any theorycrafts for ES usage?
It depends on the game mode. For pve, herald can be used to keep fury up 100% of the time for a party as well as just as boon and dps combined with shiro. But it’s hard to tell what elite will be like until we get to test it in game.
There are already a few crafted specs out there using Herald. I did one a few days ago and was helped to make it better by a few others. I can’t say much about WvW and PvP since I don’t tend to go into those came types often. What I can say, is each game mode is very different. A herald will see a different use in PvE than it would be PvP and in WvW.
PS. Look around the forums. There are some interesting builds going around for each game type.

As for PvP, downside of Glint is rather unreliable Heal.
It works pretty much like a little bit shorter Defiant Stance and while it has potential to heal to full, it may as well don’t heal you at all if used incorrectly, has very short window & long cooldown and has to be used in combat. I hope that this “basic” 1-2k heal on use scales pretty good with Healing Power.
Because of that, I believe setup Shiro/Glint may have hard times in PvP.
Glint may work very well with Ventari, but this setup in competitve play may require serious dose of high skill and I’m not sure if we will see someone successful on higher MMR playing it in upcoming weekend. Both Legends have amazing synergies, but, second time – no actual #6 heals. They might be all right, however, if new Shield heals and other heals scale good enough.
Glint with Mallyx? Now this has some sweet synergy with Resistance boon and could see some play. Mallyx has pretty solid Heal and useful Utilities, it’s pricy though.
Unyielding Anguish is an amazing non-direct support, similar to Necromancer Support builds, where you focus on peeling, not actual boons or heals and rezzing.
That leaves us with Jalis. Jalis has some Condition removal and a lot of other stuff. In this case, I believe it’s likely that it will see some play after the changes.

Shiro/Glint for pve though this looks like it could be alot of fun for high risk wvw burst builds. Can roam around with group-wide perma protection until its time to fight.
Shiro/Mallyx for spvp
Glint/Mallyx could be interesting with some sinister/hybrid builds.
Glint/Ventari for the dumpster unless we’re given some solid hard content that needs that level of healing. (or if you like playing pvp bunker builds yuck)
I totally see Jalis/Glint (only conceptually until Jalis is fixed) for a WvW backline support, same for Ventari/Glint or Ventari/Jalis+Nature. Hammer+Staff in all 3 setups.
Shiro/Glint looks pretty fun in pve group events, while Glint/anything-except-shiro looks pretty darn useful in dungeons and fractals. S+Shield/Hammer being my weapons of choice.

Unless some massive changes occur between now and release i dont think youll ever see a pve build of any kind without shiro in it. that level of quickness is a big deal for both power and condi builds.
Two big factors are the current PvE Meta and current Revenant design. Both of these have a chance of dramatically changing as time goes on with HOT and it’s development. They could just as easily make PvE more like Living Story season 2 where there’s a lot of short windows for DPS, then large windows of requiring survivability and in fact they’ve stated numerous times they used Living Story Season 2 as a test for many new mechanics. We’ll find out next week what “challenging group content” actually means. Revenant is on an upswing currently, but who knows if Roy decides to get all wrathful and takes it all away.
That said, based on current pve speed clear meta and revenant design I see:
PvP – Shiro/Malyx. Malyx is great 1v1 and has potential even to “deal with” D/D Cele eles due to strong boon strip and more condi than they can clear. Shiro is a must because it’s the only stance with quick enough reaction skills for PvP with utilities like Riposting Shadows.
WvW Backline – Shiro/Malyx again. Malyx provides strong area denial for backline defense with Unyielding Anguish and support with pain absorption. Shiro provides strong self defense and in combat mobility with super speed on demand. I want to throw Glint in here, but honestly Glint’s buffs aren’t worth their energy cost in this scenario for what they give. Granting Fury for half your energy regen is a null gain. You’ll eventually be left with no energy for defensive or even weapon moves which is pretty much death in WvW. All the actives are limited range often at a 360 radius around you or up to 600 range (most backline hovers in the 900-1200 range).
WvW Frontline – With the IR nerf don’t see the obvious Glint/Jalis combo happening which is sad. IR and the Heal were the main two reasons to go Jalis. If they fix Jalis (make Hammers stay on regardless of collision, give more stacks of Stab with IR and reduce up time or add (self?) stab to Rite) then I see a really strong Jalis/Glint build happening for front line groups.
PvE – Shiro/??? here spec’d into Herald. Adding +50% boon duration during the initial boon stacking part in PvE would be a huge plus and can be done without being in Glint.
Shiro/Glint looks pretty fun in pve group events, while Glint/anything-except-shiro looks pretty darn useful in dungeons and fractals. S+Shield/Hammer being my weapons of choice.
Shiro is still pretty good for PvE. The leaping in and stun break for one as was Impossible odds. As long as use the heal as something that has be up a lot it’s fine. I played Shiro/Jalis during the last beta weekend through several dungeons and it wasn’t bad at all. I went down a few times but that was more because I wasn’t paying attention than anything else (as well as just not knowing who to run yet on a rev through mobs I mean). With glint and the swiftness it looks like the skips for the mobs will be easier than it was with just Impossible odds.
I think I’ll use all the legends, picking them according to the situations. Back on topic, Herald is pretty good regardless of the legends you choose.
