weapon swapping or legend only?
I had this same idea in another thread. We should be allowed to equip 1 weapon set per legend and have it swap with the legend. If someone doesn’t want to swap weapons, then equip the same weapon set on both legends.
I would link weapons to legends. While some legends may work better with some weapons than others let me choose the setup for each legen (which it looks like you can do with skills?) and if I want another weapon hop to a different legend.

The current lack of weapon swap means the rev has a real problem going from melee to ranged.
Having the legends effect weapon skills could greatly reduce that problem and add a bit more quality to the class.
i’d like it if we had a utility skill that we could switch in for legend skills that would either give us a melee or ranged weapon based on the legend. a special jalis melee hammer skill set, some sort of ranged druid-ish staff for ventari etc.

Unless we want to roll only ventari and staff to live and spend 10 minutes on each enemy of course
The weapon linked to the legend makes the most sense to me, though since it seems pretty obvious they are going to have more utility skills to choose from for each legend, I think having one that swaps in a opposite option (ranged/melee) would be a good way to give a little versatility to each of the legends, so if someone wants to solely focus on Jalis, they can do that at both ranged and melee.
I like that idea. Having a weapon tied to a legend makes a lot of sense. As others have pointed out the Revenant really needs a way to switch between melee and ranged while in combat.
Another option might be to have each legend change the weapon skills of each weapon. For example under dwarf legend the hammer might be a melee weapon whereas under the centaur legend the hammer might be a ranged weapon. (While this idea might prove interesting, the OP’s idea of having a weapon set tied to each legend might be simpler to implement.)
How about something like this:
1. Each Legend has a single weapon linked to it (e.g. Jalis+Hammer, Mallyx+Mace, Ventari+Staff) .
2. Each weapon has a melee mode and a ranged mode.
3. Each weapon has a default mode (e.g. Hammer defaults to ranged control, Mace defaults to ranged condi, Staff defaults to ranged support).
4. When channeling the appropriate Legend, the weapon changes mode (e.g. Jalis+Hammer becomes melee control, Mallyx+Mace becomes melee condi, Ventari+Staff becomes melee support).
5. Some weapons (e.g. OH Axe) might not be linked to a Legend, so they have the same set of skills all the time.
Rev can still only equip one weapon set at a time, but the weapon skills change from melee/ranged with Legend swap (assuming you channel the appropriate Legend).
Might be easier to implement overall, and does not require a new set of 5 skills for every single weapon+legend combination.
Being able to use the hammer for melee control (seriously needs some Taunt options), or the mace as a scepter replacement might be interesting.
