What builds are you thinking about ?
this was my approach. But with the condtion cleaning… i am considering mallyx instead of shiro.
Here’s a first try on a mallyx build:

For PvP, there are IMHO several pretty strong builds:
Carrion Teamfight or 1v1 vs builds that rely on conditions (like DD)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQRAsX5unfN2gSuJvQRHlboskyPU4S5IKor8EllTlhdpnmKNgEWwO93rH-TZRHwAA3fIwTAAZZAAHEABnAAA
I really like the water-rune on both builds actually, since the amount of boons is huge and you benefit a lot from added healing power, since a big part of the traits and skills have a healing component to them.
Power-based offensive roamer
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAsemnvN2gS6JvQRVlbosryPUYW5IKYs8EllZlhdmb2RNgEawO6r/G-TpBFABiXGIp9HI4BA02RAYhDBAAnAAA
Pretty sick mobility and DMG. The build also has insane utility:
- Stability + Quickness for stomps, rezzes, downed-cleave and dps-spikes
- Tons of boons for you and the teammates
- A lot of evades and invulnerabilities
- Some CC and very strong AoE on the staff.
- Pretty weak against conditions though and not as good in teamfights (still decent though), since he’s melee only and tons of DMG from Sword 3 get too spread out across multiple targets.
I also have different variations of the build, mostly switching out either retribution or invocation for devastation because of the huge amount of life-leech. Often I’ve also used Pack runes and switched Fury on heal for the condi-remove.
Hammer also works instead of the Staff for better teamfight/ranged DPS, but u loose the best condi-remove of the build and Staff 5 for it.
I absolutely loved playing those two builds; they both are strong, have a pretty clear role and specific things they do well that can’t simply be done better by other classes. They are some of the harder builds on any class IMHO and the opponent has options for counterplay that aren’t easy to pull off, but very effective and rewarding.
Bunker/Support
I’ve also been toying around with this bunker-build, it seems pretty strong, but it’s kinda hard to properly test a build like that in random groups, since it doesn’t fit in every teamcomp.
I’ve also been testing it with salvation, but I think the added healing doesn’t make up for the lack of stability (which is IMHO crucial for a full bunker/support) or the added stunbreak.
It’s also possible to play the build with pack-runes for added dps, but again: I just love those water-runes on most rev-builds!
(edited by PowerBottom.5796)
For groups, I’d swap to Assassin’s Presence (if needed) and Swift Termination.
I mostly prefer to play physical/direct damage melee builds with a ranged back-up and excellent melee support. I’m still debating if I want to go with Warrior (or possibly Forge) for raiding, but I get the feeling that I’m going to want the legendary heavy armor over medium (because Magitech is amazing already) and Sword+Axe looks cooler to me than a GS.
An Insane(ly Intelligent) Genius!
“Did you just tell me the rules? Never tell me the rules!”
I went with Glint and Mallyx, but otherwise everything has already been mentioned from posts above. I elected to go with Berserkyrie Trinkets to make help make sure I didn’t go above the 100% crit. In the world of both Warrior banner and Spotter I went over just a bit (.67%). Though that assumes full Ascended trinkets across the board.
Primarily goal is to make sure Facet of Nature is up for high boon uptime and toggling other facets as needed. Otherwise aiming for high damage through Active Facet attacks and Mallyx’s EtD (which unfortunately puts me over 100% crit). A tad bit more heath from the trinkets, and quite a bit of incoming toughness from Hardening Persistence.
(edited by savacli.8172)
Glint/Jalis, hammer/sword/shield, devastation/invocation/herald for me. Nice defensive abilities to offset relative fragility of berserker gear.
There are some builds here which I have thought about myself
Now for a little support twist!
1756 Healing Power
When using healing skill (like Ventari’s Will) You grant & get Protection from Bolster Fortifications as well as 3 stacks of Might + Fury to allies from Runes.
Sigils for healing on hit/swap
Boon duration 15% Herald + 10% Rune + 50% Facet of Nature
Outgoing Healing 10% food, 15% minor, 25% energy above 50, +20% from health above 75%, +20% after invoking a legend for 10s, 26,34% from Selfless Amplification
Total Outgoing Healing: 116,34%
Lots of boons for yourself and allies as well as CC from Herald Elite & Staff.
Lots of Healing, lots of utility, lots of boons and quite decent dmg for a healer/support.
Estimates on properly used skills with these % increases and stats (on allies).
Regeneration ~700 per second
Envoy of Exuberance ~5600
Ventari’s Will ~3000
Natural Harmony 5300
Purifying Essence (not entirely sure if heal on condi remove is affected by outgoing healing but if it is…) 1300 per condi
Energy Expulsion ~3600 per fragment.
Project Tranquility max of ~835 but more likely around 600 on normal every 3 sec
Keep in mind you cannot have all of these up because of how these % work but you can do huge burst heals for very little costs and then have a bit weaker burst heals but still tremendous.

