Inspired by the thread ‘8 missing skills’ (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/8-Missing-Skills/), I figured I’d start this thread for people to suggest what utility skills they’d like to see the Revenant have.

Currently we are forced to using certain utilities tied to specific legends, and while that’s all very nice and unique, because of this, it can actually be extremely limiting in terms of build diversity and all-round enjoyment of the Revenant.

Here are a few reasons why I think Revenants need utilities that we can choose from:

1) They have no real ‘permanent’ swiftness skill or trait – not even a 25% movement speed signet, for example. This means players have to sacrifice what runes they truly want on their revenant, for runes like traveller, or speed. I’ve been saying this for a long time, but I think all professions should have access to a 25% passive movement signet utility skill. You don’t have to use it, but at least make it an option for classes that don’t have movement as a basic luxury that everyone should have access to.

2) What happens when, let’s say one of the Revenant’s utility skills are bugged (and it will most likely happen sooner or later), and it can’t be fixed for a while? This limits their already very limited utility skills we have available to us.

3) What if the utilities you have no choice in choosing from, aren’t even ones you want to use? I can’t be the only one that doesn’t use all 3 utility skills on the Revenant?

There are probably more reasons, but I just feel that, in order to polish the Revenant to perfection, and bring it up to the standards of all the other classes, they NEED a bit more variety in the utility department. The fact that we can’t choose our utilities makes the class feel very limited and, to me, extremely frustrating at times. There is a good reason why I main staff elementalist, and it’s because there’s SO much skill, trait, and utility variety to choose from. Revenant currently only has skill and trait variety.

Anyway those are just my thoughts on what the Revenant needs to feel complete. Feel free to pitch in your thoughts, or suggest any utility skills you’d like to see etc.

I hope for some launch skills and some ones that induce fear.

Those are really the only reason i play warrior as a main(yes i love skyhammer XD) but they seem to be really fun skills, and that’s what matters is fun.

I mean with a name like Revenant, there should be atleast one fear skill. While launches are not only fun, but good for interrupts and saving allies in time of need.

Revenant is more about taunt than fear. Thats necro thing. Also if someone is stupid enough to throw fear at you during embrance the darkness, then enjoy 3+sec fear on them. I feared some poor hotjoin necro for 6 seconds this way hahah

“A revenant is a visible ghost or animated corpse that was believed to return from the grave to terrorize the living.” (Its Latin meaning means to come back or return, which is were it fits in with Rytlock.)

but fear skill would totally make sense for it, i mean yes it fits necro more, but warrior has a fear skill and Rev fits fear better then warrior. and i goood idea for the return fear, thats awesome

but lets not derail the thread, lets get some more ideas rolling

Swiftness is confirmed coming

I would personally like the legends to keep their current abilities, but tweak them to be more specific so that channeling a legend locks you into a certain playstyle.

So shiro can shadow step without a target for scouting and single target assasination,
Jalis provides a vitality boost, self protection trait and stuns, the swirling hammer knock down instead of toggleable,
Mallyx is a condi spellcaster, providing combo fields (poison, fire, dark?),
Ventari is a mixed single+aoe healer with instant tablet pet
Glint is a mesmer/guardian type support that turns a fight.

Make Revenant into a Jack of all trades, but slightly weaker than its counterparts

I would be beyond happy just to have access to racials.

icing on the cake would be 2-3 aleternate utility choices per spec.

having a real utility system like other classes enjoy is an impossible pipe dream.

I don’t think it’s an impossible dream , just has to be carefully incorporated

all we can do is hope the devs listen

However I’d really like signets on Glint. Swap to get 5 signet effects at once.

Or I wouldn’t mind if Glint skills were just those custom slots you’re talking about. So not glint as a legend in legendswap, but as a lingering one with an active f2 skill and 5 signets that can be used to replace legend skills in your build.

Just brainstorming however. I’m sure their idea will be better

I would like if Ventari had a skill or two that would effect enemies. Such as an AoE pull toward the tablet. Like the tablet was trying to convert its enemies to be good or something, just incase people wanted it to fit some lore reasoning or something.

I’m glad you said this, because this is EXACTLY what they need to do.

The problem is that that is impossible. That’s a good thing! This would be a really boring game if they could give each Legend 3 perfect skills that never needed to change. Luckily the game is not that boring and for the past 3 years the other 8 professions each choose their utilities for their specific situation and preference.

Heck it’s right there in the name: “utility”. Revenants need to have utility.

I would like if Ventari had a skill or two that would effect enemies. Such as an AoE pull toward the tablet. Like the tablet was trying to convert its enemies to be good or something, just incase people wanted it to fit some lore reasoning or something.

I’ve always wanted something like the skill that the Grawl Shaman champ from the statuary in Edge of the Mists uses. It’s like this quicksand skill with a huge AoE, which pulls enemies in and knocks them down with each second it pulses.

Something like that – it could be some sort of quicksand-rift utility skill? Slicing into the mists (or stomping?), creating tears and instability which ultimately pulls enemies in, and knocks them down at the same time. Would be a nice AoE interrupt utility skill.

I want a Dwarf Minion that summons and attacks enemies.

I want a support skill that heals over time separate from regen.

I want Damaging Ranged attack.

Ventari:
AoE roots / Slow field
tablet charge with stun / daze (target locked of course)

Jalis:
Stone Wall that blocks / reflects projectiles
Stomp that creates weakness and gives protection

Shiro:
Spin2Win – shake off some conditions – doing damage – whirl finisher
doppelganger – create 2 clones around the enemy (triangle pattern)- change position with one of them – they act exactly like you – dont do damage – they all got destroyed as soon as one of them is hit or after 3 seconds

Mallyx:
demonic overload – you explode and spread your conditions to nearby foes
giving resistance to allies
demonic charge – charge to your target – cousing cripple and torment on hit
