Only Better…
Searing Fissure (fix it please)
I also notice this
Yep totally, it share the same tech as hammer#2 and thus suffers for the same bug…devs are already working on it
Wat r u, casul?
I just purchased HoT yesterday and this issue is still present in the game. wth?
I know what you mean. Shortly after HoT came out I was really liking Mace on the Revenant but Searing Fissure only working part of the time just got too frustrating and I put the Mace in storage until the issue got fixed. I’m also a bit disappointed that this issue is still not fixed this long after launch.
yea this is still an issue, axe 5 also behaves the same. It really makes our dps unreliable unless your on a flat arena floor
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.
For some reason Anet is unable to code properly when it comes to anything involving the z axis. Getting immobilized in mid air locks you out from skills, often times shadowsteps don’t work when they are supposed to and pulls sometimes launch people in the air.
I lost a fight to a condi mes because after I pulled with grasping shadows, i used auto attack to finish off and hit nothing for the full stun duration even though the mes was right in front of me only for the mes to rubberband back to where i pulled em from.
Same thing happened against another revenant except no rubberband, still dont understand how i would be hitting nothing when the target is right in front of me.
Searing fissure is just another one of many but yet the studio will continue to spit out these fancy skills even though they sometimes dont work when they are supposed to
I think this problem is not in the skills themselves but in the ground texture, that’s why it is so hard to fix. Just yesterday an engineer in PvP accidentally made a vertical Thunderclap that didn’t hit anyone, making it not a class issue but an issue with all ground targeted skills. But since rev skills are not placeable, the problem shows more frequently.

Here is a question for you cause its interesing one. Earthshaker, Phase smash and Anguish are quite similiar in it own way. They all leap to x area, if you end up hitting in “air” earthshaker and phase will do nothing, but not anguish. Despite landing in air you still create a field on the ground that damages just fine. It also doesnt suffer from issues like searing. If the field is down, it will always hit. Why?
Now the funny trick i found with searing issue is that if it doesnt hit on terrain (even flat sometimes) doing a jump before it goes off usually fixes that issue, it also goes to rift (axe 5).
Moreover which i been abusing hard in wvw – in certain places you can hit anything above/below you with searing issue/rift. At SM with proper position you can hit people on cannon while at veloka you can hit ppl under you at cata spot.
There are tons of abilities that hits just fine, if anything its down to their kitten poor code. Another example – shacking wave and Glint elite will miss on uneven terrain like stairs, maul doesnt have that issue. I could write a book about it honestly.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.

Dude, I’m just theorizing, I don’t claim to be an expert. But I think you may have answered your own question. While Earthshaker, for example, looks similar to Unyielding Anguish, how they function may be actually different. For one, Earthshaker doesn’t leave behind a field. Field is a stationary ground function, whereas Earthshaker is essentially is a jump with a melee attack attached to it.
Keeping in mind that GW2 operates in a modified GW1 engine, it may be that the game doesn’t have true 3D functionality. Instead, it operates the Z-axis by tilting and rotating the X- and Y-axis(es?). So while Anguish lands basically in air, the field is created to the closest point below it in the X- and Y-axis. This in turn doesn’t happen with Earthshaker.

2 skills I love/hate on rev, hammer 2 and sword 3. They are great skills, just garbage on terrain, worse than my rangers longow.
