Revenant will not get underwater combat?
Yes.. The class will obviously get access to underwater combat, otherwise it would be impossible to do World completion.

Kind of my point only I put it down a bit more dramatic. Underwater combat may be broken but is still a big part of the game, so I would really like to know how it works and if every legend is available underwater.
The legends don’t affect your weapon skills, so the only thing that’s necessary is for the utility skills to work underwater.
ArenaNet definitely seems to be de-emphasizing underwater combat. They’re probably not doing a big announcement for the Revenant’s underwater weapon(s) because it’s not really all that exciting and it doesn’t matter 95% (or more) of the time. Their weapons are all melee, though, so I’d guess spear is a shoe-in, unless they give them melee trident to go with the melee staff.
(Similarly, if the elite specialization’s weapon isn’t ranged, I’ll be really surprised.)
Almost every arc of the personal story takes the player underwater, no matter what path you choose. That assures Rev will be going swimming.

There is one last piece of the puzzle for the revenant in the expansion—the elite specialization for the revenant hasn’t been announced yet, but that will have to wait a bit longer.
While I’m sure an elite specialization may seem important while still being optional, the underwater combat still need to be adressed before saying this.
I know that talking about underwater combat may seem boring for people that focus on PvP (since the only PvP map with underwater combat have been removed) but this particular aspect of the base profession is still needed in the new player experience, for fractals and dungeon. So please do not wait until we reach Xpac “Y” where we will have to fight the water dragon for releasing an underwater focused elite specialization for the revenant which would add 1 weapon.
This is the third thread so far I’ve seen about this. Anyone want to take bets how many pop up before merge?

you didnt hear?
Underwater combat is being removed from the game..
JK
They will have to change a lot of existing map for that…
I can remember that someone test and legends don’t even show skills underwater.
Maybe it’s like the devil fruits, once you drop in the water, boom, immobilized.

JK = just kidding
I blame Roy. If something goes wrong, blame Roy. But no, to be honest i think he just forgot about it or guys at AN dont care about underwater combat at all. Maybe he will show spear on stream still. And even if not..i dont care. Theres nothing to do underwater.

There’s world events. Personally, I like the underwater stuff.
I kinda hope they just drain every lake and body of water. All will be accessible then by running and without dealing with underwater combat
Talk about a sky is falling post… No deductive reasoning either.
Roy confirmed that underwater abilities are coming to Revenant soon™.

He did so here. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/Thank-you-for-Shiro-Dual-Swords/first#post5287887
Revenant will get underwater combat. Just haven’t talked about it yet. soon™.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.

Roy you made my day that even you use the TM sign after “soon”

Thanks Roy for you reply I am looking forward to what you have in mind for Revenant underwater.
Info on underwater combat will be provided, as Roy says, “soon™.”

I wish Anet doesnt give up on underwater stuff. I think there is still hope for it.
me too. it needs a rework/overhaul, though
I absolutely agree. I would love the underwater to be reworked to reach its potential.

I would recommend giving the revenant 2 underwater specific legends. This make it so that when new land-based legends are made, you don’t need to go back and create underwater versions for every land based legend created.
Some good options for UW rev would be:
Kanaxai: (condition, demon stance. He did come from a place called the Deep after all.)
Kuunavang: (power/ranged magical DPS. She was a giant saltspray dragon.)
For all that is holy, do not squander Kuunavang on underwater combat…
Largos stance, seriously, how cool would it be to have something actually different from the same old same old spear/harpoon and do sword/sword underwater??
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Calling it, Droobrut: The legendary “troll” stance.
This is the only way to do justice to Revenants underwater :P.

Lower case s with quotes and a trademark….interesting. This time table sounds staggeringly familiar. Does this mean that the date has indeed been though of and perhaps penciled in on a calendar somewhere? But alas, I forget, the TM and use of quotes potentially extends that period of time…
