how do you deal with conditions?
trying to play this class and its all fine until you come out against a team of condi users, not just condi necro. i just cant handle it. mallyx doesn’t really do much as far as i can see plus the cost is too high. so what do you do?
i know when i play condi reaper its a snore fest against most revenants.. could just be my mmr bracket terrible me vs terrible them, i just cant stand it any more its so boring and this class looks like fun but.. the conditions are to much from anything !
You need to set up your traits in Corruption line to Demonic Defiance which give resistance boon for all of your Mallyx skills (incl elite and healing). That way you will have some time to react.
Use Bolstered Anguish to gain 3% damage for each condition on you. Maniacal Persistence seem to work from what I can see when I use it, so I would recommend that trait to get more critical hits chances during a fight which also help to trigger weapon sigils with on crit a bit more often. From other threads here on GW2 and my own tests it seem like Pulsating Pestilence isn’t working and you will only copy your conditions (not transfer them) which can make it hard for you to stay alive, if you already have problems with how many conditions you have on you.
With Legandary Dwarf Stance healing, Soothing_Stone , you will get rid of only three conditions at a time (and retaliation for short duration). Don forget Vengeful Hammers reduction of incomming damage and conditions (works even when you energy are low).
Empowering Misery healing will get stronger with more condition with the exception for Poison, so you need to learn how to swap and when to keep conditions on you until the right time. (More damage vs too many to clear conditions as an example. Ignore condition which only hampers movement (example: torment – stay still if you don’t have too many application of it on you or in need to get our of more AoE [blocking/evade etc might prevent more conditions]), if you aren’t in real danger and let time take care about those.)
There is also a trait for Legend swap which will clear one condition (but 9 seconds delay until next swap is maybe too much) and then you have weapons sigils which might help to reduce some pressure.
Take a look at your stats, if you can improve something there. Vitality are for conditions like Toughness are for direct damage, they both give you time to mitigate damage and with some foods/tools you can even get more direct damage or condition damage from both.
Against a “team” of any kind and you going solo on EB/BL or even EoTM there will always be a limit on how many player you can handle in WvW as your energy and CD need to me timed to work which isn’t that easy with stuns, daze and soft CC. The only way to mitigate enemy teams/party/gilds or zergs are to join one oneself.

I only guess you are talking about WvW as you aren’t very clear in your original post, if you only compare other profession with Revenant or if you are actually talking about player vs player situation like in WvW or sPvP.

pvp is all i really do tbh
i think i just fought a revenant with all that and he still died with plenty to spare i was on necro.. in team fights they are the first thing i target and in the end they are usually the first to go down before i get swarmed anyway =p
The way I’ve always normally fought against condi players, is mostly through kiting and using hammer, only using sword+shield to get some dps in but mostly for the healing/blocking provided with the skills you have on them.
sword/shield>glint
Hammer>shiro, love the ripost it provides to remove chill, anything that hinders your movement and provides 50 endurance back so another extra dodge to use!
I was using Runes of the Revenant for a while but realized that Hoelbrak is just fine for defense against conditions(or at least it will be once Staff 4 is fixed). I can usually win fights against condi specs but it is a bit tough, gotta time my glint heal right and pretty much use shiro’s heal whenever its off cd to outheal the condi damage. Also popping the glint heal passive regen helps as well as the healing will help mitigate the condi damage. Lastly, I run Assassin’s Annihilation in Devastation and chance to heal when struck on Retribution to help further mitigate condi damage as well and a sigil of generosity in pvp(sigil of purity in WvW until i can afford a generosity one).
I do pretty well though as long as I’m able to avoid the majority of condi bursts. The key really is to keep pressuring them and dodge the confusion, torment, and burning attacks. Bleeding is fine as long as you don’t let it stack too much. Also be sure to preserve energy if using Shiro while fighting a Reaper as you definitely want to use Riposting Shadows to keep the chill off of you. Shield would also help mitigate condi damage a lot by letting you heal it off if you’re using it.
Staff 4 definitely needs to get fixed asap. I can beat condi specs but it is a HUGE uphill battle especially with Offhand Sword instead of Shield. Also the stupid bugs on Unrelenting Assault need to be fixed that let you get hit and applied with conditions while using Unrelenting Assault. Lastly, the bug that makes confusion damage hit for every strike of your Unrelenting Assault. It’s like Retaliation on steroids and it’s so annoying.

You sure those are bugs? Pretty sure the second is working as intended. And on the former, if you mean due to moving through wells/traps, that seems like legit counter play.

Then a counterplay to dodges are wells/traps as well? Cus dodge = evade. UA = evade
2 days ago or so i got hit from maul during UA. Thats definitely not working as intended.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
Since UA ends prematurely all the time, any chance it wasn’t still going?

Check last post from my bug thread (in sig) for pic.

Confusion should be proccing on each individual skill being used not on each strike. That’s how confusion is advertised as working. Retaliation procs on every hit so this is definitely a bug. Daredevils are having a similar issue where every time they dodge, they take extra confusion damage as apparently the dodges for Daredevil count as skill activation. Also about the first point I made, see Burtnik’s response.
