Thief – Raiden Hayabusa
Thief – Gouki Kurokawa
So I was being bored, and I stumbled on the most ebola build I have seen a long while:
I think this is the build:

Hopefully the rightful owner shows up and explains to us what kind of kittenery this is.
Personally , given there only two traps in that build and they add little to overall stealth as compared to the d/p stealth stack, I would not use Trapper runes. (one of the traps is from the respite so is on a cooldown tied to the heal)
The player uses HIS as a heal to setup one of his needle traps via respite. I would use preplexity runes here as they will also add confusion at every heal. (along with a chance to add more if hit)
Since he appears to get a needle trap off the heal it trappers respite. Deadly daggers does nothing for this build.
The durations of the immobs also seem quite high so I suspect he might be using some trailblazers armor and gear.

I’m on Dragonbrand, and for a while there was a ghost thief trolling our home BL when we were paired with NSP and SoS (so it may have been this guy). As a thief, I’m fairly familiar to the mechanics, how & why it works, but countering the condi burst as thief is the tricky part. I ended up using a sword/d – d/p setup and WvW traps to counter.
It’s great when it works (due to the immobilize) so long as you can:
but easily countered by:
Personally I’m not a fan of the build or play because it can be countered fairly easily, and limited to trolling players unless certain criteria are met.
If you’re looking into a condi thief setup, look at p/d. Definitely hard to counter (at least as power thief).

.
Indeed. Surely not deadly daggers trait.
I am not a fan of those builds too, cause it’s too risky and I like power builds a lot more.
I just thought it was fun to share how evil that guy was haha.
i run same style of build but with out stealth aspect of it more fun.
I run a p/d build with traps and it quite fun doing well against most classes.
I think it much deadlier than the Ghost thief variant and has all manner of “get out of jail” cards to play. If you get the condition durations as high as you can (mine at 92 percent) you can wreck a number of builds.
When you get durations that high all of the skills on the set become very usable.
As another mentioned it suprising how little condition cleanse some people bring to WvW. Specifically fellow thieves that rely too much on the EA cleanse. (you are not evading when immobed and I am not attacking once those conditions loaded)

What’s a good setup for p/d? Ive been running d/d condi and would like to try something else without having to replace my viper/tralblazer gear.
Trailblazer works fine and P/d I find can counter d/d condi quite easily. If you use traps and #2 properly you can neutralize that build quite quickly.
I use this build. I tried variants and keep coming back to this as it works so well.
The boon theft is excellent and you can strip boons off an enemy quite easily. Improv IMHO is superior to potent poison. Every skill on the Utility bar outside the elite is a stealth for free allowing that #1 AA. Shadowtrap in fact is 2 stealths.
I know saerni has a build where he took Daredevil over DA and I tried that as well but I fond that DA just adds more to the build. There not enough in a Condi build of this type to warrant taking DD imho.
Since I am not taking DD the reset chance on skills via improv is 3/5 given I have trick/trick/trap/trap/deception. If one of these resets you gain a great boost in your abilities no matter which it is.
Generally you will have 10 Vuln stacks on an enemy and 10 or even 20 might stacks on yourself in this build which is a significant boost to condition tick damage. The steals off BT and the new RS can really lay some hurt on classes that rely on boons even as you steal the same.
Prior to RS if I ran into a berserker warrior or someone with high access to resistance I just left the scene as I could not touch him with the resistance up, With the RS , oodles of stealth from traps and CND and BT i can strip off that resistance in a hurry. The sneak attacks come in quick succesion as well adding to the bleeds.
If said warrior used his signet to get resistance, he in for a world of hurt.

Cool, thanks man.
I remember the owner posting the vid in here a while back and I think he even posted the build. I think there were a few more videos of it. I like how those people just stand there taking the dmg lol, it is nothing like that where I play and thieves like this would be eaten alive.
I think I found the thread I was talking about, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Ghost-Thief-Gameplay-Tier-1/first

Holy crap. That was pretty interesting video. Two questions.
Is there anyaddon he uses for the dmg display and how comes that he was always in stealth for such a long time!
I love thiefs and i absolutely love two daggers bit i am not as skilled as that guy at all.
He is using d/p and is stacking stealth via 5 and 2. Given he uses none of the weapon attacks of the set he does not need INI for anything but stealth.
People continue to insist this caused by trapper runes which just not the case. The build shown has one trap plus respite which gets 2 seconds stealth per every 24 seconds. (1 more second with meld).
90 percent plus is stealth stacking.
You will never do this on any other weapon set.
I’m aware of the counters to Ghost Thief builds (just some cleanse, moving, AoE reveal) but it still doesn’t feel right that we can actually kill people without ever becoming visible. It just feels like a fundamental principle of the game has gone…awry. I remember when you could do a similar thing with PU Mesmer and clone death and that felt rather odd that I could just dodge roll and use phase retreat in stealth to pop illusions without being Revealed – although the damage was far less than what we can do with Ghost Thief.
It’s not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of the shockingly awful balance in WvW, but I always have that feeling that I’m using something broken.
