what happens when 2 revs pop their now evading sword skill as the same time? since their evade comes via passing through the mists, what both will do, does one mist evade cancels the other? Or will they just get lost in the mists? I need clearification ._.

I guess they will both evade each others strikes. Last beta when me and another rev hit UA the same time the animation was really odd, both of us blinking around and we were actually moving each other somehow, even when we were both locked to the animation.

Both will evade each other. It will be funny and i can foresee many lol vids on yt. What i am curious about when it comes to this ability is;

1. Did sword 3 got a progress bar like every other channeled ability so i can know when it will end?
2. Will it continue attacking ambient mobs, and yellow ones like braindead zombie?
3. Will it still cancel itself if someone go invis or stand next to wall? Espesially on stealth as thats a bit bullkitten considering the fact that no other channeled ability break on stealth. None.

Too bad its something that can be answered olny by Roy.

You could do this to the Smokescale enemies in Verdant Brink and I believe they had evade (or maybe I was in their blind field) and it still continued with the attacks regardless. So I’m guessing even if the opponent evades it will still continue the entire animation/attack until it’d normally end. It also did the same “shifting” movement as you teleported to where it is then it teleported to where you are and slowly this dragged you away from where you both started.

That would be so lame if it were working this way.. I would literally drop sword and never look back.

What will happen if warriors sue whirlwind in each other? Nothing, both evades…Sames goes for sword 3.

Each hit is independent of the previous hit and doesn’t need the previous hit to connect in order to initiate. Not sure why there is impression that the next hit requires the previous one to actually successfully hit someone. Just try 2 mesmers do sword 2 at each other and see if they both stop mid-skill just because they all fail to hit one another.

While you are correct I noticed several bugs during the first BWE where the skill would just drop me out of the animation for no reason what so ever. People probably thought that it was because the skill was evaded or something ,but that’s not the case it just messes up from time to time.

I don’t think it’s intended for tracking. About the wall block, if that’s true, I think it might be because the game calculates your next position for the next hit, then check to see if it is valid. The wall probably causes that check to fail , and the game probably does not recalculate again for a proper position so it cancel out of … laziness.

If someone is stupid enough to go invis while being attacked by channeled ability, thats his own mistake and should get punished for it. Decent players adapted long ago. Sword 3 is also nothing but channeled ability and should track like every other ability. Simple as that.

Heck, arguably Unrelenting Assault has MORE justification for it. Does invisibility magic help against an opponent who’s attacking you from the Mists?

That makes no sense. There are plenty of skills that continue to track a stealther today. One perfect example is Ranger’s Rapidfire.
EDIT: Didn’t see skowcia’s post, but he has it. To me, this is a way to counter stealthers to begin with. Sword3 should be no different.

You’re forgetting one very important key note: the attack is spread out to multiple targets in the area and is not single target, unlike all of those other channeled abilities. This targetting also includes, clones, pets, minions, etc, etc.

If you’re going to argue that 1v1 makes it OP, this game isn’t balanced for 1v1. Therefore, it’d be a nil point.

Most of it damage is also reduced by over half if you do just 1 dodge. Hard cc like line of warding can still knock you out. Same goes for (bugged?) pet taunt. Then there are still blocks etc. If someone is around be it ranger pet, mes clones, necro minions or simply another player your damage is drastically reduced as well.

In many cases you will do lower damage than by simply autoattacking 1 person. The evade part makes it more like a defensive skill rather than offensive. There is no reason to not let it track stealted players. Channeled abilities are there to counter stealth stuff in the first place. If someone lack brain and goes stealth under channeled ability its not our fault.

Ps. i thought blink/shadowsteps already counter sword 3. Just at the end of cast do blink/shadowstep and pooof. Out of range. GG WP. It can also be losd. Stand next to wall. Problem solved as i dont think they ever fix that.

There is no reason to not let it track stealted players. Channeled abilities are there to counter stealth stuff in the first place. Or if you want to make it counterable by invis then let sword 3 apply reveal on each hit. Now you have a way to counter – go stealth before the skill will hit you or get revealed and lose access to stealth completely. Fair trade. My skill should keep running even if theres nothing to hit otherwise ill lose my much needed evade to stand in one place due to aftercast and get backstabbed. Fun.

It definitely has to be a factor. Plus, it already has the potential to nearly 100-0 a zerk thief even if only half of it hits, aka 2v1 (barring evades).

Not to mention, the target would actually have to be fairly close to an ally. Which, even in team fights, isn’t necessarily always the case—so it’s not just 1v1.

Well that would really need bererker amulet on both sites which would mean the thief can oneshot the rev with one combo too so where is your point….

+Last BWE it did less then the sword autoattack so why shoun’t it recieve a dmg boost just try it out next BWE and see for yourself. They won’t chance anything if you are complaining now.

Plus, berserker ammy is supposed to be high-risk to balance against what you can do to everyone else in general.
