Revenant dps rotation - too simple?
Actually, I think it is better to switch legend off CD since it is the fastest way to regen energy and recycle CD.
Shiro is kinda simple because of Impossible Odd.
Glint take a bit of management to spend your energy correctly and having the right upkeep to maximize boons.
A lot of rev maximization will be about constantly staying in meele range and dodge with UA.
It is indeed simple but many meele class ( thief, warrior, ranger or even staff ele) share the same concept. It is mostly about being greedy to constantly sticking to the target without dying :\
I havent tried it but i heard using some of the axe offhand skills off cd also boosts the dmg, than just using sword autos?
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
My guildie is running a mace/axe mallyx build that seems pretty neat. Don’t know how its dps shakes out, but it looks pretty cool.

No, offhand cds are 15sec, not only that, but Frigid Blitz isn’t a dps boost, in fact it’s a dps loss unless you’re at range and are trying to get back to the target.
At first I wanted to use it because everyone said it’s better, but I’d rather stick with sword offhand for the block while in movement. Seems much more useful because we already have a gap closer with shiro’s stance.
Well one nice thing about the offhand axe, is you can kind of use it similarly to BB on the guard to better group up enemies.
Just don’t complain OP if you die because you had 0 energy and could’t use Riposting Shadows.

Well of course there’s dodging, blocking, support skills as needed, and so on.
But all classes have to deal with that…
All other classes also have a more complicated rotation when they can just stand there and dps though.
In theory, yes, it’s incredibly simple. You activate impossible odds and autoattack until death. Unfortunately, in these scenarios you often have an opponent.
If you were to activate impossible odds at let’s say 75% health against 1 opponent: first you lose 10 energy from the activation and then lose 5 per second until you’re out or you turn it off. In my experience, if your opponent blocks you, uses some cc or has you in multiple aoes (especially ones that apply conditions), you’re screwed. If any of those things are done effectively, that’s it – you’re pretty much done against anyone with a brain.
So ultimately, while this strategy may be simple, it’s quite hard to figure out when to apply it effectively in which case your rotation will become a lot more complex.
I won’t go in to what happens when you’re playing against multiple opponents. Anything could happen really.
I won’t go in to PvE because lol. I’ll get back to you once raids are up and running.
Like Yak said above, in PvE that will work fine as long as you save energy for emergencies, do that in PvP however and you’re just going to be face-tanking the ground very often.

Revenant isn’t about complex skill rotations. It is brimming with situational abilities that aren’t necessarily intended to be used on cooldown, though there are exceptions. Generally speaking, though, good dps doesn’t require hitting every skill on cooldown. I happen to love this, but understand it won’t be for everyone.
I like, for a change, an easier dps rotation seeing as my main is engineer so I appreciate that rev is easier but that’s good. Finally a good autoattack that’s not a waste to use.
I’ve played power necro, guardian, and mesmer since release. In my experience, auto-attack is where damage comes from in GW2. Most cooldowns are for specific cases. I understand that engineer, thief, and elementalist have rotations better than auto-attacking. Perhaps the revenant is supposed to be more like the former than the latter.
Simple rotation for simple PvE.
It gets more interesting in more demanding encounters.

idk, I’d rather have a simple rotation than the Engi’s 59 steps rotation for optimal DPS.

Totally! Try solo a champ

Also this, and since i specifically coming from engi, I prefer a simplier rotation where i can be more engaged in the actual combat than the cooldowns :P (even tho i love my piano feeling on engi )

I thought switching legends at 100 energy is bad, because energy always starts at 50 after a swap?

yes indeed, is always worth drop the energy under 50% before swap.
In shiro basically cast a free jade winds and swap out if you need
Wat r u, casul?
You want to swap your legends as soon as your Energy goes to zero, since the 10 seconds of Legend recharge equals a regeneration of 50 energy, which basically means you can use free 50 energy from another Legend while the one recharging acts like it was regenerating to 50 so you can use it again. Swap all day long.

The reason it is simple is because energy is a finite resource for Revenant. There will always be the use this ability for maximum damage, followed by secondary/tertiary and autoattack. It just happens to be Shiro/Sword (mainly because Glint is still mostly locked out by the masses as HoT starts).
As long as energy is the funnel of action (and not cooldowns), this simple rotation will exist like this. Thief playstyle is really no different (use your most damaging initiative attack, reserve for escape initiative, and autoattack).
And of course, there are plenty of situational needs to “reserve” energy to protect against burst or have other utility. This could be as simple as leaving 5 energy for healing skill or 30 for a Stun Break/Riposting Shadows or for a Block skill, etc.
