Recently since the new patch I’ve been getting asked this question very frequently. “Sword/Axe Rev good to use in PvP and WvW?” Personally, I love AXE off hand. It has great CC with awesome mobility. It can be used to target other players and escape or put damage on players that wouldn’t expect it from range. Also, it guarantees sword #3 to hit almost every time in combo. The question is, Are you ok with losing all the healing shield gives you to be more of a thief? Or do you want to be stationary and take more damage? Personally, I roam with Sword/Axe & Shield all the time so I love both. It all depends on the fights I am going to get into and or the scenario. With Axe you have to be a lot more defensive when playing it. In this video I could have gotten more kills in some scenerios. But without the shield to help me reset some fights I had no choice but to run away and try again. Don’t be afraid to test it out yourself. It is fun and I think it works very well. Nice video. I’ve always used axe with my rev, never really liked shield. It’s good to see ppl trying something else. Btw nice video, it’s so good to see some ppl care about rev still. Last video you posted i said your enemies sucked but in fact you’re quite a good rev.
I always find myself playing way more aggressively when I use offhand axe. Maybe it’s because Frigid Blitz is one of my favorite revenant skills although it frequently feels superfluous if I have Shiro. Temporal Rift is good for the pull on power builds but imo it’s far more devastating with condi builds because of all the aoe torment.

I’d like frigid blitz a lot more if the cast time/animation was a tad shorter and the projectile speed was also quicker.
Against anyone with a brain, axe offhand simply will miss most of its skills, especially the daredevils which you most need that axe for, they just laugh at both axe skills because they’re pretty slow, with hefty energy costs and moderate cooldowns.
Thief dodge also needs to lose the chill removal. Chill has been made all but useless with all the warriors and thieves roaming around being pretty much immune to chill when chill is such a low uptime condition and it should not be so easily gotten rid of.
