i would like to see thiefs able to use 2 swords instead of 1 sword and 1 dagger.
I don’t know how ya’ll would feel but i personally think my guy would look and feel so much more bad kitten or if anything attack with both weapons when auto attacking instead of just one..

kitten, I got bored one day…made a thief. Used just the sword. No offhand because I’m a player like dat. Just popped in and out of fights with 2. Go in…land some aa…pop out. Surprisingly, worked. I don’t understand “Stab” skill though. It costs 4 initiative and does less damage then your aa. Like wtf were they thinking? I would play thief if there was a kitten greatsword skill set, and a god kitten katana.

I can definitely agree with you on both attacking with both weapons and dual swords. I feel like a flailing idiot swinging away with one hand, and in the other my arm is just kinda hanging out to the side…

Playing some kind of dual sword blademaster on GW2 is like my dream! The game lacks a middle armor blademaster!

Blademaster is nice idea, but Thief class is not nearly close to it… Better be a new class with new mechanics imho.

Thief with 2-H sword/katana = Ninja style. No you can’t have it, it would be too epic to slash people from the shadow with 2H sword :P

Thief, in particular, needs more weapon choices. The most recent patch really illustrated how fragile our choices are in that the nerfs effected so much more than what I imagine their intended target was.

Besides, a greatsword thief would just be stupid-awesome.

While true, this isn’t because thieves lack weapon combo choices. This is because initiative changes the way skills interplay with eachother. Because each skill is “always up”, weapon combos for thieves are much more dynamic than other professions which lump together two sets of cooldowns. Thief skills are much more likely to be evaluated on their merits in comparison to the other skills in a given weapon set, and as a result every weapon combination gets something different out of the same cooldowns.

I’m not opposed to more weapon choice, and I’d very much like to see a sword offhand option, but it won’t fix the problem you’re perceiving.

Not something I haven’t commented on before. A lot of the problem with thief is that initiative forces us to choose the ‘best’ abilities, and a lot of the time you only wind up need one or two things from your skill-set to be effective, which results in a sort of simple and boring playstyle. “Hit one button to hurt things, hit this other button to mitigate damage, forget everything else” tends to be what happens to a lot of our skillsets.

I still don’t think I am wrong on my previous point, however; We have very few weapons to choose from, so when you nerf one thing you wind up inadvertently nerfing the whole class. More weapon combos would allow us to escape this a little better by giving us other options.

Ha, I thought I was alone in wanting a greatsword for my Thief.
Dual swords would be great too.
And a rifle… we really do need more weapons.

I agree that Thief needs more weapon choices, but GS/Rifle/dual wielding two weapons of the same type (besides pistols/daggers) are kinda too much “non-thievery”. What about a crossbow, that fits much better to a thief than a rifle for example. The problem is that Xbows are not implemented in-game now…

Good option would be imho if we can choose from several stealth/dual skills for each weapon set – like another aspect of building for us. That can give Thieves some more diversity without introducing whole new sets of skills….

The #3 skill when not wielding an off-hand weapon is only designed to be used for the first few levels until you get an off-hand weapon. As such they’re kinda sucky, and you really should be using an off-hand.

I don’t really feel dual wielding swords fits the Thief very well. The ranger, on the other hand…

But thieves definitely need more options. Single-wielding should be viable, and I’d like to see some more novelty weapons like whips, claws, and crossbows come into the game.
