13% thieves class in gw2
where did you get this data?
That was a while ago, before they started making ridiculous decisions regarding the class so rashly.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
13% of all character, who was created are thieves, no more, no less.
I would say max 1% in this game are active thieves, tending downwards.
-Charr Thief-
It’s good to be bad!
I don’t think it’s that bad – we do 30 guys on rest, 4-5 are thieves. When I WvW, far more than 1 in 100 are thieves. I’d say at least 10 in 100, maybe more.
This is only WvW though, myabe it’s worse in SPvP and PvE
Persevere!!!!!!!
I do the PvP dailys once or twice a week and find myself to be the ONLY thief in the maps.
I only play 5v5 though.
In WvW classes I see most of (most to least):
1) Guardians
2) Warriors
3) Necromancers
4) Mesmers (all PU)
5) Rangers
6) Thieves
7) Elementalists
8) Engineers.
I was in EB a few days ago, waiting on the cliff above a road looking to gank solos, and you haven’t got much time as there’s not far to reach the keep/guards, so i wanted something I knew I could finish quickly.
In the stream of people which appeared (I kid you not), everyone I clicked on was a guardian. I thought it was some guardian only guild at first. Just crazy.
Thieves are fairly popular still in WvW, at least where I play. (Gandara) Not as popular as warriors of course, but you see them often enough.
The next patch may change this though: it reduces cheese avaible for the thief without touching warrior or mesmer cheese too much (PU build is actually buffed), and people always go for the cheese.

Not sure what the 13% means…
Does it mean:
A) Any thief created and not deleted (but who knows if active)
B) Actively playing thief.
Quit honestly, if it’s A, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more now, since people might want to try it and then leave it be.
Pretty easy to see for yourself in game though…
The 13% is old data and doesn’t say much about how it was gathered.
I’d imagine today quite a number of accounts have one of each class so what classes are played is far more relevant than how many exist.
The “FotM” effect is also highly exaggerated by players (at least in WvW).
You all are so naive. 1% of the total population of thieves, perhaps less, actually peruses the filth that are these forums. If you think the total thief population is going to budge because of a few decisions made my the devs you’re sorely mistaken.
- old data
- doesn’t show how many active thieves are
- doesn’t show how many 80s
- doesn’t show pvp/wvw/pve population
in wow they also had high population of thieves, but when they posted number of active max lv thieves, it was barely at 2%… same was with pvp in some patches, they had 25% of arena representation as warriors and 2ish% thieves…
this is how tpvp looks in reality: i see many thieves~
[Teef] guild :>
till there will be unbalanced classes like warrior there will be less thieves in future as well.
Next patch is nothing for thief class, just a bunch of dust in player’s eyes
Next patch is fine for me being a d/d, and not having any initiative traits. It’s actually a buff. Also i’ll find fighting other cheese perma stealth d/p thieves easier to fight.
My main concern is the patch will bring in more guardians (who take painfully long to kill, unless they choose to run, in which case it takes even longer), or more PU mesmer players who are looking for an easymode class to win with.
Also elementalists will be easier to deal with since they cant take perma vigor and elemental atunement now, it has to be one or the other. Which is quite a dent in the d/d playstyle.
PU wouldn’t be such an issue if it didn’t basically have 100 percent protection up time on a class on the medium hp tables.
so lets assume its not 13% and maybe 5% or even less
why the hell anet wont gives us buff so more players will play thief and the balance will restore?
For reference, 1 out of 8 is 12.5%.
Ziffy Snidehide, Zadie Hawkkin, Zannie Oakley, Zuulja

so lets assume its not 13% and maybe 5% or even less
why the hell anet wont gives us buff so more players will play thief and the balance will restore?
same reason why they let warriors and necros rampage in pvp
[Teef] guild :>
if they just count the existing thieves, well I have 4 thieves, and i’m using 3 of the to store stuff.
So if everyone deletes his bank thief and creates a bank necros, necros will be OP and will get nerfed so less people play them?
if it works like this, gj Anet^^
If they check, who actually plays actively, please define active Anet.
For me activeley doesn’t mean, crafting and get a daily Teq chest.
What would be really interesting, is: how is the percentage of each class depending on the main character.
