Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
I viewed all of Karl’s forum messages and noticed that he frequent the Thief forum more compare to his number of posts in the Elementalist’s and Guardian’s forum.
What’s your dash of sunshine?
I think that’s just because we’re in such a bad place compared to those two professions that we have more issues with having such an underdeveloped elite spec.
At the end of the day, core Ele and Guard will probably still shine over all elite specs.
I do appreciate his higher rate of posting, but I’m looking for quality over quantity. He has yet to address any concern unrelated to the Staff or the new Dodges (which are the selling points of the spec so it’s kind of a given those will be improved). I don’t expect a response on everything salient, but a response on anything salient would be good.

I’m confused, didn’t he come out not too long ago detailing the fixes for the new dodges? Dash would be shorter, bound would be quicker and the jump on IL would be removed since they could not bypass its flaws….? I’m pretty sure I saw those.
You may want to read my post more closely.

The way I see it, they put in so much effort on making the Dash works, probably developing new technology just to make it happen. I think that effort is worth celebrating. There’s a lot of quality in making the Dash work as intended.
I agree that the list of things they need to address might be long, but the Dash issue is one issue off that list — meaning they are one issue closer to resolving the issues you want to be resolved.
That’s what a dash of sunshine means.
My dash? I still feel like I did when I discovered my love for thief. They didn’t make us feel like other classes. For that I am thankful.
Dash might be working but not in a way someone like me needs it to if the animation remains the same regardless of duration. Being able to flip/dodge across the map in WvW is important to my build, especially considering the terrain pathing issues that it helps me maneuver and for positioning. Using dash during the last beta test got me killed more than it’s intended mechanic, if I can’t leave the ground when I dodge for Swiftness and positioning, any kind of collision to the smallest hill or step puts a stop to my mobility and was annoyingly disorienting.

In a better world, they’d fix everything.
But since we have to compromise, I’d much rather they leave dash broken and fix 4-5 core issues with thief then “probably develop new technology to make sure dash works correctly”. You can’t polish a kitten , which is what “making sure dash works” while ignoring a litany of other key issues is.
In one of your other posts you pointed out how Karl feels Escapists Absolution is powerful enough to be considered a Major trait choice – if that’s who’s designing thief, I don’t have any hope for HoT.
I don’t mean to kitten on your optimism, but I feel like it’s massively misplaced (just as mine was 4 or 5 patches ago). I honestly just want my money back at this point.

A dash of sunshine doesn’t represent optimism because it could also mean that the clouds will stop the sun shining through. But even with a glimpse and even for a second, we can acknowledge they working and not monkeying around.
I believe that Staff Mastery, EA, and Impacting Disruption are supposed to be baseline, but I can accept that they can only do one at a time starting with EA.
A dash of sunshine. In this case, it’s like saying I have herpes, but hey, at least it’s not Gonorrhea.

I think it’s more like “hey you have cancer, but it’s treatable.” It could go either way, but we can only hope for the best.
Maybe the problem was that the devs visited the thief forums too frequently. You guys remember what our forum used to look like? Anything a thief has going for them will summon an army of forum trolls and whiners that gets us nerfed to the ground. Hell, we got nerfed before the specialization patch even came out (resilience of shadows).
I’m not saying 50% isn’t overpowered. But at least let us try it out first before caving in to all the people complaining at the mere mention of something good for thieves.
