Pretty simple question, wondering if this has been considered. Before, Revenant was intended to be a non-weapon swap class, and as such a single weapon type for each standard gameplay type (dps, ranged dps, condition) wasn’t a big problem. However, it was recently revealed that Revenant will have weapon swap, and while Hammer acts as a one-size-fits-all for power-based builds as a Utility power weapon, there seems to be a distinct lack of a Ranged condition weapon to be paired with Axe/Mace.
So my question is, will there be an addition of a ranged condition weapon to the base so that the Revenant that focuses on condition damage isn’t forced into a sub-adequate weapon type due to a lack of options? Or at least, has this been a consideration? Perhaps for the second elite?
Mallyx is heavily tied to condi melee. So unless we have new legend or each legend has another set of skills (which I want to see), we’ll be pretty limited in condi range. Frigid Blitz is a 900 range shadowstep + chill though so you can gap close relatively easily.
Yeah since I got the fractal mace the other day I think I really want to use mallyx revenant a lot, but I’m not sure what the other weaponset would be.
If I go carrion (which is generally better than rabid for pvp, despite losing on crit procs from traits) then hammer wouldn’t be too bad in the offhand since I’ll have the power, but it still wouldn’t be ideal. Maybe sword or staff though, but I honestly don’t know.
It’d be easier to mix it up if I had a cele mallyx revenant, but without easy mightstacking (shiro trait isn’t enough imo) idk how good cele would be, and it would probably need jalis or ventari for sustain.

All melee weapons have some way to close a gap. Closing a gap and meleeing serves an entirely different purpose in combat than having an actual ranged weapon.
Also, while BE is only 600 range, the other skills are all still entirely useful. One grants REsistance (useful for anything, really), the other is extreme area denial, which I’ve currently had the most use out of when paired with Hammer (a ranged weapon) because it keeps you at a distance to use your ranged attacks more freely. And the elite grants a large stat bonus. The only skill that would be a little wonky for a Ranged condition weapon on Revenant is Banish Enchantment, but it wouldn’t be the first time there were skills that didn’t entirely line up with one another range-wise.
Point is, base Revenant still has a pretty significant gap for condition builds, as they don’t really have any good swap options for, say, a Rabid build.
Maybe Mainhand Axe/ Offhand Mace as a ranged condi setup? Would allow mixing with MH Mace/ OH Axe for different setups.
Axe about cuting rifts which may deal a random conditions and Mace for knockbacks,cripple and torment to stay at range

My guess is that most Rev builds will be picking the only 1200 range weapon option (Hammer) unless Staff utility of an extra heal/condition removal ability is important for you. The Hammer 6s ranged forward arc block and 2 blast finishers (one being stun) is likely to outweigh that utility though.
This is not a unique problem for just condition-primary-based builds.

so you basically want to swap places between utility skills and weaponskills, making legendswap like attunement.
No, thank you. Attunement changes thinks like the skills you are suggesting to implement. Legendswap is supposed to be something different.
Also all this fuss is just because there wasn’t weaponswap since the beginning. If revenant had weaponswap from the start, nobody would have cared.
Weaponswap was already planned for Revenant however. They had a build redy with it, already compiled. It was shown literally 4 days after the beta event and the feedback.

Numbers and abilities can be tweaked. However, there are at least options for both melee and ranted power / utility builds. Currently there isn’t really a condition option for ranged, let alone a very realistic alternative to mace/axe at all.

I wouldn’t mind they honestly because we have several off hands, and will gain another with Glint. We just really need any type of ranged condition 900-1200 range weapon. If it’s a 1h, so be it.
