Hey folks,

Coming back on the game after being away for 3 years. Therefor I dont know much about rev and would ask you about the following :

- Would Rev be a good choice for solo/duo roaming in WvW
- If so, which build is currently efficient in that regard ?

If not, and I know its not Rev related from there, which class should I look for ?

I do have looked other threads but couldn’t find a consensus on those points.

Rev is still strong in the right hands although its not ideal for solo roaming. Duo with an Ele would be effective i believe. In WvW condi are rampant and thats a Revs weakness which is why i dont see many solo revs.

For solo play, you will get ganked by alot of condi thieves, and condi everything. By switching to mallyx instead of shiro for example you still dont get enough resistance to handle condi spam.

For blobs, theres a backline build with herald/shiro Hammer/Staff.
Then theres a melee blob build which is recommended, going with mallyx and dwarf with same weapons as backline.
Last viable build for WvW is the Healbot Revenant with Ventari, which is hard to gank. Shows its true potential when roaming in a small group of min 2 people. Also really useful for blobs. Kinda difficult to master due to the tablet coordination.

In solo you’ll be hardcounter by a lot of stealth users, specially if they use condition builds and ranged attacks.

If you’re roaming alone as a power Rev you need to master every block/evade/blind and being able to read every enemy animation and react in time to success, but played at the highest level is the strongest build this class has.

Solo condi Rev isn’t as strong but requieres less skill,because you can fight inside your AoE condis and the build can be customized to be tanky, which leaves more room for mistakes. Still, ranged kitting and classes with tools to reset the fight will be your bane.

Roaming in a duo or small team I’ll advise to go condi: power Rev loses burst potential when is more than one target involved, and is very vulnerable to cc. If you roam with a partnes I’ll recomend you to either an Ele (for the cleanses and the combined AoE cc potential) or a ranged class with stealth access (Ranger, DH, Mesmer… even Thief). Essentially you can work as the bait, putting a lot of pressure due torment, chills and fire, whereas your partner should save its ranged burst against any attempt to disengage.

Stealth (disengage and fight reset) is the only thing that stands between those pesky thieves and your victory. So if you gonna play with a friend chose one with a good ranged burst or cc (better if can stealth himself) and just crush your enemies.

You can do great things if you really learn your skills and their effects. Hard part is to manage cd and energy at the same time. Skill spamming is the greatest enemy of rev. You need to read the situation and decide the correct form of action. It will be very easy after a while. Rev is one of my good roaming choices. You can easily manage 1v2 (with the exception of certain builds).

Try and hafe fun. And do not forget, there are several bugs and problems in this class because it is not finished yet

I’m a revenant main. Revenant is a viable roamer, but you have to be extremely aware of your surroundings for stealth ganks, spec for maximum conditions clears (cleansing sigil and leadership), and dodge nearly every attack that you can. TBH, it is probably one of the hardest classes to roam with. Engi might be the only one harder because everyone just walks away from E-gun auto.

Revenant has the damage to roam, but the survivability is based on how well you can dodge/block attacks and outplay the enemy. 1vX is a major kitten because of how sword damage gets split, but in a small party revenant brings a lot of boons and damage.

I love solo roaming as a rev… There is no greater feeling in the game then stopping some little thief cheeser from stealthing away with Gaze of Darkness.

And, I don’t know if you’ll like rev as it’s much less face roll than War or Thief, but your duo partner will love running around with your perma-lazy-mode-swiftness.

I would say Glint/Shiro is pretty mandatory for solo or duo play right now tough… Due to how much immob spam there is.
