why is energy not like initiative?

good question. probably because if it were Revs would have way to many powerful skills available all to often. can you imagine crystal hibernation without a cooldown? Personally i think revenant weapon skills should be cooldowns, and the utilities should use energy. so sort of like initiative for utilities. this would fix a lot of problems.
Currently everything a revenant does uses energy, but even if they are good at maintaining energy they till deal with cooldowns. by removing energy costs from weapons, and cooldowns from utilities the devs would free up alot of energy allowing revs to adjust to situations better.
but this is only one of many problems with Revenants.

I always figured its Anets way of admitting that the initiative system is incredibly broken, unfortunatly there are too many thief players for them to actually redesign it.

Nothing stops them from adding cd to their skills just like nothing stopped them to slap cd’s on our utilities.
Revenant needs a mechanic redesing when it comes to energy.

Yeah this way arround it could work, but the cd on heal and elite are mandatory, ptherwise you wouöd have a perma stun/ heal profession.
The other option would be increasing energy cost for skills and heal and elite cost a lot or the weaponskills cost more depending wich model you would choose.

How is that a fact? Where do people get this idea?
Having both CD and energy makes the skills easier to balance for anet, and individually stronger which makes them more psychologically satisfying for us players.
It’s not the revenant’s mechanics that are broken, it’s everything else. The spammable combat system (only CD or only energy) is one of the reasons for why GW2 pvp/ esports failed. But Anet can’t simply revamp their entire game now.
CD prevents players from spamming the same skill.
Energy prevents players from spamming skill rotations.
They work really well together.

While not a fact, it is definitely a warranted opinion considering the constant increases we are seeing on the skills. We are seeing added cooldowns AND added energy costs.
Yes, they worked really well at the beginning, before the increased double costs. But at this point, it’s starting to not make sense having both.
