precursons” on revenants hahah inb4 increased droprate by 1000000% just for rev to troll us.
