what do you guys think? i believe staff could’ve been a much better weapon if it wasn’t tied to the passive nature of ventari.
then again, the condi clear is so very much needed.
Staff isn’t really that bad. Staff 5’s CC is still impressive, though it lost some damage, its got a really low CD block/anti-projectile effect, and even heals/cleanses condis, something that we desperately need without Resistance around.
The only lacking thing is Staff 2.
Staff 2 would be good if it use Debilitating Slam first so you can interrupt immediately when needed. Then use Punishing Sweep to do more damage if enemy is not using skill.
Why staff is tied to Vantari?
1) AA damage isn’t that bad
2) Could be better if its 1st skill interrupt
3) Good block
4) A small heal that cleanse 2 condis – where rev lacks
5) CC with good dmg (still).
At the current state I believe that Staff is in way better position than other weapons.
The only thing that ties Legendary Centaur Stance with the Staff is that 1 trait in Salvation (it’s called Tranquil Benediction) which makes it so that orbs grant Regen and Swiftness.
Illias covered the reason why I think Staff is a good standalone weapon.However part of me wishes that Hardening Persistence and Tranquil Benediction swap places in the trait line and that staff was the Herald only weapon and shield was part of the core class.
But then again I kinda hate the Legendary Dragon Stance and I am very glad that I don’t have my favorite melee weapon in the whole game tied to Herald trait line.

Staff is not tied to Ventari legend or salvation trait line. Staff 3, 4 and 5 skill are good in sPvP and solo PvE. Where it lacks, the AA is a bit under performing and should be only slightly behind sword AA. Staff 2 is useless. Costs too much resources and does not deal much damage.
Overall staff is decent and 2nd overall performing Rev weapon behind sword (probably equal if not better than sword in sPvP). If the devs buff the AA a bit and change staff 2 to be in line with sword and hammer 2 in terms of concept and damage it will be great weapon. As for Ventari and salvation, they absolutely suck.
Staff isn’t tied to Ventari in any way, it’s only synergy comes from 1 trait in Salvation line (Tranquil Benediction). Just because it has some support utility doesn’t mean it’s tied to Support Legend nor it does mean the weapon is bad.
If staff #2 were something decent I think staff would be bearable. The AA dmg is still a bit low IMHO.
Staff #2 need to buffed as a “High risk high reward” type of skill so that it encourage people to use it more.
my main issue with it is the same as everyone else’s, skill #2. it’s very hard to land both attacks on the same target in a 1v1 scenario.
I wish #2 second attack was available immediately with no prerequisite, like everyone lol…but I wish either the orbs from the aa chain either healed more, cleansed condis or there were more of them!