Can someone explain this to me, please? Where is the other 15% coming from? Warrior banner is about 8 percent, right? Is the rest assuming a ranger too?

I almost feel like Monk Runes would work a bit better. Facets are already generating a lot of boons so I feel like the Altruism boons won’t get as much mileage. Monk gives the same Healing power but with more healing potential rather than boons distribution.
I elected to go with Berserkyrie Trinkets to make help make sure I didn’t go above the 100% crit. In the world of both Warrior banner and Spotter I went over just a bit (.67%). Though that assumes full Ascended trinkets across the board.

45% base
65% with Fury
85% with Roiling Mists Fury
Banner is just over 8%
Spotter is over 7%
Edit: this assumes level 80. In lower levels berserker may be better due to lower precision:crit ratios. Berserker may also be more worthwhile in high level fractals were mobs exceed lvevl 80 since crit chance takes your targets level as a factor when resolving the percentage.
Edit 2: In instances where you’re fighting mobs level 84 the build I linked would have crit chance of 96.65%. With full Berserker against the same level 84 target crit chance would be 100.68 (both %’s assume banner and spotter). Though crit chance is a bit more important against higher level targets due to glancing potential (not that we run into that issue too often).
(edited by savacli.8172)
Savacli, I tried monk but find altruism bit better since you are less tied to Herald but tbh Both are great. Altruism are simply 20x easier to get ???? and you are still limited with 5 target buffed and these help give buffs to more people.
Celestial PvP build
-No effort to get 20+ might
-F2 when going Mallyx and you can get some pretty hefty resistance uptimes
-Strong sustain with evades/prot/heals/leeches
-Group support: AoE boons, 150 ferocity, condi pulls and displacement for anti-stomp
-Boon ripping
-Sword+Axe has some nice bursty direct dmg, CC and evade
-Mace+Shield has condi pressure and sustain
Only weakness is CC spam (lack of stunbreak and stability), but then again, you can just pop Glint heal and be safe.
I had so much fun with the play style as it’s so flexible. Can’t wait for BWE3!
[TLA] Desolation (EU)
I’m so in love with Mallyx, might be because of the amazing animation of Embrace the Darkness: especially on charr is like your toon is going nuts and then proceed to release a burst or evil, darkness energy. SO AMAZING.
Anyway, since rev is the jack of the heavies like engi and ele, i’ll try them all.

You sir are my kind of guy! Charr Mallyx rev here
Here’s what I’ve been running the past beta both in wvw, pvp and pve (didn’t want to bother much changing builds often and this worked well for all three modes):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlIQNAS5nn3geNSuQvJRjoLlsN0jS4HaSJ4EtrkFNFqNALICpbYEnwegJshA-TlCEABQcQAGWzQiq/slSQmU+ZwDAoNdAOcEAA4CAEz+DAA-w
Assassin’s anihilation will give you good sustain and damage even when using mace as a power weapon, as well as the might stacking providing even more damage. Mace 3 hits pretty hard in zerker gear actually. I had a really hard time dying in 1v1s. In fact I think the ONLY person who gave me trouble was a DD ele with diamond skin as banish enchantment would just not work on him. Basically your gear provides more than enough damage, while your legends work amazingly for defense. Glint completely wrecks any power based build, with blinds, weakness, and protection. The moment you have to face against a condi build, just switch to Mallyx. Not only do you have access to the two best heals the class has, but you’ll be doing very high damage at range, a bit lower in melee, but the torment really makes up for it even without condi dmg, while the lifesteal damage slowly withers tanky builds down as it ignores toughness. Use legend swap to trigger Geo/Hydromancy sigils for a good burst every 10 seconds, great to finish off people when jumping at them with mace 3 or axe 4!
Here is the build I used for PvP during BWE2. I would change around a few traits or sigils depending on what I fought, but this is basically it.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.

