[bug?]Unrelenting assault & confusion.
It is the intended mechanic, it is exactly the same for Retaliation, if for ex as a Warrior you make 100ed Blade to Confusion or Retal you will kill yourself.
But for ex Warrior has reliable cleanse or invuls that you can bypass this. Revenant, specially Dragon/Shiro does not have it. So I think they should have something that will reduce the effectiveness of confusion.
Hasn’t confusion always worked that way with channeled multi-attack skills?

The difference is that 100 blades only hits you with 1 tick of confusion on activation, and not for every hit, you still get hit with retaliation on every strike though.
That’s how it works with every multi-hit channeled skill, such as pistolwhip / blurred frenzy / 100 blades.
This is cause retaliation triggers on hit, and confusion triggers on skill use.
It even says so in the tooltip of confusion “Damage received on skill activation; stacks intensity.”.
When I’m using unrelenting assault, I activate ONE skill, yet I get hit 7 times.
Currently, UA counts as 7 separate skill uses, not 1. Whether it’s a bug or not remains up to Roy. Personally, it should remain so that it can be considered a counter, to keep all the “poor me, I can’t l2p” whiners that think it’s OP.
For those who don’t know how GW2 works, the confusion condition ticks once when you activate a skill, whether that skill makes multiple attacks or not. ONCE.
As for Unrelenting Assault tick’ing 7 instances of skill-activating confusion damage, I think it’s a bug. Why? Because no other skill in the game works this way. They’d make a special note of this in the UA description if this was an intended mechanic.
If kept the same, is this a new counter for UA? No, not really. Not all classes have access to confusion, and even if they do, they may not have much of it or be built for condition damage.

Not all skills in the game have counters. Should those be fixed too?

Never did I say that all skills should have counters. I just pointed out that confusion isn’t really a counter for UA.
Do I think UA needs (more) counters? Probably. High damage, teleporting, might-stacking, 2-3 second evade on a 10 second cooldown (without adding benefits from traits or other skill synergy) is quite strong in my opinion. Though, I haven’t had the chance to test it personally yet, so I’m withholding my final judgment until then.
recommending that a bug stay in the game to “appease” the whiners is a terrible strategy.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "

Then I regress. Still, once a person learns the skill, it’s very easy to avoid/counter with what is available now.

That was more or less a sarcastic joke m8. I wouldn’t take that too seriously.
It doesn’t necessarily seem unreasonable to me. As in, I didn’t seem to have a huge problem with it in my experiences and it seems like it provides a fair counter.
Then again, I play fresh air ele and engi. On those classes, between traits, dodge rolls, kit/attunement swapping all procccing confusion it seems a lot worse.
Plus, things like chaos armor proc confusion damage on the wearer each time they’re activated.
There may be some larger issues with confusion, but I don’t think this is necessarily one of them. Sure, you have to play smart and not use UA when stacked with confusion—that’s not inherently a problem.
I almost one shot my self with 7 stacks of confusion with UA one time. Didn’t feel like I could do much since condi cleanse access mia

Isn’t also just as easy to cancel-cast by stowing your weapon(s) as per standard competitive practice in this particular game?

Not all skills can be cancel-cast by stowing your weapon. Why this is, I have no idea. I hope UA is one of them.
