Hey people so I am getting more and more hyper for the Revenant I actually think I may explode before it comes out just from sheer joy and I wanted to pick some of your imagination and see what you lot are up to (:

So what kind of Revenant are you?

Do you have a back story if so what is it?
What race are you going with?

Personally I’m making it out my Mesmer died when the pale tree was under attack and she returned the favour by ressurecting me as a sylvari Revenant sounds a little silly but I like the back story hehe
And yes that means I’m going for Sylvari and most likely Duel swords + staff
My favourite legend so far is Ventari but I need to try shiro!
I’m going to make my Revenant look kind of sinister and that he is struggling with Mortys mind control most likely use some race armour and DAT BLINDFOLF GOD JUST LOOK AT ITS BEAUTY
and Revenant will be my new main making my Mesmer live in pvp as my alt

But in the time I played, I loved playing my thief (and even today I do) but since the announcement of HoT and the revenant as new profession, I’ve fallen in love with it. And no matter how weak he will be (and I’m pretty sure he won’t be weak at all) he’s gonna be my new main.

Never really got into backstories ala role playing much, but here it goes: He started off as a Guardian, as one of the only Charrs to actually have religion, switched to Warrior because of his love for bladed weaponry and wanted so much to dual wield a sword alongside his legendary GS, and now will evolve into the Revenant, missing the magical abilities of Guardian, but willing to do whatever it takes to vanquish his enemies.
2. Charr (for life!)
3. Dual Sword
4. Favorite Legend is a bit early since the Elite isn’t out yet, but out of the four, I kind of like the looks and idea of Mallyx. Functionally? Shiro.

Asura Revenant! That’s awesome and I like the revenge and anger over poor tybalt I wish we could invoke him ;D maybe glint would allow us to invoke the fallen 3 but probably not :p hehe

Aww yeah I understand I’ve had 1 or 2 long breaks from the game and I’m kinda social logging on every once and a while now waiting for that Revenant! On the dual swords, I’ve got a serious blade fetish, so it comes naturally with the Rev for me. I only wish we could have had GS and daggers added in the mix too.

I hear ya I wish we could have a NA server and a EU server so I can play with my NA & my EU friends and me too I love swords every game I have to be some kind of spell blade or someone who can’t enchant there swords or get possessed while wielding swords I had the Mesmer for that boy now Revenant feels to me like it fills the role much better

A Charr Warrior who is conscripted to fight against Mordremoth as part of Smodur The Unflinching’s pledge to help with the campaign. During the pact fleet crash, the majority of her warband die, and the rest of them are killed by Mordrem on the ground. After this, she seeks ways to become stronger to seek revenge against Mordremoth and the corrupted Sylvari (and probably all other sylvari.), and in turn becomes a Revenant as a way to do that.

What race are you going with?
Female Charr.

What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Mainhand sword looks very nice, partly because its the only Revenant weapon capable of killing things effectively. and the offhand axe. I like the bit of CC and mobility it has. and I don’t want to run sword/sword because I already have a character who runs dual swords, and I like to keep all my characters unique.

What is your favourite legend?
Shiro so far, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I prefer Glint when she arrives.

How are you going to make your Revenant look?
I like to make each of my character’s armour a different colour, and so far, the only colours I don’t have are White, Pink and Brown, so ill probably make her a mix of White and subtle Pinks. Im also yet to embrace the Albino Charr fad, so I might give her white fur and pink eyes.

Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
We’ll see. I haven’t judged Revenant yet based on the betas. Im reserving that for when we can play them at full strength, with all 5 core specs, and their 5 legends.

vert interesting i love the back story and do it embrace the albino char ;D and i like Sword/Axe too dragging people in with that off hand axe rift ripping attack then jumping around slicing the enemies sounds like a fun little combo

i really enjoyed reading this and it sounds like a cool little asura you got in mind there i love the whole born unable to use magic but ends up being able to channel from the mists

With as less bulk as i can, not a fan of heavy armor. my current main is a warrior though so i got use to it.