This is my build mostly PvE and some WvW. Basicly just max DPS
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAscinvN2gS6JvQRVlbosryPUYW5IKYs8ElFNFiNMppNtBYBNwugJshA-TBSBABP8EAoU9HzUCelyvIOBADt/Ae6DA4QAAA-e
Because you get a lot of ferocity, and because you can have fury 100% up time, you really don’t need as much precision as you would normally require on other professions. I tried mixing in valk stats and soldiers with base berserker but it felt like you never gained enough to make a difference. Gaining 5K health gain vs losing 20% crit chance.
Those are my thoughts for a build mainly for small group/solo roaming in WvW. Shield will be swapped with axe whenever the mobility and additional cc/dmg is better than the additional sustain from shield. Alternative for the food is Fried Golden Dumpling for additional boon duration and more might (no icd means even more might from sw3).
Runes are probably going to be either Hoelbrek and Strength for the might duration. With Hoelbrek the food would likely be swapped to lemongrass soup for -60% condition duration overall. Budget option for build are Rage runes.
Violent Tendency [vT]
Ferguson’s Crossing Roamer
For pvp, Carrion Glint/Mallyx herald/retri/corruption mace/axe, and Valkyrie (or marauder) glint/shiro (or jalis) herald/invoc/devast with sword/x/hammer seem like possible meta builds.
I think a soldier’s Jalis/herald staff/hammer build could work, but I’ll have to have more time to test all the possible combinations of a power build before I can say if a brusier build is as viable as a burst or condi build.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various

pve dps:
oh yeah, take ferocious strikes instead. tasty

I see what you did here with the shield and shooting bastion
Since you are here, you really thing shield#5 is good…i really like it conceptually but is was way to dangerous to use..i mean, i’ve ended up using it out of trouble if other heals were on CD.. i guess it defeats half of the purpose

Rolling Mists seems only make sense with Celestial and Crusader/Valkyrie (precision sigils with precison runes) I think.
Shiro/Glint is indeed very powerful and popular. After awhile though I ended up switching Glint out for Jalis which worked better for me.
Good mobility and damage with sword/shiro. If I ever got in trouble I would switch to staff, turn on whirling hammers, and auto attack to regen health. Also, the condi removal for Jalis heal is very nice
Overall, a very fun weekend and looking forward to the next!
Hey guys! Thanks for posting your builds. Looked at every one of them. The thing that struck me was that pretty much everyone always takes Shiro. Second most picked legend is Glint followed up by Mallyx. Jalis and Ventari are apparently very very rare.
Top weapon choices is sword and mace for MH. Sometimes hammer and rarely staff.
Most people here focused on offense/damage, some purely, others mixed stats a bit. I noticed there are very few support builds and I think mine was the only 24/7 support oriented one (and only glint + ventari combo).
Keep them coming. Gives a lot of insight about how players want to play, what interesting trait/legend combo choices they make. Always might find something interesting!
Also thanks for visiting Roy
Most of the damage in this build comes from Roiling Mists and 100% fury uptime. I prefer builds that can take a little bit more of a beating, hence Retribution rather than devastation. I still get some decent ferocity from rage runes though.
I’m not really too fond of Shiro. The dodge is nice but the heal, phase traversal and elite are wasted on me since I prefer to spend most of my time at max range with more solid and reliable healing options.
Jalis heal helps with conditions along with vengeful hammers and RotGD is occasionally used for a stunbreak and support. Road and chain are a bit useless but here’s hoping they get some improvements.
I would only really use sword/shield if I’m forced in to close combat, I need the shield or my opponent is particularly susceptible to an UA.
Personally upon release I will go Zerk Rev. Why? Because I actually never played (in PVE) Zerker XD Mostly conditions or mixed builds with engineer.
Sooo it will be Shiro/Jalis probably
Because why not ?:D Got defens eon demand from Jalis elite. Have access to weakness from Inspiring Reinforcements as well as Vengeful Hammer trait that flies around me giving enemies weakness. Dmg reduction vs ranged as well as below certain % hp, protection on being CCed.
Also have Block from sword 4, Evade from Sword 3, Evade from Hammer 3, 2 dodges, evade from Riposting Shadows +1 dodge from it(50 end) as well as Vengeful Hammers upkeep for -20% dmg and heal (in pve events and so on it’s actually nice).
Last BWE I tried it and I haven’t been downed by enemies once.
This +Ventari build I posted earlier as my fun backup build to support bigger events.
Runes of Rage for more Fury, Better uptime and +5% dmg while under effects of fury.
Thought also about Sigil of Frailty for even quicker Vulnerability ramp up and more stacks for more dmg and always having +7% dmg active.
Major weakness? Conditions XD but others can support me in that regard since this is not single player game
Another build.
More defense focused with different Gear mixes. Food and runes provide -65% condition duration.
Lots of damage, many buffs, easy access to protection & fury. More HP and Toughness while still haveing extremely high power.
More of a soldier variant (which seems as actually a decent choice given how much of vit/thg we can take in place of precision).
This has a bit mixed ascended/exotic stuff mostly due to me checking what sort of stats I can get with gear I have xD
Still keeping food/runes -65% condi dur.

