another comment i have

had yesterday 5 games ranked with guildies and comms. my guildies havent used to support revenant in thier team so…
my team was 3 dmg, engi and me
we face several team comp
1. 3 condis 2 dmg – we had the oppening but when they started to target me i crambel and die.. also i did bad choices on rotations and expected for help to come. we lost 499-500
2. 4 dmg 1 sustain dmg – we lost big time as i was always targeted and my team fail to do dmg on me so i couldnt run
3. 3 dmg 2 ele support – we won as we target the eles and kill them while i manage to do more 1v2 cause i havent been focused

when i got help i manage to get the focus of me so able to heal better even from range and did about 650 healing and top heal and defense score.
when i got focused it was hard unless my team help me and do dmg on me

also again bad choices i have made… to go 1v2 on contested point….

i play ele later with unranked soloq. versus 2 thief again i had the same problem

so my question is
does ele can handle big pressure of 2 dmg dealers?
does ele need also his team dmg support on him?

or its the revenant problem

Impressive, but to answer your question the problem is Rev.

Rev just does not have enough utility. Just a quick comparison vs. ele:

1.) Ele has a teleport with lightning flash and with dagger offhand can run ride the lightning to reposition. Support rev has zero mobility options.

2.) Ele has passive auras with awesome effects that can remove conditions and do pressure damage to attacking enemies. The energy class mechanic of the rev does nothing to supplement it, instead it actually disadvantages the rev.

3.) Eles can bring both reflects and 2-3 full invulnerabilities. Every bunker/support needs some kind of invul to bridge time between critical CDs. Rev has to take shield for its invul and the shield makes them stationary and unable to act. They simply just get dogpiled wihle this is happening. The standard ele with offhand focus has obsidian flesh, armor of earth, mist form, earth overload, water overload, swirling winds, and diamond skin just for self-sustain.

4.) Ele has superior self-healing with passive signets and a full heal on overload water. Dagger 5 on offhand also heals a comparible amount to one of Rev’s legend heals, which all have low coefficients.

5.) Unlike Ventari rev, Ele can actually both heal and do pressure damage to force enemies to retreat or die. Overload lightning does massive damage to groups even with healing gear on. Rev does zero damage so there is no penalty for enemies to just keep putting pressure on it until it dies. You can’t outheal damage forever, you need some sort of return damage to push pressure off you.

6.) Eles have huge benefits in condition removal with regen applications removing conditions, diamond skin offering front ended immunity, and a full clear in water. Rev just has the tablet cleanse that takes huge amounts of energy, staff, and a piddly one removal on legend swap. Mallyx resistance doesn’t provide nearly enough time because you are getting 1.5 seconds per condition, when each condition application lasts over 8 seconds. Bleed necro/burn guardian will still rek you.

7.) You ask about 2v1, ele is superior because they can actually do enough return damage to cause at least one to retreat or reduce pressure until you get backup. Unlike rev, ele can teleport out and fight reset. Eles also carry enough condition removal to survive multiple condition stacks from different sources, when it only takes one bleed necro or burn guardian to completely destroy a rev -even in Mallyx. This is because rev doesn’t have good cleanses and instead of removing conditions, they just put them on layaway to die from them later.

What your doing in the video is really impressive, but that level of skill is wasted on a rev when you would be much better on an ele.

you have several mistakes

the build ele use is only with lighting flash and sometime even without it and go all shouts build.
each shout remove 2 conditions (with rune) and each aura remove only 1. overload water remove 5 conditions .so you are right. ele has better condi cleanse abilities.
there is no off hand dagger
6 sec reflect with 30 sec cd and 3 sec reflect with 20 sec cd
4 sec invulnerability with 40 sec cd
no armor of earth trait or skill being used
no signet use
no stability
mallyx gives 5 sec resistance base and 1.25 sec more for each condi you remove from ally. so you can have 9 sec easy with good rotation
ele dmg comes mainly from overload air. other that that the dmg output per second is the bit the same.

i said i try ele and encounter more of the same problems to sustain if my team dont support me with dmg. i found that enemies try not to fight ele but willing to lose time fighting rev support.

I was thinking of the water earth tempest build which is far from spvp optimal but more of a WvW build. It’s odd though that I do better with it than the meta shout auramancer so that’s where my perspective comes from. The shout auramancer is even better than what I run in the hands of good players.

What I was going for was pointing out the versatility issues with rev and it’s reliance on gimmicks like resistance stacking vs straight removal. When you think about it, it’s always better to just remove the condi. Resistance can be removed via boonstrip and all necros run corrupt boon. You could be tanking 100 condis on your rev with 20 seconds of resistance the one nec just comes along and corrupts you and that’s gg

It’s bad design flaws like this that make rev weak. Stuff like this doesn’t happen on ele. A single class doesn’t get a universal your dead button against you.
