staff needs a buff
Thing is staff isnt our 2-handed damage weapon though.
Thats technically hammer even though its ranged.
Staff is a support weapon with SOME moderate damage.
Staff comes with healing component. It seems to be a supportive weapon, similar to the ones for Guardian and Mesmer.

I use staff as my OH anytime ranged isn’t needed. Staff #5 is the break bar destroyer. It 100-0’s most champs.
I really want a greatsword spec.
As others have said, Staff is not meant to be a damage wapon it’s a utility weapon. Learn to use it.

At least one of the skills should apply a condition, mostly confusion. The skills are mediocre at best. And those healing orbs last for 2 seconds, that’s nothing. And the skill 2 counter is awful, too.

Why should it add confusion? It’s NOT a DPS weapon, it’s NOT a condition weapon. It’s for UTILITY. The only skill that needs a rework is skill 2 as it very rarely connects. A lot of people who complain about staff just don’t know how and when to use it. Staff 3 is a fantastic block on a decent cooldown. Staff 5 gives you an evade, gap close, escape or interrupt. I mean it’s a 3 target knockback that does damage, t’s fantastic for interrupting rezzes/stomps.
I think staff is a lot better than people think, you just have to change your perception of the weapon and not ask for aNet to change it to what you think it should be.

It was just a suggestion. I don’t care if they add a condition or a boon but the staff surely needs some tweaks right now. Even for a UTILITY weapon the gained UTILITY is mediocre at best. There are other UTILITY weapons in the game that feel a hundred times more useful then the Rev staff.
The staff is actually really nice for PvP. But I can see what you mean if your talking other game modes.

The biggest thing I see that needs to be done with staff is making #2 easier to hit (as Loco mentioned), e.g. by reducing cast time from 3/4 to 1/2 second.
Second is the healing fragments dropped during third chain of autoattack. These are hard to pick up and don’t last very long.
I would also love to see a cooldown reduction on #5 (e.g. to 15 seconds) and would happily accept a minor damage nerf on staff #5 to compensate. But this is more of a luxury than a necessity.

Staff is an amazing weapon. In my opinion the best Revenant has. It isn’t a damage dealer, that is what all the other weapons are for. Where it shines is the utility. It’s like shortbow for thief, you can slap it on to just about any build and it will work well. However, unlike thief shortbow it still does moderate damage, not the best, but not anything to laugh at either.
Staff has condi clear (very useful on Revenant), HUGE CC (arguably too good against breakbars), health sustain on auto, blast finisher, a mobile block/blind.
If the damage was on the same level as hammer or sword, this weapon would be utterly broken and overpowered.