I haven’t tested the Revenant, so many of those may be totally invalid, but I’ve got a lot of ideas. All of them are sPvP builds.
1. Power Shiro/Glint. Since you have quite a lot of evades, free toughness and damage mitigation you may even use Berserker amulet with that one. Mobility, group support, great damage through incredible Might generation, quite a bit of CC.
2. Celestial CC cheese build. Funny build. AoE daze with Mallyx Elite, swap to Shiro and Jade Wind, Staff 5, swap to Mallyx and Elite again etc. All while having alright tankiness, support and condi damage.
3. Bruiser. Reve has access to a lot of free crit and ferocity making Soldier builds very attractive. This version sacrifices a bit of extra damage for boon removal.
4. Condi Carrion Revenant. This build actually has some crit thanks to Rolling Thunder and Glint, so it can steal deal some direct damage. Good damage, support, boon removal.
I always go a strange way when I build my characters compared to many, as I like the beefy soldier play style the most. Luckily enough with the Revenant I feel like it works out very well compared to others.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAS8sn3gWNSuQrJRboBlsP0fS4I6QJ4EdrkFNFitMppNtBYBNwugJshA-ThCBABVcQA2T3g5XAgo3foLlDepkAgnAQWKxsU9HGVCGAABYn7MdWnBH9oH9oH9oddduzje0jWKAB1ZB-e
I run a Jalis/Glint build. With condition cleanse on legend swap and Jalis’ heal, switching to Jalis in the middle of a wvw roam is nice. I like Mallyx design wise, but I’ve never really liked the condition feel, so this is what I’ve got. With almost constant fury and a high-ish crit-damage while in combat, it works out well for me. Throwing on the swirling hammers when leaping with the hammer equiped is a good way to get a small amount of healing from it when you land, especially in a zerg, and the stability granted is a great way for helping/preventing stomps. The taunt is been more fun then I expected it to be, but it’s high cost keeps it from being too bad.
Also, Taunting players off of keeps is just a little extra added fun!
Also, Taunting players off of keeps is just a little extra added fun!
This is actually great I can already see Taunting in Skyhammer map to have someone fall to their deaths XD
My current plan for PvE: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAS8unXN2gSqJvQR/kbosgyPU4Q5IKYr8ElFNFidMppNtBYBNwegJshA-TxRBABU8EAuS5HN7PgnuBAuIAUq+jZKBBA-e
Nothing fancy, really. Glint/Jalis, invocation/devastation/herald, berserker gear. Primarily an offensive setup, but using Jalis for extra defensive options when forced to swap out of Glint.
I’ve been looking at something like this myself: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQRAsX5sn3geNSuQvJRboJlsP0jS4I6SJ4EtrklTlhNpnmKNgDWwe93nH-TJxHwAr2fwYZAxPBAAnEAA
Carrion hybrid build with Mallyx/Glint. This is all pretty hypothetical since I still haven’t preordered to be able to playtest it, but the idea is for something that deals strong condition damage while still having respectable physical damage as well. I swapped the offhands so that I’d have both a defensive skill and some sort of condition access with each set, and the high boon uptime should help boost damage a bit. Fury alone will increase damage by 14% with combined modifiers along with the 40% crit chance increase, and with this build I should be able to have near permanent uptime on it without having to resort to Glint upkeep while in combat.
The generosity sigils are kind of just placeholder at this time; I figure that the condition transfer might help with some extra damage and cleanse for when I’m not in Mallyx but I might not end up really needing it, in which case I’d probably swap them out for strength or something. Another change that I’m considering would be shield over offhand sword, however that would depend on how effective the 5 skill ends up being, and if the healing/protection would be worth sacrificing extra damage and CC.

