I was worried this would happen and it has. Not that the thief would get nerfed, but that S/D thieves would get the shaft when we weren’t the build people were complaining about, afaik.

When everyone is complaining about D/D backstab thieves, why nerf only the offhand? I have to work for my kills as a S/D thief. I don’t take anyone down in 1-2 seconds. I stack mostly knight gear which has toughness as it’s primary stat and yet before the patch a backstab thief or hundred blades warrior could down me in less than a second. My damage isn’t insainly high and now half of my attacks have been nerfed.

Sure a glass cannon thief could do ~4k dancing daggers, mine were less than or possibly close to 2k when i crit and I have less than 50% crit rate(I don’t remember exact numbers). I can spam three of those if I want to and then I’m out of initiative and have to auto attack and the target(s) still aren’t downed. Meanwhile a warrior can leap in, stun 1 person, and hundred blades a group and they are downed, and the warrior still has three weapon abilities available. After seeing the nerf I had to check to see if hundred blades was nerfed, and it wasn’t

I’ve heard of glass cannon thieves getting a backstab of near 9k and yet that ability is left as is.

Cloak and Dagger is my biggest hit, but takes half of my initiative (and i have +3) and yet it gets a 33% cut?

The main problem that has caused the outroar is that it is no fun to go from full to downed in 1 second. Even less fun when there is no way to see that comming. These nerfs do nothing to change that other than maybe the thief now has to throw in a heartseeker.

I have only run into one other S/D thief in my time playing so I don’t know why nerfs were made that ultimately hurt us the most. If we were OP then I would think there would be more of us, but there aren’t.

The Dancing Dagger nerf should be toned down and the Cloak and Dagger nerf should be moved to backstab instead, or even split between the two if for some reason you really think us S/D thieves needed a nerf.

I’m not even sure why there was a cluster bomb nerf, although that may be because I’m not a glass cannon. It is a slow moving ae that is easily seen and dodged.

I don’t think they were specifically targeting S/D thiefs. The big hit on CnD had a big part in the whole BS build. Meh, arenanet know what they’re doing. In my opinion, they need to make it so that u can’t use steal halfway through precasting another skill, so that other players get a tad bit more time to react before being stunned and BS’d.

I don’t know why CB was nerfed, I mean, it did do pretty high damage, maybe it was to stop CB spamming on control points, I dunno.

I have faith that Arenanet will take the thief in the right direction. If they feel something needs a change, it will happen.

I used CnD only for stealth and Dancing Dagger to close the gap. I mentioned before that 50% damage decrease on Dancing Dagger is off the charts(negative ofcourse)…I still see no shifts from current builds…on the other hand they buffed our already good utility skills, so deception line it is! xD

The reason this seems to hit S/D the hardest:

1.) 2.67 second daze is now 1.5 seconds – nearly half the original (nerf needed, but this is a bit much)
2.) CnD made up about 30-40% of a “daze lock” build damage combo, as opposed to ~20% of a 1 shot wonder BS build combo
3.) Dancing Dagger was used quite a bit by tankier S/D builds for small skirmish damage, whereas 1shot dagger builds only used it on ressers.

Good news is that the S/D build just got stronger for WvW (where it was already shining well). I’m trying out a few pure shortbow spec’s in SPvP so far and am liking it alot, so it’s not the end of the world, just an annoying wing clip for S/D in S/TPvP

Dancing Dagger: This skill’s damage has been reduced by 50%.

i think this change had to be done at some point i was dealing outword to 8k in total bounce dmg but big factor is “ASUMING” i have a bounce target im paying 4 meter for a 5s slow in trade i cant dodge upcoming attack or CnD. i think this nerf was a little to heavy 20% would of been more enough to deal with it.(i used DD for killing mesmer clone to hit them in hide im not sure how i will fight them now.)

Blinding Powder: This skill’s recharge has been reduced from 60 seconds to 40 seconds.

nice little buff

Smoke Screen: This skill’s height has been increased to help it absorb projectiles.

again nice little buff

Tactical Strike: This skill’s damage has been increased by 10% in all formats. This skill’s daze duration has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds in PvP.

Bonus dmg is all good 1.5 second solid change i thought 2 seconds was a little to OP with cloak being at 3 seconds.

Cluster Shot: This skill’s damage is reduced by 15% in PvP.

Cluster shot i would say should of had a nerf but this feel like same P/D nerf of pistol whip nerf if your stand there let the arrow hit the ground you deserve to take a lot of dmg. over all i dont think it effect game play that much.

Cloak and Dagger: This skill’s damage has been reduced by 33% in PvP only.

D/D this was a good nerf there way to much dmg output with bs to cnd combo.
S/D this horrible nerf most of your dmg comes from CnD
P/D i dont think this effect it all that much either way.

Body Shot: This skill now allows players to activate other skills sooner after the ability ends.
Cool Buff

Scorpion Wire: This skill’s range has been increased to 1200.
Best buff in this nerf patch

Overview

D/D patch did not really effect them they still be 3 shotting player and the QQ will keep going

S/D going to have a really rough time. maybe not possible to even play this build anymore. in some match up.

P/P alittle buff yay

P/d i dont think this effect all that much

Short Bow a little dmg nerf no big deal