Main all the way, rev is everything i’v felt missing while playing the other classes

I’m not much of a role player, and I don’t really intend to follow the lore background of Revenant 100%. I’ve always found the idea of scholar classes rather fascinating, so the simple version of the “feel” for my character is that my Necromancer died and began learning the fighting techniques of legends and returns as a Revenant. Kind of that beyond the mists, scholar but still a warrior vibe. I dunno, it’s what suits me.

His name will be Sikari Mist, my necro main (High Warlord Sikari) never really had a surname, nor has Sikari ever since I played MMOs, but I feel like now would be a fitting time and a fitting way to give him one.

He’ll be rocking Sword/Sword + Hammer, and likely Shiro/Mallyx. Mallyx is currently a bit of a wildcard, as much of it’s use depends on Glint.

Originally a Canthan Ritualist serving the Emperor at the time of Shiro’s betrayal but killed by the assassin they were trapped between the mists and our world until recently having been drawn out by the gathering of power and magic in Tyria. Now the tables having turned the former ritualist now revenant now invoking and controlling Shiro’s power amongst many others.

What race are you going with:
Human Female (Canthan)

What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Defintely Sword/Sword and Staff (Not to mention I have bolt and Bifrost to go along with it)

What is your favourite legend:

Tossing up between the smokey white(for a more ghostly appearance) or jet black hair(more in line with Canthans). Blind eyes (Celestial), combination of Orrian and Primeval skins, greys, dark blues and blacks.

Ele is my current main, I was at one point seriously considering replacing it with my Rev. In the end I may end up sharing that spot between the two of them depending on how Tempest turns out.

Loving the connection with the lore you made that is awesome! And I have Bifrost and bolt too! Although I am hoping we get a legendary pole arm looking staff and loving the idea of the medieval colour schemes! And I can understand maybe sharing 2 it’s like I’m not sure if I can just make my Mesmer an alt after all this time so I will probably share (:

Backstory: after his Promotion to head bodyguard of my army of characters ( 27 currently hey i get bored easy lol ps dont like messing withnmy builds to much) Tacorro decided to broaden his combat horizons and leaped into the mists. Upon his arrival his body was bombarded with mist energy which sent him into a trance unlocking knowledge that only the mists held. When he finally returned sporting his shiny new blinfold and flashy new skills he got reprimanded by Mask for abandoning his post as head bodyguard and sent to the magumma to slay mordremoth and his minions in penance. Yeah i know kinda harsh but my head character is kinda strict

Do you have a back story if so what is it?

After bringing down Zyatan, My Guardian lead a group to go recover the body, some kitten happened, which lead to my Guard breaking Sunrise, and getting pulled into the mist.

Unable to get out, he wondered around until he ran into Rytlock (Who had already become The Revenant), and they work together to get out. Afterwords, my Guard decided he needed more/new power to fight the dragons, something they couldn’t corrupt. The Mist was the answer.

Sword Shield/Hammer
Maybe Staff, can’t really make a judgement call till I have my hands on it

The supposed Glint, Jalis, and Shrio

Having castes off the idea of defending, and looking to make sure the next dragon he puts down doesn’t get a chance to move, much less retaliate, I’m going for something full-body, aggressive, and spikey.

That all depends on how the numbers play out and if I can figure out how to play the class well enough…

With Etheus, I want something mystical and refined, but imposing in its own way.

Backstory:
With their defeat at Twilight Arbor, the Nightmare Court had to rebuild itself, doubling up its efforts on capturing young Sylvari. Among the victims were two lovers – the thief, Etheus, and the mesmer, Nadora. The woman did not survive the indoctrination. Unfortunately for the court, the enraged thief slipped his chains and cut a bloody swathe through the Court, even inflicting a painful injury on Faolain before escaping.

