I’m returning after a hiatus of a couple of months, and i wanted to play the revenant as a new main.
My main focus would be dungeons/fractals/raids and I am a healer at heart.
I know that the Druid is supposed to be the main healer because of is versatility. But i like the idea of the Rev more.
The question now is, how viable are they when it comes to those endgame stuff in a role of a healer and how much does it take to convince people to give me a chance instead of the current meta.

It all depends if you have guild/static group (planning to look for one) or you will be mainly puging stuff.
As main Rev since pretty much start of expansion and still exclusively playing it, I feel like I can’t recommend it at all unfortunately.
Its almost impossible to find pug for raids as damage revenant, let alone healer (beside 1 boss as kiter out of all 4 wings). Tho, keep in mind that there is always option where you start your own raids. Finding guild or static group could work but then again I can only say this from experience, even in guilds you will eventually face times when you will be asked “hey mind playing X class for this encounter” or “mind playing this for progress” and such.
I guess doing Fractals and Dungeons shouldn’t be issue whatever you play but generally full healers are not something that tends to work out that great in pugs since nature of revenants healing, and believe me(tried it many times) it can be hell trying to keep people alive while they run around with no sense of your tablet at all. At that point might as well roll as power in fractals.
All in all, make sure to think through your decision extensively before you commit to revenant as main. I could type and make it grim even more but looking at revenant forum section here tells you all. In essence every profession is playable, some with ease, some with hard times.
I still play revenant as main pretty much exclusively (mainly because I’m stubborn and tend to stick to class I play and generally improve upon it rather that switching alts all the time), but it’s been hard lately, so much that I’m tempted to finally give in and reroll.

The healing is okay, but requires too much investment and loss of dps to compete with druids really. Fun to backline in WvW with though.

I run a zealots Devastation/Salvation/Herald with monk runes for fractals, sometimes in raids. Don’t let people tell you it doesn’t work, because it does. The problem is that this community is deadset against anything that isn’t meta, so you’ll have a hard time finding groups.

Anything works, but there’s no reason to take a healing Herald over a Druid. Druid is ‘enough’ healing with a lot of offensive support, whereas Herald has the best healing but provides no meaningful support.

I will say, however, that Magi’s Ventari Herald is the best class for hands and projectile kiting at Deimos and Cairn raid bosses, respectively.
