My final opinions on everything Renegade PvP based on my playtime on it in beta. In this video I haven’t dived much into reviewing shortbow, as I did a separate video on it. You can find it here: http://bit.ly/2v3RjJn

For people wondering – I also tested Support Renegade for couple hours (with and without Ventari) and Power Renegade. In the first case, it doesn’t work great and is worse than Support Herald. In the second case, Power Renegade works, but is mostly carried by core aspects of power Revenant – it’s a major downgrade to Power Herald.

I watched the whole thing. Pretty good assessment but I disagree on one major point. Vindication(GM trait) can and does compete very strongly against Lasting Legacy. You tested it and got 10-12 stacks of might but you are forgetting something very important. It does not have an ICD. It procs might off of when you gain Kallas Fervour. Kallas Fervour also does not have an ICD. Shortbow can pierce and AOE. If you used it on the cluster of Heavy Golems, you can get 20-25 stacks of might even if it lasts a short duration. That’s an extra 600-750 power and condition damage.

The only way I see Kallas fervour being better if you are facing a single target and if you want to share 10 stacks of might via F2. Maybe a boss scenario. Vindication is excellent for large groups where you can pierce with heartpiercer. The extra missles also synergize well for the larger groups you’re facing. A little bit of boon duration also goes a long way. Testing it with strength runes, the new “strength” sigil(forgot it’s name) and pop F2 once in a while, you can self sustain full might on a single target.

Vindication also benefits both power and condi builds, The 300 ferocity from Lasting Legacy only add ~20% extra ferocity which isn’t that impactful for a power build whereas 20-25 might is a huge increase. I don’t know if the might is stronger than the 20% condi damage but Lasting Legacy will definitely be better in a min/max group(PvE) that has other sources of might.

There’s also the obvious pros and cons with pvp/wvw as the might can be stripped/corrupted making Lasting Legacy better because it’s an effect. It’s a risk but I find Vindication good for the bursty aspect as it’s free might in addition to the 5 stacks of Kallas Fervour.

My criticsm of Vindication’s might-stacking effect is that it lasts for just 3 seconds base. It can absolutely get to higher numbers if you hit multiple targets on regular basis, but that mostly happens in WvW. In organised WvW groups, I don’t need that much self-mightstacking already because between people in the squad/group Might is already covered.

In PvP, what is the focus of the video, those stacks of Might don’t get that high, especially if you happen to be skirmishing a lot. And then, even if Might gets to respectable level, due to duration it will drop off very quickly.
Increasing the duration per stack to 5-6 seconds would make Vindication more of an option.

However, as I said in the video, the reason why you would go for Renegade as condi rev in PvP is the fat damage modifier. If I wanted Might, I have it in Herald. Doubling the damage modifier just goes along the best with what I want from the specialization and that’s what makes Lasting Legacy so dominant. Righteous Rebel takes the second place because it provides something every Condition Revenant wants – defense. Vindication brings something Condi Rev already has in PvP, together with an improvement to the worst Citadel Order of all.

I’m not arguing it’s better than Herald for might generation. For those like me, who are sick of playing herald for 2 years, it’s another option and it’s definitely not as bad as you make it out to be. That isn’t to say I’m happy with it. No, of course not. I would love to see higher boon duration but I don’t believe it’s adept worthy.

Lasting Legacy is good for pure condi. Kallas Fervour(and renegade) tip toes around its hybrid nature with emphasis on crit and added ferocity. If you go power, the extra 20% condi damage from Lasting Legacy is useless while the extra 150 ferocity is masters quality as seen on Assassin’s Presence. In contrast, the free might you get from Vindication is also inline with the masters trait in Invocation(Incensed Response). I agree with you, the duration needs to be buffed which is simply a technical change rather than mechanical change.

Ignoring the mechanical flaws of these summons, Kalla stance can be improve across the board for both power and condi with some minor changes. Simply adding chill to icerazor would allow synergy with Abyssal Chill and properly scaling the spirits with power would buff icerazor and darkrazor for power.

You say Citadel Bombardment is bad. But that’s not saying much considering they’re all mediocre at best.

It’s unlikely that the devs would redo Renegade but what they can do is minor tweaks(QOL changes/numbers) and reduce energy across the board, which we’re in agreement with.
