With all these CDs and energy costs...
Is sad that Revs had a viable condi build along a functional hammer at the beginning of HoT and now both things are gone. For having 5 legends the scarcity of relevant Revenat builds is spine-chilling.
I think they should just give rev access to all legends at all times, similar to elementalist attunements. Still think it’s funny how the thief still has a similar energy management design.

I think all legends at once would be a little overwhelming, especially considering we would still want to keep weapon swapping, but it would be interesting to see Rev balanced around using 3 legends. It would take a lot more balancing for Anet, but the way I see it, we’re slowly losing everything the Rev had going for it at release: No cooldowns, energy management, reaction based skills. Right now it feels like I’m just popping cooldowns and and autoattacking until either they’re off cd or I’m dead.
Revs just need a new dynamic very badly right now, for both class balance and for it to actually be interesting to play, personally it feels like somehow Rev has become more unfinished then it was at release.
3 Legends is something I would like as well and based on the state of Revenant right now…it is possible, but managing Legendary Centaur Stance in this condition is going to get really tricky.

Honestly I don’t think it’d be op of rev got access to all 4 legends at once. Simply because each legend has different strengths and weaknesses for situations. We’re not like other classes in that we can’t mix and match our utilities, we’re locked in to whatever legend we’re channeling at the time, so people will always know what to expect and how to react to it.
Not everyone wants to play piano with their keyboard. That’s what elementalists and engineers are there for.
Some people prefer more streamlined and relaxing mechanics, and having both weapon swap and legend swap is already enough.

I can sort of agree to that, though honestly, I think it would be a neat idea as long as it wasn’t required to spam Legendswap constantly to be effective like elem.
Three legends would be enough.
That said, a start to addressing the Energy situation would be to just make Weapon skills not consume energy but function on cooldowns, while utility/heal/elites consume energy, with the heal/elite having a cooldown+energy use combo.

So you get to decide what classes aren’t piano players? Why only two classes out of the many? That’s bit unfair there are plenty who wish to play piano as well beyond being just a ranged character.

No way. Revenant needs to go back to it’s mechanic basis and stick with energy only imo.
I propose this.
1. Weapon skills no longer cost energy.
2. Utility skills (except heal) will use energy only. All of them
3. Start at 100 energy
4. Remove energy gain on legend swap
5. Remove cd from legend swap
And based on that rebalance utility cost.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
So being the top class in pvp means you have no viable builds?

Its clear that they want us to deal with both Energy and Cooldown management at this point. There’s little chance that they’ll make us completely dependent on energy alone.

I agree wholeheartedly on 1 and 2. I’m not sure why we don’t start at 100% in the first place, so 3 is acceptable if they carefully manage the costs of utility energy.
I don’t agree with Legend Swap CD being removed. If it is, then we’ll likely end up like Elementalists and unable to go back to the previous “Element” (legend) invoked due to it being on its own cooldown.
Can you elaborate on 4 a little?
I know another thing I’d like to add is that Energy shouldn’t be drained till a skill actually takes effect, like Impossible Odds or Embrace the Darkness.

Im not sure if i understand right. Removing cd on legend swap means you can adapt your utility skills to X situation/camp one legend.
My point 4 means that managing energy will be crucial. In current system its “drain and swap” for 50 energy, in mine – you can swap every second if you feel like that but you wont get any energy nor it wont reset from 70 to 50. You start with 100 energy and you have to manage it right, like thief ini. In other words i start with Shiro, cast 2 jade winds in a row and swap to Glint but my energy remains 0.
And that “another thing” is a bug.

It’s also unfair that if you want to play a traditional elemental mage in GW2, you have to be a piano player AND an attunement-dancer generalist. But that’s a flaw with this game.
It would be better for each profession to have at least one more mechanically-demanding elite spec (revs, guardians, warriors, etc) and at least one less mechanically-demanding elite spec (elementalists, for example), than force entire professions to be stuck at specific complexity levels.

No you don’t. The traditional mage is staff elementalist which sits in fire for 100% of it’s DPS rotation and only uses 3 buttons + fire overload for the majority of it’s DPS. Swapping out of fire is a gigantic DPS loss for staff elementalist, which is the traditional MMO mage.
the forum for the class that was originally designed with 2 legend swaps and NO weapon swap for balance purposes now wants access to 3-4 legends with zero CD on top of weapon swapping?
only on the forums…

Ok, I get that but my point was so little classes are piano players to begin with and you have options, there are simplier specs to play as, you don’t have to play an ele to its versatility.
And I have to disagree with elite specs, complex mechanics should remain in complex classes if you have a simple class with an complex elite people will complain allot.

The notion of NOT being able to change weapon for a class that DOESN’T have any skill flexibility (heal + utilities + elite are prearranged) and on top of that MUST spent energy ALONG cooldowns is insane. And currently the class is utterly useless for roaming -any thief, mesmer, ranger or warrior can poke you to death while dancing in circles since Anet destroyed Phase Traversal-.
I’m not in favour to add more active legends, and I’m not about to ditch energy -due this two bassic mechanics are what make unique the class-, but the energy cost must be revamped OR the damage buffed OR the defensive options (condition cleansing, healing…) entirelly changed in order to make some viable builds.
At the begining of the expansion condi Rev, hammer and power Herald were all viable; currently power Rev is only viable in Conquest (not roaming, WvW raiding or duelling), and in PvE the only good build is “autoattack sword #1”.

Thats not true I have a few friends who have different builds then simply aa spamming and have no problems. This is for pve though I cannot speak for wvw or pvp in general.

Literally anything works in PVE, though.
Just because something works fine against mobs who don’t move much or can be easily cheesed by blinds doesn’t mean that things are fine in every other game mode.

I’m not even talking about open world and not everything works fine in pve, anyways your comment doesn’t even apply because I Specifically said pve. I never said anything about the other game modes except the fact that I cannot speak for those. The problem is that it was stated that there was only one good build for pve which was an aa playstyle.
