I made a little strawpoll out of curiosity to see which players that the Revenant appeals to the most.

I’ll be swapping from ele to Rev (or Druid).

I think it’ll be mostly the people coming from a profession with an elite spec that just isn’t good enough as evidenced by the fact that the top three so far are the thief, ele and guardian.

Well i definitly don’t know if i’m going to vote cause i main from nothing. All characters (and all classes) i have have been my main for some times but don’t fit to the gameplay i want. Revenant hae, finally, the gameplay i want for having really fun in the game. So i’m maining from nothing, like if i haven’t playing since 3 years.

Moreover i was a ritualist with 600h on gw1 so ritualistic theme in revenant stole my heart. I love the lore of tyria too and the priroy of durmand, revenant fits in the historical side of the game with legends of the past so i’m definitly loving it!

I like how engineer had a frowny face.

But yes I plan to main it, I may go back to guardian down the road though as I actually do enjoy dragonhunter a lot besides the traps. I do mostly open world pve and I find herald will do a better job with that.

It’s either I’ll be going back to my Mesmer or playing a Rev. Almost have enough for a full set of crafted ascended armor but I need to gather mats for a weapon or two. Considering buying a legendary shield that way I can move it between my Chronomancer and Rev. As previously mentioned I love the look, feel, and play style of the Rev.

If I had mained any class other than ranger I would probably main rev now but druid looks so cool rev will “only” be my “second main”

Rev will most likely be my main in PvE/PvP. Zerk engi is still my go to profession for WvW roaming.

I had a Ritualist main in GW, so I waited a long time for something thematically similar.
I’ll try to main rev for sure, but I can’t say it’s final until I played him long enough.

i made a full infused celestial armor each infusion 100g fully wardrobes and all my character selection screen(8) wear suit to welcome the upcoming revenant, i’m not bragging i’m just dead excited

I have a Guardian main. Dragon Hunter is on the fence for me. Thankfully I have ascended armor and weapons ready so I can switch them between my Rev and my alt which is a Warrior. My Thief will likely go Daredevil but she is a alt for WvW mainly.

I won’t know until after BWE3, but I think it’s greater than a 50% probability that I will switch to Rev.

…but if I don’t, what do I do with all the Revenant gear / bag slots / etc. I’ve been accumulating?

Similiar to the other poll, but still different. Obviously since my signature at the bottom says it all, I voted yes, from my current main, which is Thief.

However, I’ve switched my mains over the years though. I mained Guardian for 2 years, then mained between mesmer, necro, ranger, thief, then changed to Warrior for a good 6 months, and now currently maining the Thief for the last several months.

Currently I main ele, but I am 99% sure I will change it in HoT (Because Tempest totally failed me and, even when I love my ele, I just want to play something new.) Still deciding between Rev and Chrono. At least for PvE. In PvP I will spend most of my time with Reaper.

Depends now on Druid and how it goes well in BWE3

I’m in the awkward position of not having a main (as I create and delete so many characters), but the closest I’ve had for some time has been Elementalist.

And I fully intend on maining a Revenant. Though the term main only means so much when you have 12 characters and are intent upon 18 characters.

I voted no, but tbh I’m not sure how much time I’ll spend playing one. I kind of want to get more familiar with the class, and since it’s new there’s a good chance I’ll spend a fair bit of time over the first few weeks at launch in the invokers seat.

But it probably won’t take too long to get comfortable, and at that point my revenant may end up a slave to a rich ore node like a lot of current alts.

Revenant for PvE. WvW will be either Rev or Reaper.

Right now Elementalist is sitting at first place with 32 votes (19%) . Second place is not maining Revenant.

That is great for PvP. The more People park their Ele, the less D/D Eles will spoil the fun in PvP.

Funny how most of the switching players come from professions who got crappy elite specs. Only around 5% of Ranger/Engi/Necro/Mesmer are going to switch, because they got the best elites (with scrapper and druid being OP currently). The second less switched is Guardian at 15% up to Ele at 16%.

Durid is simply “let’s exaggerate with healing and cc” and scrapper is “let’s make something with 5 perma boons and +500 toughness”

Revenant is essentially a combination of Warrior & Elementalist elements. The emphasis on melee & mobility of the Warrior, with the on-the-fly bar switching & versatile magical ability of the Elementalist.

There are probably a lot of people maining Warriors or Elementalists right now who would’ve much rather wanted to play something like the Revenant at launch if they could have. Like me. Maining Warrior right now, switching to Revenant in HoT.

