[WVW] Phase Traversal nerf was too much
I don’t really like sPvP either, so I understand your frustration. The nerf made me drop Herald from my current roaming build and I just run Shiro/Mallyx now. Using Phase Traversal, Unyielding Anguish and Frigid Blitz is the most I can do if I want a chance to keep up with a thief or mesmer. If I were using Shiro/Glint they could just run from me endlessly knowing at best I’d only be able to reach them once every 7 seconds.
Yep, with the hammer damage and utility being useless and relying only in mele weapons fights against builds with high access to disengage (most of the ones in wvw roaming) the current PT is unable to compete, and Rev builds based on conditions works better. Power Herald is only viable vs very specific builds with low mobility as DH and Bow/Mace Warriors.
No matter what, increasing any skill’s cost by 75%, is way too much for balancing.
It would be more reasonable to increase 25%, see how it goes, then increase it once more if you see the previous increase was not enough. This lets players and devs evaluate the change and adopt, maybe making some suggestions.
Going from sky-high to rock-bottom only leads to lost time instead of balancing.
They’ve always done silly unecessary things like this. They did it with vigor, they did it with sigils, theyv’e done it so many times with the classes. Unecessary buffs and unecessary nerfs because they have no idea what testing means. It is going to happen again, probably to rev as well since i doubt the nerfs are over.
Edit: Actually the pointless buffs and nerfs wouldnt be so bad, i can understand experimenting if it didnt take them months to correct it and at least 9 times out of 10 they correct it eventually. So that thing they say about waiting to see the effect of changes is really pointless.
I promise you this nerf, they will reverse it, may not be today or tomorrow may not even be in the next few months but at some point they will change it. Making his nerf then wait and see attempt really pointless

This is the bad part of it…
Supposedly they give time to the community to adopt! Still some changes are unnecessarily big and silly that can turn strong stuff to garbage or garbage to OP’ed!
They can hardly draw any conclusion from such procedure and the bad change stays there for several months.
A lot of good can come out from experimenting, some times you can find new ways to design something other than the original intent. Somethings can also only be tested properly using a large number of people. Where Anet gets lost is how long to test it for and they are so bad at checking their own intentions so they end up back tracking a lot.
It would be much better to run ideas through unranked and hotjoin before taking it to ranked.
This actually all could be a game Anet is playing, every year there is always at least one class that is broken and at least one that is underpowered. The following year the underpowered class is broken and the broken class is underpowered. If it isnt that, then it is build specific where so many builds are unplayable or only one build is playable for a class.
The other thing is that large sledgehammer nerfs/buffs once every 3 months is just about the worst way to balance a game. Should be small nerfs/buffs once a month, with no changes being more than 10% in either direction in one go.
