Why and when they added Weaponswap
I feel it was both testing and feedback that lead to Rev getting WS but I may be wrong.
I do remeber ruby or Roy mentioning that there was heaps of feedback asking for it
Just watch the video I linked at 5:15.
Roy literally says that they had discussed it internally and were already giving Revenant weaponswap, it just wasn’t ready in time for the last beta.
The problem with the (2?) people hating WS is that they think Roy/devs added it because of the community crying about it.
If you put it this way, we can say that the mistake was really not having WS from the start.
agreed
Revenant is not stronger with WS, it’s jut QoL.
However, this statement is wrong. Revenant IS stronger with weapon swap. Although that’s not a bad thing, because based on feedback the revenant was weak in comparison to other classes.
You’re not getting more dps swapping weapon. Sword AA is our strongest attack

Utility is a strength.
I meant damage however.
With weapons tailored to specific legends, and being stuck with a single weapon but two legends, made the class feel less finished that it should have felt.

This pretty much summed it up. Revenant right now is a very packaged character. If you take Sword/Sword, you’re intended to also take the Shrio Legend and also intended to take the Shiro Line. Malyx isn’t even usable without Corruption for the Resistance on Demon utility use or it’s too much of a detriment even with the reduced durations.
Not having another weapon just wasn’t justified and it should be good now.

Both of you have it wrong:
“By no means are weapons tied to a specific legend.”

It’s not required but synergy-wise it’s almost a necessity. I think you are just nitpicking semantics at this point.

O.o
I quoted Roy….. It’s his words, not mine. LOL! How is that nitpicking semantics? His point was pretty plain.
I’m not trying to offend xD While yes, weapons are not “tied” to specific legends, the synergy between them is so great that it leaves a lot to be desired when you legend swap to your second legend while only having a weapon set which synergies with the first one.
I do not agree. As I explained multiple times, original weapons combinations are better then supposed ones.
Hammer+Shiro and Hammer+Ventari are both better then Hammer+Jalis (come on, hammers rotating on close distance and taunt chain on a ranged weapon), while Staff+Jalis is the best tanking combination. Also Sword+Mallyx is under elite upkeep is the highest dps probably.

Oh, I didn’t take offense m8. Sorry if I came off that way.
Regardless, I still don’t see where this synergy is so great though. The one exception I can see this is with Mallyx and Mace/Axe, but I always looked at Mallyx as a response to taking conditions, and not necessarily in giving them out. The idea behind him was that you get stronger the more condi’s you take, not get stronger the more condi’s you put out.

It’s pretty obvious there’s a packaged synergy there for each line. You’re nit picking semantics because when we’re pointing out those packaged combinations you’re saying it’s wrong because technically you don’t have to follow them. Which, okay, sure but that doesn’t mean they’re any less packaged even if you choose to be different.
We are actually saying that it’s better if you don’t follow them, the only exception being Mallyx+Mace and partially Shiro+Sword.
EDIT: what do you think is Jalis weapon? Hammer?

Please point out which ones are supposed to be packaged with synergy.

So what happens if you were stuck without a weapon swap, and wanted to run a hybrid spec? You’d be able to swap legends, but not weapons, so you’d be stuck with a potentially undesirable weapon for one legend.
Edit: also, with only a legend swap, and limited utility skills, the revenant actually had fewer available skills than the engineer and elementalist, which it was supposed to emulate by not having a weapon swap.

Dude, I want weaponswap. I was just saying that it’s better now that is not tied to legendswap but independent
