What if the spirits could be summoned for a duration of time like the Charr warband race skill.
While summoned, the Revenant could command them to proc their Wells at a specific location or cancel it and come back.
This will both give us the feeling of a warband and ambush. I

It would be great to be able to order the summons around to different locations or cancel their Wells if we need to move.

I would honestly not mind if the summons became an upkeep to allow this.

What do you guys think?

The biggest issue with them being spirits is that they are spirits. Every class in the game dreads getting pets or pet like mechanics because even if they don’t actually attack they can still be CC’d and cleaved down. I’m pretty sure they can even be pulled/pushed/etc based on the fact they can be feared (when feared they run away, then setup to do their effect again). These just make them horrendous for any kind of competitive play.

The second biggest issue is they have cast times, energy costs and cool downs. Revenant was designed to not have that many cast times and cool downs due to energy cost. If they wanna mix things up and have cast times and cool downs the energy costs need to come way down to compensate.

So adding more spirits that follow you like a Warband isn’t going fix the current problems with them. I’d love to see them as offensive auras instead of defensive ones like Glint, but I feel like that’s pushing it a bit much and likely wouldn’t synergize with short bow very well.

After playing several PvP matches (some of which I actually won) I would say that the heal should be instant cast on the players location at the very least. And that particular summon should be invulnerable. The same could be said for the elite. It would also be nice if those two at least followed the player as they move around. The rest don’t bother me too much but the cast times are pretty heinous. I can also see how having the warband members be targeted will make them well neigh useless in WvW combat.

You know all the negative criticisms of Ventari tablet? Well, what if we make it stationary, less range, and call the things “spirits”! Also lets give them HP and allow them to be cc/killed! – ANET devs

Every kitten skill from the heal to the elite has a cast time. I don’t get why the elite requires you to be in the area. Why not make it a moving field like F3, Berserker torch 5, engi healing turret toolbelt, etc? There is 0 kiting potential in this legend/kit. SB 5 could have easily become a knock back to give us some breathing room. Okay, I can get that a knock down is needed for balance but there is nothing in shortbow/kalla that allows you to move. You can’t even SB4 behind yourself. No swiftness/superspeed. No leaps, evades, knockbacks. And worst of all, the utilities REQUIRE you to stay in an area.

I don’t think I want Ventari 2.0 with moving spirits.

Even in cosmetics. There is no need. The warband is “inside you”.

Also what if the healing was decent?
And what if they revert some of the nerfs we got in 2 years?

This. Pretty much sums it up. When is the last time you actually see rangers run spirits. Even if you do happen to see 1 they are seriously minorities.

No they don’t. Have you played a minion necro recently? Or a ranger? Or a mesmer?

I know there are weaknesses with each of their pets but there are also considerable strengths.

I solo’ed a level 40 something champion with my necro who was seven levels under it, with a blue weapon 6 levels old and even worse armor. Easily. Not skilfully. Easily. Just spam 2 and 3 on staff and re-summon minions.

I agree with that being a problem but don’t agree that “mixing it up” is an option.

People play the profs they play for a reason. Mechanics is one of them.

I use them only for long encounters which don’t move. Their 20 second cooldown makes them too annoying to use for anything else.

Though personally I love both their function and appearance.

I believe the Spirit summons need to be made into Chain skills with a given chain ability to used once summoned, to go along with their passive nature.

Because I am tired of all these passive elite spec concepts for Revenant. Nothing interesting to look forward to for this class in the future. The creativity is lacking for this class
