After playing the Revenant for quite a while, I really have some issues with it… And it all comes down to how rigid they kept the class. I’ll keep it brief:

1) Stuck with utilities: Now I’m ok with the current method of locking utilities with each Legendary. I think it’s a great system and refreshing! What I cannot understand, however, is the choice of locking only 3 utilities to each legendary. I think they mainly did it because of lack of time to implement more.

My suggestion: Add 1 more utility for each legendary (unfortunately, they’ll never do it because of Glint… But one can dream). This will add more diversity in which utilities each legendary can make, and make the class a LOT less predictable. Everyone knows that if someone procs Impossible Odds, they’re probably going in for the kill. A simple block usually takes care of that… So you can see how this wouldn’t harm the profession in any way…

2) Racial skills: Yes, they are useless but I’m one of those people that likes to use them for fun in large-scale PvE events. As a Sylvari Herald, especially, binding roots is an amazing break bar skill and it really annoys me that I cannot equip or use it, despite being. a… sylvari.

3) No profession-mechanic stat: Every stat has a mechanical stat. Elementalists have recharge time on attunements, Engineers have recharge time on toolbelt skills, etc…

Why doesn’t the revenant have this? The higher your Energy Conservation stat (or what ever it’ll be called is) the slower your energy will be consumed on upkeep skills.

Ok, so far my feedback on the Revenant. My closing statement basically is: Please give the revenant more playfulness in their builds. Currently they’re very “locked” in their possibilities, even with their traits… (If you pick Shiro, you’re almost guaranteed to pick Devastation, besides: everyone runs with Invocation and Herald most of the times, with the 3rd trait line being your only real choice.)

Stop whining about stupid things , racial skills for real? Most unneeded skills ingame and anet said they don’t intend to change this . If all you care about is being uniqe just ran as jail ventari with staff hammer, for most rev suit the game pretty well, what rev need is buffs to jail and staff mace skills . Also plz finish our water skills and our down skills

1.) The Revenant (or specifically the Herald) is designed to be stuck with his utilities. That’s why we have two legends on swap.

2.) Yes, there are some racial skills which might useful be in a rare situation on special conditions. The only problem is, that they have to be reworked specifically for the revenant because of energy costs and whatsoever.

3.) Something like that would make Glint alone way too OP. Imagine perma-protection (Facet of Chaos) with a reduced upkeep of -3 through traits. That’s crazy. Especially for PvP.

1) We have 2 sets to swap, it’s a give and take there. It’s not weak, that’s just your opinion.

2)…racials? Really?

3) The profession specific stat doesn’t exist anymore. It got removed with the trait overhaul last June.

I actually agree with you on the racial skills. Mostly useless sure but logically it makes no sense whatsoever that every other class can use them but rev can’t. Would I ever use them probably not but in all fairness it should be included.

Despite the topic, the OP actually has some extremely valid points, unlike someone here who’s whining about other people giving constructive criticism and nothing more.

Invocation is a good line, but for some strange reason, it doesn’t has a minor trait that -CD on legend swap, or decrease energy consumption of skills by 2, or anything related to the Revenant’s core mechanic.

Ranger has pet swap -CD
Warrior has fast-hand.
Ele has attunement swap -CD
Guardian has Virtue -CD
Necro has LF generation speed increase.
Thief has steal -CD
Mesmer has illusion skills -CD
Engineer has tool belt -CD.

Revenant has… Swap legend break stun + fury?
Does that really counts?

They didn’t want to make Invocation seem necessary for Revenants to run how they did with the other classes seeing as Revenant was already limited in customization with skills being bound to legends. Personally, Energy consumption and weapon swap times are fine, to be honest. Energy management becomes second nature after a while.

The reason those types of energy consumption and legend swap reduction traits don’t exist is because they aren’t needed.

I think in terms of build making, Revenant is actually kinda good right now. Has about 3-4 viable pvp builds as far as I’m aware which is actually really good. As well as a solid Raid build in DPS Herald, with potential for Support if we can get Ventari improved.

It would be interesting if they did add a 4th utility for Revenant but Racial skills and energy consumption stat are not needed. Racial skills are horrible.

1. Because you already effectively have double the utilities in combat that most other classes have. You get your customization from what legends you use, and most of their skills are already very powerful.

As for your example claiming that Revs are too predictable against good players? Be less predictable. Also, why would you just sit there and attack a blocking person while draining away your energy with Impossible Odds? Toggle that thing off until their block skill runs out and then engage again. Impossible Odds has a crazy short recharge time. You can actually BUILD UP energy for a bit waiting for the enemy to run out of block.

2) I also really want to have Signet of Humility from Mesmer as my elite at all times. It is an amazing break bar skill, and it also turns your enemy into a Moa, which I still find hilarious. Perhaps not surprisingly, unless you aren’t very bright, my wish isn’t granted. I content myself with the numerous other strong bar breaking skills Recenants have. You can easily do the same. As powerful as Recenants are, you’re fine. If this upsets you, there are a lot of other classes to play which include racials.

3: Because you don’t need it. Every legend has a trait line which gives strong synergy, like Salvation with Centaur or Herald with Dragon. Not only that, but an argument can be made that people would call Boon Duration our unofficial class trait with as much as it does for Revenants. This class is powerful enough without a second required-slot specification after Herald. It actually gives Revenants more room to vary their builds.

Elite Specialization is not the core class specialization.

Glint is NOT the Revanent’s respective core specialization, despite it’s almost mandatory in any Revenant’s build. It is an E-spec that has it’s unique feature that changes how the class works, not the core class specialization.
