Could someone explain me to it why we are double punishment? Wasnt the balance was supposed to be around increasing/decreasing energy cost needed to perform x ability? Wasnt utility skills supposed to have no cd while weapon skills were supposed to have low cd’s due to energy system? Is 25cd on shield with 3 sec selfroot block a low cd? Sure we heal..guess what? Warrior can trait for 20sec block while also reflecting projectiles and being mobile.
Our olny one mobility skills getting huge nerf, compensation? 0, nadanada. Who care about mobility, sole reason to pick up Shiro right? So smart lock us into one stance and then take our olny one way of mobility. Who care about general bugs, who fail if the teleport fail often to actually..teleport. If it was energy increase to 25/30 but no..lets slap cd on it. Slap 10cd on riposting shadows, its too op, quickness on demand is also too op and needs at least 5cd.
Oh then we have Glint heal, add 1 casttime and make enemy screen completely blue so they know we activated it. Just dont overdo the effects, newcomes may think their graphic card broke. And then theres UA..well whats about? Nothing, raise energy cost and cd to 20, make it stop teleport when someone move out of 450 range cus why not. Its OP.
But lets get on the topic, could someone (looking at you know who) answer me point behind energy? One nice pic to added cd to phase traversal. Way to go, way to go.
Since the beginning, Revenants were supposed to have a mix between Energy and cooldowns, they’re not copies of thieves, they have low cooldowns and Energy costs in the unique snowflake way they are.
Give us back our second of infuse light!

Can you link source? As far i know utility skills wasnt supposed to have any cd.
And i wish to know how they plan to fix now larger cooldown on phase traversal due to chill/power lock stuff?
As in screenshot, one mes can shut down my mobility for 15seconds.
Wait for it bro more nerf will come since too many pve players farming pvp and asking nerfs instead of understanding how to counter x profession.

Energy allows to create powerful effects without much fear while cd stops the skill to be spammed (otherwise you’d need energy costs over 50% and would be unusable)

you are not suppose to spam ability on cd like other classes.
and this is actually confirmed since the highest dps calc on rev requires the majority of the hits to be AA, other skills are situational/reational.
Then where are skill, that get protection by 50% (not for funny 5 second against scrapper 15), healing all for 50% of their health, why engj can remove conditions (even druid), but ventari no…
Why i should spamming skills to do something like others (even clean water elem heal more. and i don’t say about tempest at water build)?
Hight dps with no condy resist? Good necro/thief/guard/ranger say you hello with roots and chilling. If you change to demon, say hello to the burst dmage…

However when cooldown duration means that a Rev would regenerate more energy than they’d even spent on the skill in the first place, there’s no longer any play to having energy in the first place.
Take the 5s on Phase Traversal. If it was 3s or even 4s, it’d make sense. As it stands, during those 5 seconds with default energy regen you’d have generated 25 energy, in the cooldown of a skill that costs 20. The complexity of that skill is now entirely removed, all that matters is if you can afford to use it initially. They’ve nerfed the skill, but inadvertently buffed how easy Rev is to play.
Even making it 4s would be a huge patch on this issue. A minor buff, which would actually inject a lot of the complexity back into the usage of the skill, as you’d only generate enough to use it again, and so those 4 seconds would’ve been wasted in terms of energy generation. That’s the sort of play I swapped mains for, decisionmaking, rather than just pushing buttons off cooldown.

Yeah? Thats why i aa 90% of the time on sword. You also missed my picture where my phase traversal is ON 12CD!!! Slapping cd’s is just a beginning and i slowly lose interes into the class as it was sold to be as all about managing my energy. Whats the point of energy management when i am punishment either way to skillful management? It dumbing the whole class down to friendly casual level. May as well just spam everything off cd and i will continue to have energy, thats the direction where stuff goes.
If i saved energy for phase traversal i should cast it as much i like it to do, if i saved 100 energy (try that in pvp, lets see how it goes for ya) for jade winds i should be able to cast it back to back. Instead im being punishent that when i have to use second heal i lose all the energy i tried to manage for some burst due to lame cd’s.
Where are cd’s to thief skills im asking? They need them too at this point.
Im simply against dumbing this class down. Soon it wont matter if youre advanced in rev or just started one as energy management wont matter at all. Much skill, mlg noscope levels.
Energy management can be interesting, but we has no sense for this. All damage not bigger, then at warrior or new necro (or at thief with theis spaming mechanick. Come to the help your ally and spam,spam,spam all keys with no mind. No one will survive!). But they can spam, we can’t.
Supports can waste all their healing/stuns/avoids/anything else at critical moment, we can’t…
All problem, that we has no casual mechanic, where we should use one skill at the one moment. Not spamming differents skills, just wait and use property…
For example: with f2 temper can heal one ally at 600 radius by 7k xp and remove 4 conditions. Cd of that “skill” 25 seconds. While it on cd, he can’t use water branch. It’s really good realisation of “strong, but dangerous skill”

This energy + cooldown system is a throwback to GW1 in which most classes used this system. It allows you to have strong skills with low or no cooldowns because of energy management. Its a far more interesting system than either Thief or just cooldowns.
Also if mobility is so important to you, you should have Axe offhand. So that you have Sword’s Unrelenting Assault, Axe’s Frigid Blitz and Phase traversal all providing mobility.
We can’t spam?
See a fight, pop all three utility aspects, switch to the murderer, hit IO and then spam your AA until it melts.
Cooldown locks a player from spamming the same skill.
Energy locks the player from spamming the remaining skills.
They complement each other perfectly. It also gives to anet more tools to balance the class. Imagine if the revenant was doomed to only have energy like the thief: anet would be forced to increase its energy cost, nerfing the skill in every aspect of the game. But by preserving the same energy cost and adding some CD, they had the freedom to nerf the skill in some specific situations where it was too strong while preserve its power in other situations where it was fine.

I always thought that for revenant skills it would be better if they had an escalating cost each time after the first that you used a skill, but that that extra cost cooled off when you didn’t use it.

The point of the energy system is to have upkeep skills. That’s it.
The recent nerf clearly demonstrate that Anet has no idea on what to do with revenant, they didn’t even waited for people to understand the class that they destroyed the most widely used dps legend.
I guess Anet developers should start playing the game so they can understand what they do, instead of blindly reading pvp whines of people that (rightfully so) hasn’t had the chance to learn how to counter this new class yet.