I went straight power because I have been playing condi builds on other classes and I think it’s a bit of an uphill battle for Revenant without a ranged condition weapon. I think if I were going to do a hybrid build, I’d want to go for Sinister (which I know isn’t available in PvP) or something similar and use hammer with crit-based sigils as one of the weapons. but then, I just love the gosh-darned hammer so much.
I have always played very tanky, but never had a great deal of fun. So I’m going to try to mix in a lot more DPS for this character. Build I started working towards is below:

Druid is probably a supporter role. Come on, “druid”, staff, what else do you need? Probably supporters will be very important, at least in pve.
this was my approach. But with the condtion cleaning… i am considering mallyx instead of shiro.
Here’s a first try on a mallyx build:
I think your mallyx build is awesome.
80 Sylvari Thief | 80 Human Elementalist | 80 Asura Guardian | 80 Asura Engineer |
80 Sylvari Revenant
I’m sort of on the fence about what build to use. On one hand, I like the Valkyrie builds that some ppl have put up (with some variations of my own), but the other hand I feel like Celestial might help me get the most (if not, enough to be useful) out of each legend without having to switch gear every time.
the second version of my rolling valky build my fav to far, involves using a combination of zerg armor alongside valky and cavalier trinkets to reach 82% crit (with fury) 203% ferocity, a niche 3k armor and 20.7k hp
power is a little below the average being at the 2200 ap, but makes up for it thanks to the ferocity and high crit but mostly because with superior rune of the eagle it has enough dmg modifiers to hit an permanent 14% more dmg always, 40% agaisnt targets below 50% hp and on top of that additional 2% for each boom on you
There are some builds here which I have thought about myself
Now for a little support twist!

Project Tranquility max of ~835 but more likely around 600 on normal every 3 secKeep in mind you cannot have all of these up because of how these % work but you can do huge burst heals for very little costs and then have a bit weaker burst heals but still tremendous.
Consider this yoinked =P
I was actually most excited for Mallyx but I turned out to be quite terrible at using him during the beta. Maybe practice is all that’s needed though.
I don’t PvP so I don’t know about the viability, but it burns down Maudrim pretty fast so it might be good.
Staff, Sword/Sword running Glint exclusively, running Facet of Light and Strength constantly and then cycling through the other facets for active powers as needed.
Retribution/Devastation/Herald with a combination of Assassin, Berserker, Valkyrie and Knight gear and Eagle runes. It runs at 10 might base. During beta I used Strength because they were available, and it was absurdly easy to have 25 might constantly, but Strength is expensive so I’m relying on Strength sigil for that instead.

At the moment I’m going to make my Rev quite tanky due to making my ascended gears mainly soldiers related and wanting to get rid of some of my current ascended trinckets leftovers.
Also I definitely going to have Herald elite spec and I definitely going to used a hammer (you always got to have a range weapon in PVE) althought does that means I automatically have to used Jalis legend? With Herald, Retribution (since it ties in with Jalis) the last trait will be Invocation.

You don’t have to use Jalis with the hammer. In fact, they have pretty minimal synergy. Any weapon can be used with any legend quite effectively.
I’m currently crafting my first ascended gear set for Rev (I loved Herald/Shiro gameplay in the beta) and I have no idea which stat-combo I should go for. Playing WvW mostly, zerg and roaming.
Berserker gear… arrowcarts will probably bring me down quite fast
Knight’s gear… I heard the Rev is vulnerable to condis, so toughness would be second choice, better vitality
Valkyrie gear… Rev already has perma ferocity uptime, do I need more from stats?
Soldier’s gear… too tanky and too little damage?
Celestial gear… too little power to be effective? Are berserker trinkets a good choice additionally?
I’m torn, as you see. Crafting ascended gear is probably a one-time thing for me since it’s hard to come by enough gold via playing WvW mostly.
any advise?
Personally, I would craft berserker. Trinkets actually have a stronger impact on your stats and are easier to get, so if you find you need to swap in something, you can do it there.
I disagree. I would not run zerk for wvw unless you do solely roaming and dueling. not certain if we can do ascended cavalier yet though, but if you can do that. Fill in your crit rate with fury or runes or trinkets. you want that extra toughness in wvw otherwise you’re just a rallybot
I’m thinking about running with this in general PvE since it’s the main thing I do:
Herald Front Liner Sustained Damage and Support
What do you guys think?