Etheus returned to the Pale tree and begged her to restore Nadora in the dream. She declined. Unsatisfied with her answer, the disillusioned rogue stepped through the nearest Mist Portal, intending to die alone in the Eternal Battleground. Instead, he killed every foe who came his way.

By some stroke of luck, he found a tear in the Mists near the edge of the Eternal Battlegrounds. Curious and still seeking death, he stepped through, entering into an unexplored dimension. He found many other such tears in the universe, and soon came to the realization that all reality is connected through the Mists – even the Dream.

His time in the Mists gave him new power and new insight. Enduring horror after horror and slaying indescribable monstrosities, he eventually made his way to the Dream. In there, he read the memories trapped in the Pale Tree’s roots to locate the pieces of Nadora, one by one. Severing them from the tree allowed him to combine them once more, and place them in a seed pod. The Sylvari trapped inside would die and be replaced by her, he suspected, but that was, to him, an acceptable price to pay.

He heard a dragon’s roar and knew that he had damaged the Dream. Perhaps irreparably. He had been rough in his cutting of its roots. Chances were that other memories were also trapped in his love’s reforming mind. The Shadow growing in the Dream was entirely his doing.

And though he considered that too to be an acceptable price, he channeled his legends and approached the Shadow of the Dragon. One more horror to cut down.

And with that conclusion is born my second, alternate Revenant.

Backstory
Nadora awoke in a new body, barely able to remember her past. Or, perhaps it was that she remembered more than her past, yet less. Whatever she was, she wasn’t quite what she suspected she had been, and that scared her. Her mind was screaming. Another mind trapped in her body was screaming. She. Was. Screaming.

1. Do you have a back story if so what is it?
After years spent trying to commune with the Mists, Rytlock Brimstone came and told everyone how to do it.
It’s common knowlegde now, so my life research is useless and I’m pretty mad about it.
kitten Rytlock. I’ll kill him and I’ll take his sword.

2. What race are you going with?
Human male. Already got the others.

3. What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Dual swords or sword+shield, depending on the skills (I like both).
Probably hammer on the second set, I like the look and swapping ranged may be useful in some situations.

4. What is your favourite legend?
For lore and role, probably Jalis and Glint.
For how they work, well, they all make me angry except Shiro. Can’t talk about Glint yet.

5. How are you going to make your Revenant look?
Not telling :P

6. Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
My main has to be able to handle dungeons/wvw, so I hope it’s strong enough, otherwise alt.

Sword/Sword (maybe with axe offhand) and Staff

Shiro all day everyday, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Glint.

Not sure yet, but there’s a pretty good chance it’ll be my main unless Necros get some awesome changes, plus Sword and Shiro look amazing.

Nah but I like to think he has some serious personality disorders being both a Sylvari and a Revenant.

How are you going to make your Revenant look?

I’m not gonna use the same dyes, they just happen to be what my Mesmer has right now.

• The base Color scheme for Revenant is Red/Black/White, i will go with Pinky Purple instead of Red to perfectly match the Color of the Nightmare Weapons and my Mawdrey.

Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?

• I start out with her and will see from there on. The plan is to main here and get my first World Completion (highest in the years since Early Access is somewhere around 60%).

Right now, I’m thinking Human but I don’t even have a single Charr so I might make one of them as well and see which I enjoy more. I have a good feeling that with the addition to weapon swap and how much fun Shiro looks, that I’ll be maining a Revenant. I mostly see myself with Jalis/Shiro and Hammer-Sword/Sword. I have to test a few other weapon combos but I really like sword main-hand from what I saw during the POI.

I’m debating male human, female human, female sylvari, female norn. The humans already have looks designed, the others have face concepts that I think I forgot to document the sliders for. Actually, the female human is one I made in a hurry for the recent beta and I didn’t save her sliders either, or even a closeup of the face … oops.

