remove energy from weaponskills
Revenant has many issues. This is not one of them.
I agree with the OP, its current state is pretty stale. The way I imagined it was that your utilities and elites would cost a lot of energy to upkeep and use (thus requiring some energy gain system) which is where weapon skills would fall in to… ex: add energy gain on auto attacks in small amounts to add some sort of mechanic to keep gaining energy rather than.. sitting there not using any abilities..
But oh well, just my opinion
Actually, autoattacking is an excellent way to fill your energy bar. If you rotate between AAs and your other weapon skills, you generally do not lose much energy, if any at all. Whenever I forget to use my utility skills, I find myself with my energy bar full.
True; but with upkeep skills (like 9 on the dwarf stance) or the projectile reflect, when you activate them you not only get the energy degen.. but you have no way to gain ANY energy unless you deactivate them, making it a double edged sword: you lose your regen AND you get energy degen, adding energy acquisition through skills would be a way to counterract this.

I like that weapon skills cost energy. Adds punishment to uneccessary spamming and the costs are not that high. 5-15 is completly manageable.
Skills require work and number tuning, but idea is legit.

I played mainly with the Mallyx legend and at least with him energy management is a big issue. In order to make use of the extra conditions on utility use you need at least 3 conditions on yourself, which in most PvE fights will likely come from using those same utilities. So not only are you kittening off your group by using the displacement skill frequently, you’re also using all of your energy to maintain conditions on yourself. You won’t have enough energy to use the elite skill for more than a couple seconds at a time, let alone weapon skills.
So… if not removed energy costs from weapons, at least lowered energy costs on the utilities.
the problem right now is the decision making… can i use this skill so that i will still have enough..
challenge and brain is cool and stuff if it actually was rewarding, but it’s not.
best example is staff skill 2, that thing is completely useless and still costs energy. if only it was an actual block with a follow up weakness.

I completely agree, it sucks to use Mallyx elite and feel completely powerless as is degens. At least little dips going up from auto attacks would be nice…

I disagree. The energy cost is to high. Plus with that and recharge on it makes you more useless. You have to wait tell it recharges and if you don’t have the energy after it’s done recharging it will leave you open, weak and running away.

I like this idea…some skills that have potent effects (like CC) could be balanced by a higher energy cost rather than a long cooldown (e.g. hammer 5, staff 4, staff 5).

This is where I land as well. Energy looks like it could be a fun resource to manage in combat but not on top of cooldowns and not when EVERY skill drains energy (besides auto of course).
It should be more like Initiative, there need to be skills that BUILD energy. When using an upkeep skill I felt like all I could do is auto attack or the upkeep skill disappears almost as soon as I cast it. It would be nice if weapon skills did not use energy and there was some way to build my energy up.
