After play the Revenant a good bit during the Beta Test Weekend and trying the Shiro Legend and the Weapon swap, I’ve gotten back into the idea of what my Revenant should be when HoT comes out. After playing around with all the races, I’ve come at a cross roads of who to pick: Human, Asura, Sylvari. My thoughts on each one (looking more into Lore and some race benefits):
- Human: This was my first choice. Originally, I was going to create a Revenant who was the great decedent of my two main in Guild Wars: My Dervish and Assassin. Since both characters fought/meet all of the Legends of the Revenant, I thought it would work best as the next member of my original character’s family line (more going towards the Canthan decent).
- Sylvari: Since Heart of Thorns focuses on the Sylvari and Mordremoth, It could be interesting to see a Sylvari channeling legends of the past to help fight their creator. Also, something I notice in the Beta story, Sylvari hear Mordremoth when the Mordrem Court call for his aid. This made me wonder what I would miss if I didn’t play as them from Mordremoth himself (tried the scene between a few characters only hear the voice aka Mordremoth only when playing as a Sylvari).
- Asura: Out of all the races, Asura are my favorite due to their lore and a few other things. Revenant Asura feel like they are always moving around to me when in combat. With everyone ppl say about Asura, It was fun to roam around as one. As for lore, they feel less connected to me as a Revenant but still have enough to be one due to how they manipulate the mist. Compared to the other two, being an Asura Revenant is more combat then lore to me. (If you have a good reason why Revenant Asura fits their lore better, I’d enjoy reading it).
I like to plan things ahead when I can and that is why I made this post. I’ve always had a problem deciding on things so I’d like to hear your guys thoughts. I want to focus on one character at this time so that why I don’t make all three. Also the reason I didn’t like Charr or Norn is because:
- Charr: I have a Guardian so I’m good on a heavy armored class and I’m in the thought of any Charr Revenant I make will have me say “O its Rytlock”.
- Norn: I’m just not a fan of their lore and how they feel when roaming around. They feel too slow to me.
This will give me time to get the name, look, and a few other things done for my character before Heart of Thorns comes out. Thanks guys, hope you all are enjoying the Beta Weekend!