However, the only RP concept I have so far beyond nebulous subconscious meanderings is the sylvari. She’ll use the channeled spirits as a buffer to help resist Mordremoth’s whispers so she can push into the jungle to face him, and she takes to Revenanting purely for that reason. She won’t give a darn which legends are nattering at her so long as they let her remain a free agent.

Loving the connection with the lore you made that is awesome! And I have Bifrost and bolt too! Although I am hoping we get a legendary pole arm looking staff and loving the idea of the medieval colour schemes! And I can understand maybe sharing 2 it’s like I’m not sure if I can just make my Mesmer an alt after all this time so I will probably share (:

Thanks, I’m a bit of a lore fan when it comes to franchises that have alot of it, I am infact looking at ritualist concept art to see how to further shape my revenant. Yeah, I still love my ele haha. I feel somewhat torn as I’ll have bifrost but that datamined staff looks good, and who knows how the new legendary weapons will look like, I suppose we at least have something cool to start off with :P

Backstory (Cliffnotes ver.): Born unable to use magic like other Asura, she ended up working as an engineer in Thaumanova doing menial work. When the reactor went off, she awoke miles away from the explosion not only with a different appearance (eyes from purple to red, hair from dark brown to platinum blonde, and skin markings completely disappeared) but has also gained the ability to channel power from the mists themselves.

i really enjoyed reading this and it sounds like a cool little asura you got in mind there i love the whole born unable to use magic but ends up being able to channel from the mists

Do you have a back story if so what is it?
Hoo boy, I could go into insane detail here, but I’ll sum it up, he was a Guardian in blood-legion, in particular he was very good at fighting the ascalonian ghosts, one day he managed to uncover some tomes referring to ancient magics from a far away land (Ritualists) he was intrigued by the magic and began to practice it in secret, resulting in him becoming a revenant. His ultimate goal, aside from killing the dragons, is to break the curse of the foefire.

Not sure exactly how to solve the “Rytlock being the first revenant” plot-hole, but maybe it won’t be a plot-hole, I’ll have to see what the story has to say about it

I’m likely going to use the default “Revenant” armor but colour the red dark blue, as well as change the shoulder-piece and use the “veil-piercer” blindfold

Unlike other humans students I always was fond of necromancy… I thought I could find the secret of eternity…. but all I found was horror and death…. years and years I’ve spent on performing my necromancy skills…. but what I was searching was further and further away….. in the end, I lost hope I was disgusted to myself for all my horrible experiments…..
Then I decided to bring to life my most ambitious and riskiest experiment, I was working dozen of years…. but something when wrong and I was lost in the Mists of Enernity…. I don’t know how much I was absent from Tyria.
I think time in the mist is non existent…. Everyone would lose their sanity……. but one day I started to hear a voice I thought I lost my mind completely…. but I was following that voice, the voice guided me through the mists…. Then I woke up in my old laboratory every thing was dusty and old very old who knows how much time I was gone…. The last thing I remember " My name is Rytlock follow my voice "
My horrible past died hundreads of year ago with all my intrest in necromacy my purpose now is to find the owner of the voice that leaded me and to learn about the new powers I returned with ….

My Revenant is a Human male. He is a future possibility of my Thief stored within the Mists. Having spent many years fighting in the Mist Wars and searching for Fractal Weapons, he eventually gets lost within the Mists and learns to master manipulating Mist energies as well as communing with Legends of the Mists. Once he finds his Fractal Weapons, he manages to return back to Tyria only to find out that he himself isn’t real and only a manifestation of what could have happened had my Thief been lost in the Mists. Regardless, he decides to stay and fight the Elder Dragons after hearing about the destruction of the Pact.

Favored Weapons: Dual Swords/Staff

Legend: Channels Shiro Tagachi mainly as they have a mutual respect for each other’s sword skills but also a similar bloodlust and rage in battle.

My Revenant will most likely be my new main as I have always wanted a proper dual sword wielding class but Warrior swords weren’t that great and Mesmer is more about illusion rather than raw sword combat. Look below for a screenshot of what my Revenant will look like.