And I just got my Sunrise legendary too

I used to main engi, necro, guard, ranger… now it will likely be revn, engi, necro, guard.
My secondaries will basically remain the same.

Yeah I’ve mained warrior for a year now, and it’s getting stale. All the warrior abilities are just so simple and plain in my opinion.

I feel like the Revenant is bit of a mixture between warrior and guardian, which I find attractive.

Much like the elementalist, I really like the versatility of the Revenant. It has some ranged power builds with Hammer, some melee front-line options, some boon support and healing support. It seems like a great profession for folks who value versatility.

If raid performance for each of its roles is solid… I think it’ll be a real win. As a mesmer, I worry that our low DPS and “ok but maybe not necessary support” from Chronomancer won’t get us wanted in a few of the higher-end environments.

Much like the elementalist, I really like the versatility of the Revenant. It has some ranged power builds with Hammer, some melee front-line options, some boon support and healing support. It seems like a great profession for folks who value versatility.

This is pretty much sums up my feelings on the Revenant. Having a Medium Health and Heavy Armor just makes gearing for front line 1000% easier without having to give everything else up to do it. All this culminates in a versatile character at home on the front line or the back line.

I’m swapping from my main Ele(1k hours) to Revenant due to a disappointing elite spec AND a lack of good changes in the class.
Nothing on Ele feels fun anymore to me and I always feel like I need to take either Arcana or Water in every single build(with very little variety in the traits themselves) with at least a few Cantrips to enjoy myself.
Forget that, I’ll swap to Revenant, who despite being a bit inflexible, has a lot of cool new things to play with and I just enjoy the weapons a lot more. Helps that Roy also talks to the players more often.

I see a lot of eles complaing. While you might be correct about the tempest, elementalist is still one of the most versatile classes in the game.

Now about the revenant. I will play revenant but I doubt I will play herald because it will be forced into a certain role with little wiggle room. Revenant now its quite good, you will never complain about having one in your party. I just think he wont be one that is necessary (I don’t know how to put it, hope you can understand what I’m trying to say)

I mained warrior since I started 10 months ago but I dislike using a warrior in competitive play and the Berserker doesn’t appeal to me personally. After theory crafting and testing the Rev over the last two BWEs I have made my mind up to switch main for all areas of the game to Rev for the foreseeable future. I love the play style.

Count me in as another Warrior who is jumping ship for Revenant.

I find the theme and aesthetics of the Berserker way cooler than Revenant, but the Warrior is just plagued with trait problems and lack of build diversity. I really want to play Berserker, but the entire Warrior class needs sweeping changes before it can become viable. Revenant is in a much better spot, so close to release.

This is hard to answer since my three current mains are Mesmer, Necromancer, and Engineer. All three got really nice upgrades.

Mesmer = Chronomancer is your new overlord.
Necromancer = buffed so much it’s almost boring now.
Engineer = still not sure. It’s really effective but not sure I’m enjoying the hammer as much as I thought I would.

So I have some really good choices. But there is no denying I really love the Revenant too. Man I wish I had time for all four.

You’ll hardly get very clean data by posting this on the Rev forum. Those with absolutely no interest in the profession don’t come here :P

I did vote “No” though. I’ll have a Revenant, but I’m sticking to my Mesmer main.

For WvW Ill will be using revenant as main backline until they nerf the hammer.

I truly wanted to do Druid till i saw that they were healers, so yes, i’ll be maining Revenant.

I’d main Rev in an instant but the permanent wrist effect is a total turn off for me :/

I have decided, following BWE3, that I will be maining Revenant.

I needed to test scrapper first. Hammer on Engi is very nice. Gyros are not great, but they’ll probably be buffed. So overall Scrapper is not the best, but was not disappointing in the least. But if I stayed Engi I would have to give up Phase Traversal, Jade Winds, perma resistance, melee staff, the energy mechanic, and so on…

The Dragonhunter has literally devalued my opinion of the Guardian as a whole. So yes, provided I splurge on HoT, I will be switching to a Revenant for my main.

Since Ranger community has had no real dev support for the past 3 years, I will be moving on from the core ranger and make the Revenant my main. I will though keep a druid for wvw/pve raids.

Berserker is meh. So Rev will be my main heavy, necro light and scrapper medium

I will main a Revenant with HoT. Coming from Warrior. Not changing because I dislike the Berserker or something like that. I just want to play something new and decided to main Revenant as soon as I heard of it.
