4s reveal has not affected me at all i find i dont get time to pull out a full rotation at all when in WvW, i think i get lag and they’re not as close as i think they are as i will backstab and they will dodge or stun me or it will constantly say miss miss miss
i am glad they didn’t do the reveal without attacking, this makes me happy
thank you Anet
I’m glad that the revealed nerf didn’t affect you at all. In fact, all thieves already know that the revealed nerf didn’t affect WvsW at all, nor sPvP.
But that’s the whole frakin’ point.
Yes, thieves know that all PvPers are inmensely happy because the “nerf” DID NOTHING AT ALL to them. Yes, thieves know that PvPers will do anything at their hand to prevent a ‘revert’ or a ‘another fix’ that affects them… from expressing their happiness with the patch, to ridiculize post from people that show discontent.
However, you must understand that other people like to play PvE, you know, that thing that comprises the other 80% game’s content, and this patch actually had a very noticeable impact on their gameplay.
So, I’m glad for you, truly I am. But now, how about getting some tweaks here and there in order to make EVERY THIEF happy?
it doesn’t matter what they do, you will all still have a cry and say how unplayable the class is.
Deal with it, adapt and move on or find something else to do. it’s not like you’re paying a subscription.
What they do matters to me, and to a lot of people actually. I cry when I have reasons to cry, the same as you will cry when they ‘touch’ YOUR playstyle or your combos.
I will adapt if they leave me no choice, of course, but the forums are a tool to express our concerns. And I’m not paying a susbscription, true, but I’m sure Anet have an interest in keeping a happy playerbase in order to buy their future expansions.
Thats because you wvwvw, this change effected pve thieves.
I guess not ALL thieves know that the 4 sec. reveal don’t affect wvw. I feel greatly affected as a valkyrie/divinity D/D thief with 10/30/30/0/0.
Hard to tell yet if the decreased damage (due to less back stabs) is a big deal. To me, the destroyed rotation seems the hardest thing to cope with (Having revealed debuff stop in the middle of the auto attack cycle). It seems such a rushed solution that doesn’t benefit anything at all. After all, auto attack is pretty big in this game. I felt compelled to stack even more cnd’s than ever before which I guess, whas not the point of this patch.
I believe that changing the auto attack cycle with an extra attack could (maybe) solve the issue. I don’t know.
I don’t mind if some profession (class) seems very strong to other classes. I mean, most classes can be devastating to one another if played well, which the vast majority of the player base don’t do (Everybody believes they are better than average, it’s a scientific fact in most aspects of life which clearly also applies to gaming), but destroying a class rotation for some reason seems so weird to me and it makes me wonder if Anet actually test these changes themselves before releasing them into the public? I’m new to Anet, so I don’t know.
What I do know however, is that when such, to me, game breaking mechanics can be introduced just like that, it’s time for me to do something else. Guess I’m not a REAL gamer then
GL guys with your thiefs if you are willing to “adapt” as some of you like to call it. For me it’s over for now. I’m in it for the “rogue” play. Yes, the annoying play style that touches very human nature and tricks people into running scared screaming that rogues, thiefs, assassins or whatever are OP because they cannot cope with this style of play.
To me, well played guardians are the worst, easily surviving 3-5 man hitting him for extended periods of time. But also crazy, flying bunker elementalists or sneaky stealthing, dodging mesmers can be rather annoying too. Well played engineers can crush a thief as well. You win some you lose some no matter how good you are, thiefs too, I have also tried to have my kitten handed to me from time to time even by a warrior. There’s no “I win button” in this game, only good and bad/less good players. Which in my opinion is the way it should be.
It really seems to me that there are a lot of viable builds in this game (some classes have more options than others), but after the latest patch and in the current state, I feel that thiefs have at least one less option which is a shame.
I guess not ALL thieves know that the 4 sec. reveal don’t affect wvw. I feel greatly affected as a valkyrie/divinity D/D thief with 10/30/30/0/0
I used to run that build as well. Try 10/30/15/15/0, and pick up the 2 init on stealth and vigor on healing traits. It’s been working well for me so far.
I don’t care for the 4sec reveal either, but I have to say that I think it’s forcing me to play smarter. The rotation issue is an annoyance, but it’s easily adaptable.

The 4s reveal isn’t my favorite, but I’ve been hurt a lot more by not dropping agro when stealthing and the much easier stealth interrupts now. I relied on that to give me an extra second here or there when I needed to disengage and let my pets take some of the agro while I changed position, healed up, whathaveyou. (or just for a quick second to recoup when somethin’ went terribly wrong)
Now not only is my timing off, but so is every single stealth tactic. I can adjust, I’ll have to, but by the time I do, then what? We get nerfed again?
I love my Thief, but Anet is turning that into a really abusive relationship.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
as a tournament player it also affects me since i rely on stealth allot for both offensive and defensive abilities with this 1 sec nerf it reduced my access to this ability quite a bit, it’s not just 1 second, on a long fight (1-2min) its a 10 second difference between before patch and after patch. for a duelist like me it DOES affect me quite allot! its 10 more seconds that im visible and vulnerable than I was before and its 10 more seconds that I cant use any of my stealth skills and stealth abilities.
I know A-net will not roll this back anyway, ill just continue to lvl my alt and use my Thief as extra bank space since he’s got all 8 bag slots…
