…I decided to have some fun and come up with an idea for Revenant’s Shortbow. Partially to show that a bow doesn’t have to be boring at all.
Numbers on tooltips are purely to reflect an idea and give some vague feeling of the skill. They are not balanced.
The weapon is heavily based around punishing enemy’s positioning. It has multiple tools that can be combined into rather deadly sequences. Most importantly, it can also make enemies harmful to each other. Foes hit often face decision whether to move or not.

Brief explanations of the skills:
- 1. Chaos Arrow – Chain Auto Attack. Fairly standard chain attack inflicting Torment and transforming from single target to an AoE if it hits enemies affected by some other Shortbow effects. As the name suggests, it capitalizes on chaos the weapon can create, being a bit more deadly against moving targets.
- 2. Miasma Shot – 2nd skill. Cheap and low-cooldown attack that aims to punish enemies for standing too close to each other, forcing target’s movement with a risk of harming his allies. The detonation part is unblockable and unevadeable for the struck foe, but it isn’t for his allies. Once an enemy takes the initial shot, he starts carrying miasma pool around him, the “ticking bomb” that can strike his nearby allies. If the target dies at any point of the skill, the “ticking bomb” can spread once to closest foes. Because of that, you might want to capitalize on dying foes/minions/pets to magnify the effect of this skill.
- 3. Branding Spear – 3rd skill. A big, ground-targeted spear launched from the bow that explodes on impact, leaving a burning field. This skill punishes enemies hit by the initial impact for chaotic movement, making them create fire trails behind them when moving that can burn their allies. Fairly hard to hit very mobile targets with because of the quite long cast time and ground targeting, so you might want to combine it with other skills.
- 4. Mutilating Ambush – 4th skill and it’s flipover. Skillshot, multi-layered ability that can be used for re-positioning, defensive capabilities or to briefly empower your burst against struck targets with something akin to condition snapshotting. It also has a flip-over skill that, for 10 additional Energy, allows you to instantly swap positions with the assassin (while he hasn’t reached the max range and dissapeared yet). Being instant, it can be used to mitigate things like stuns if used pre-emptively. As for the toxin part of the skill, it increases duration of all conditions you apply to the target (going past the cap) during the debuff for their entire duration.
- 5. Ring of the Mists – 5th skill. An AoE delayed pull that punishes allies for leaving their allies. The more unique enemies escape the ring, the harder it is to escape for the ones remaining inside. High combo potential with other Shortbow skills, as it can create one big group you can easily punish.

tool. I hope this shows that Revenant can, in fact, get a new cool weapon. Now, let’s wait for the reveals.
