maining a rev?
It does so far
For PvE content I really enjoy the rev. My main was a warrior for 2 years and I wanted something new. I’ve tried all the other professions and while some were really thrilling for me, such as thief and engineer, in the end I returned to rev. I miss the ability to manage my utilities individually, swap out one while keeping the others, however I feel this is made up for by virtue of the fact that on legend swap mid-combat I get all new utilities. Also, I enjoy the energy management aspect. Maybe no surprise there since I enjoyed managing initiative on thief. Anyway, long answer short. I use rev in all PvE content and it’s great.
Definitely useful in all game modes. The adaptability for situation is great too. You need m ranged damage? Boon corruption? Resistance? Projectile defense? AoE stability? Just swap legends and you can handle anything. Do note that there is always a trade off.

But sadly, even with their effect options, their sub-par dps output makes them unfavorable in most situations where another class could fill that role and do the desired damage. In raid their whole purpose is to extend boon duration so the primary DPS is more efficient, and then help in what ever way they can with dps too.
