Thanks, that will tell me what traits to assign. But what skill combos and utilities do I use and when do I use them? It also doesn’t say what legends to use either or what my other weapon set should be. Sorry for being so clueless, I just don’t know how to play this class because it’s so different from anything else I’ve played in mmos. I’m not even sure what role rev plays in groups or even solo play.

You can use gw2skills.net to read it all over and design things. That’s all it takes, really. Read what the skills all do, stack things upon each other, and then test it out. If you are surviving fine, swap to a little more DPS. If you are dying a lot, move to more survivability.
For example, here is the condi DPS build I have been running so far that, for the most part, works well. I blame my extended quantity of deaths on not really knowing the mobs yet. Did Tequatl earlier with no issues. I will test in Orr and Silverwastes later this weekend to be sure it is just me being a noob.
I primarily sit in Glint Legend and always have my heal, speed, and might stack going. When I enter combat, I use the speed one on some mobs and just wail with mace/axe and leave the actives to heal and might, sometimes with the f2 for added duration. I find I need the might and regen over the malyx legend pretty much exclusively though, but that’s because Sinister set is glass cannon. I never have energy problems but if it gets low, swap over, use the tele-displacement a couple times, and swap back. The toughness from having lots of actives actually helps a lot, since I tend to have four or five points of degen all the time. The elite is really only good for a double-tap to knock back as an interrupt. Fury is only good if you have a power/precision build (zerker) and trait that enhanced crit so you have 100%. I wanted to make a demon vampire on purpose so I am sticking to condi.
Once I have the average mob to about 50%, they are taking over 1k from ticks of poison, burning, and torment each with minor amounts from others that show up from fields of other players.

I think you are a bit lost. Sincerely, you should use this beta test to find out a build that suits your needs. The build linked works fine in the following way:
Primary weapon is Sword/Axe.
Rotation focus on Axe 4 as opener and damage bump, Auto-attack chain provides most of the DPS while Unrelenting Assault can be used to single-target burst or 2s of evade. Axe 5 is used to remove defiance/interrupt enemies and line them up, while sword 2 can be used from time to time for the small AoE damage it has.
Secondary weapon depends on your needs: I use Hammer for ranged fights and when I need space, but Staff is a fine weapon too if you are going full melee.
Now, how you play your utilities/legends is up to you. Facet of Nature is a great asset to your Glint boons and party boons, but you should focus more on how each utility plays out for you. Maybe during a fight you want the Fury+Might boost, maybe you want to cast Infuse Light to take a lot of damage with no risk. The usage of utilities will depend on your needs, and as you play revenant you’ll understad em as they pop up. I particuarly roll with Glint/Shiro, but you could run something like Glint/Jallis for extra tankiness, or Glint/Ventari for projectile defense and support. Up to you!
So far I’ve been doing some DPS tests and crunching some numbers, and for PvE I would strongly suggest that you completely forget about condi damage (as much as it breaks my heart). In all of my tests across all build my condi DPS was always half of my power builds’ DPS, at best. Single target i was pulling around 4k dps with s/a (zerker) and with m/a i was only pulling about 1.5k dps (carrion, no sinister stats to test with). Against grouped enemies, i was getting around 6k dps with s/a and only 3k dps with m/a.
I was using Shiro/Glint for power and I tried a few combinations for condi but found that Shiro/Glint is still a great choice for condi (for nefarious momentum).
Also on a side note i was pulling roughly 7k DPS with hammer against multiple foes. So… that was weird. Haven’t done any tank-ish builds yet (with upcoming raids) but I’m sure I could get some good stuff with ventari/glint or jalis/glint with staff + sword/shield
I’m using this one and looks pretty solid: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAsein3guNSuQ7JRboVlsP0rS4IaWJ4EdskFNFidMppNtBYBRwugJshA-TBCBABGt/gFHCgKV/5MlgAcCAyS5Xe6DC4JAEA4A43+23fDc+5nf+5n3v/+7v/+bpAiYMA-e
Any offhand except shield is useless if mh is sword. Any 4-5 skill will just lower your dpos, so the only useful option here is the extra survivability (and might, if traited) from shield
