Add to Vengeful Hammers a 1 sec pulse of Protection with 1 sec interval, like you did with Impossible Odds. If its baseline is too strong, make it a master trait on Retribution.

I would like to see this. The jalis skills need to help with survivability more. Currently they are very lackluster in this regard. I would think it would need to be baseline though. Currently I see very little reason to use Jalis.

But the cast time of Rite of the Great Dwarf is half of the duration, and it’s not worth using when you’re alone.

I know about it. But Roy doesnt. Rite should be an upkeep or invul. In current state its a trash skill holding back the entire legend as he wont get other tools to reduce damage as long as useless rite is around.

Rite is unusable because of the cast time.

That is useless in SPvP when players can burst you down regardless of armor type.

that cast time on Rite is too long for its use. Dont even get self protection when casting it. Only useful for pve tanking in which mobs are more easier to control, or in group pvp when not focus fired on.

The problem I have with Rite is that, in addition to it’s cast time, it does not provide any protection against CCs or conditions. This might be fine in reducing damage from a large single attack in PvE (if you can predict such an attack 2.5 seconds ahead of time…), but in PvP, direct damage mitigation alone is not sufficient – especially on such a long cast time. I think the effect should also reduce condition duration on affected targets, and perhaps even add stability.

Rite takes too long to cast for an elite. It’s not like Signet of Courage where it fully heals everyone, I think it should be instant cast or at least 1 second cast time.

I think alot of you are underestimating how good rite of the great dwarf is, I for one think that it works fine as far as the elite status and I don’t think it should be an upkeep, that said though, the cast time is ridiculous for the current version, a cool effect could be maybe while it’s active on you your either immune to cc, or it pulses stacks of stability? I mean the whole idea is you are made of stone for the duration so I think that it should affect cc somehow. Either make the cast time 0.5 seconds or instant and keep it in it’s current state, or make an additional effect be immune to Crowd Control or it pulses Stability on you.

On the topic of vengeful hammers, I fully agree with OP, vengeful hammers is a useless upkeep skill in it’s current form, I mean compare it to Shiro’s impossible odd’s or even Mallyx’s embrace the darkness, it’s useless, having it pulse protection on you would be a nice effect and would certainly fit in with the “tank” theme of Jarlis

It’s just really weird and oddly pushed into a defense legend. It should have a small duration protection proc every time one of the spinning hammers connects on an enemy or a cripple.

At least then it fits more into defensive set.

I don’t think it’s wrong for a single offensive skill to have a place in the defensive legend. I think we can all agree that it needs a buff though, e.g. lower energy cost, added effect (cripple, protection), or more damage. Some of these effects could come from traits – as an upkeep skill, some builds may simply not have the energy to devote to using it often, whereas other builds could specialize in it through traits.

Actually, I’m suprised there isn’t a trait that revolves around upkeep skills in the Invocation trait line seeming it’s the general class line. Like it would give each one an additional effect on energy depletion tick.

Jalis – Vengeful hammers: Applies protection

Ventari – Protectice solace: Applies vigor

Mallyx – Embrace the darkness: Applies resistance maybe?

Shiro – Impossible odds: I dunno

But you get the idea.

Given how the 4 original legends have an upkeep, it almost feels like a rev ‘thing’ so I also wouldn’t be suprised if Glint + future legends all have one aswell.

Make it 1s cast with 50 energy cost that does what it does + resistance to allies and self + protection for caster.

@khenzo might be too must-have. Rather have them do it skill-by-skill. Shiro’s upkeep is already strong as it is.

Last rights only use is on initial engage unfortunately, or on a regroup. Couldnt find any other way to use it during the beta weekend. WvW is just too fast paced to even consider casting it at any other time.

It was nice support for the raid leader (was in their group) but beyond that meh. I would settle with them shaving 1s of the casting time.

This needs to have a chance to proc some kind of random effect depending on weapon in main hand.

SWORD proc a damage proc.

STAFF proc a heal

HAMMER proc protection

MACE proc Vulnerability
